Things I need to figure out:
- WTF is boistering and can I make it a foul against Maddock, since Meaghan was talking about fouling him.
- WHY TF Meaghan played so poorly, because this is v. poorly considering she's not even injured. My current, and favorite, idea involves there being a huge pink showing but obviously I can't make that a requirement? But it would go a long way toward explaining this level of fail on her part.
- What dimly-lit smokefilled den of iniquity she threw herself into after this mess, because #sorrynotsorry there's no way she isn't getting utterly smashed tonight.

Merc comes early today, much earlier than usual. He's more nervous than he'll let on, after all this is his first Neep and the first Neep of the team he and Shona are trying to repair after the war. More than enough riding on the first showing, and half the team is injured. It's all a bit of a nightmare but the Magpies are the better team, he firmly believes that. Now it's just about delivering. ~~History has it's eyes on you~~

After a while of sitting and collecting himself, Merc gets up to head to the team box and see how things are before he'll come down to gives the players their talks.

Better to be put together and ready to fight when the team sees him. Merc's always believed that the coach sets the tone and mood for the team.

Today's orders are exactly the type Scrim likes. Aggressive offense, go hard and make the keeper work for it!

She's in a better mood than the last matches, and is bouncing around the locker room doing her little jamming out routine for much of it. She may not have grown up Portree, but she did grow up Scottish and even if her family didn't lean towards either of these scottish teams, she knows how big a deal this series is. Not to mention that now their rivals are the top team and she's not the same player she was when she faced them. Time to measure up against the top spot! AND BEAT 'EM!!!!!

Scrim boogies her way over to Alasdair and gives his shoulder a friendly punch. They know the plan already, that they're the two staying in, and she's glad she's got him there. This is a whole different team in many ways to the start of the season but they're still here and they're better together than they were at the start! "We can take those stupid birds!" She declares (nearly the same thing she already told both Pepper and David each a moment ago...punch included).

Ellie was in her armor today - purple hair with stars on the undercut although one of the three stars is a turnip, dragon earring, dragon hide jacket. While it might be just the Neep, she is here to win.

Hopefully the team was in a better shape for it compared to the Fall Classic. Lorna certainly was more prepared and not fresh out of retirement. The MacDonald hole was still there, but maybe even starting to heal now. Of course there were other challenges, more broken things, quieter, but still requiring armor.

The last minute grab for a turnip was part of that. She approached the press area, the turnip passing easily between her hands. Ellie grins when she sees Merc -- or really when she sees the Montrose Coach. (People were watching and she would rather pretend she isn't persona non-grata for a few minutes with Merc.)

"Neep!" She shouted. Ellie waited until he looked before tossing the vegetable. "Figured I ought to at least give you one. Just about the only neep you're getting."

Ellie is eager to see how this version of Portree measures up to Montrose and benchmark how far they have come since the Fall Classic. The strategy for today is to go hard, have fun. Her starting line is as Scottish and quidditch families as she can get. That would been honestly and openly discussed with the players -- this is a Family Affair and Scottish Tradition she wants to come out on that note.

There are no long speeches today, but before everyone heads out onto the pitch, you bet she is inviting everyone jam to Chumbawamba's Tubthumping.

Georgi, who's been a silent ghost off the pitch since his return from Bulgaria, is really trying to be himself while changing and stretching and doing his prematch rituals. He's determined that he won't let his current situation affect his playing, especially in such an important match to the team (he did read that Neep book Peggy gave him for his birthday, he knows everything about turnips now!), and he does his best to greet all his teammates and smile a little and not bring everything down.

When it comes time for him to stand up and do his traditional singing, he falters for a long time, uncertain what to do, because he can't sing "Mila Rodina" now. He can't.

Instead, after a few crushing moments of indecision, he puts his hand over his heart, stands to attention, and starts singing out "Scots Wha Hae", which he learned from Florrie while he was still new to the country and which really speaks to him. Does he actually understand all the lyrics? Does he get all the references? No and no. But it's stirring and bloody and an anthem of his adopted home, which makes it a perfect pre-match song too. (Please join him, team! He doesn't know all the words, he needs you to fill in the blanks.)

Maggie's parents won tickets to the match on the wireless ~~because I said so!~~! They're in the Pride side and Muir is wearing HIS FAVOURITE SHIRT (thanks Dani!). There's no doubt that they track down the Study Group so they can make sure the children have been eating well. Yes, they know you're all in your late twenties, deal with it.

In the absence of Catapults on the pitch, Rhona cheers for Pride. It's very loud and often vulgar and oh so that's where Maggie gets it.

Pip isn’t playing the game and he’s okay with that (because it’s a Scottish thing and the Scottish Seeker should play the game as was explained to him). He’s happy to show up and support his team, however, in the moose onesie graciously made for him by Mama MacFusty. He thought about saving it for whenever World Cup team announcements might be for Team Canada, but decided that his Canadian coaches and team management would expect that and why would he want to do what’s expected? He’s cheering loudly and vorcificficously for all of his Pride teammates. At some point he gets a gold crown (who knows from where) and perches it atop his head.

Of COURSE Fiona is here for this! She is sitting with Mum today. That hasn't stopped her from pretty much almost nearly on her feet the whole time. Drink in hand. SCREAMING and SWEARING at the fouls called on Portree and cheering the team on. The lose is disappointing, but did they ever make a statement with that snitch catch.

In other moments, she might have wandered off to: visit Dad, and go bother Alex while he's busy working.

Ama opted for sitting in the stands themselves; she could've gone for the BIL/DOMGAS box but decided she'd rather enjoy match and not have to put up with any departmental politicking. She could've gone to the Portree team box but she had a ticket from one of her minions who couldn't make it - even though she'd done everything short of giving a presentation on why she didn't need the ticket.

Unsurprisingly, she's cheering for Portree. It is her brother's team after all. Although she can't help but think of the future and if/when Owen does decide to retire from managing Portree; because she's never really had a favourite team and has mostly supported Portree out of love for her brother. Though Ama decides she'll at the very least be at some matches to cheer Lorna on if nothing else.
