If it looks like his mum will agree to it, Alasdair doesn't mind taking the wee one for a while. He's got no issue with the little one being curious, though Gwen may prefer such exploration doesn't happen in public!

"If there was any concern amongst players about pink being a distraction, I'm sure that the Grenoble bid to have Quiberon thrown out of the LFQ would have failed by now," Alasdair quips before giving quite the charming grin, and getting a few appreciative chuckles in response from the European League connoisseurs amongst the assembled press. "But in terms of play, we were already working on adapting to the various styles of today's lineup, and as such, were secure enough in what we're doing that pink wasn't going to be a problem."

He couldn't help but chuckle at the final question. "Well, I can't speak for the whole team, but a teammate did mine. A trustworthy one, naturally." Another laugh from the crowd there.

David is in a weird clingy toddler mood where he wants to go to Alasdair but he also doesn't want to let go of mummy, so even when Gwen tries to set him down so he can go bug Alasdair he clings to her leg like a limpet and won't go.

A reporter from the French paper Le Phénix de Paris, who's been a regular at Pride matches since Alasdair came over, asks in French, "The Pride of Portree have been through many roster changes since the beginning of the season. How difficult has that been for the players, and can you comment on the widespread belief that the team has only picked up its only two Muggleborn players recently to avoid accusations of anti-Muggleborn bias since the dismissals of Isla and Monte Cameron?"

Alasdair gives the lad a gentle smile to reassure him before going back to answering the question. If he wants to come over to him, then he can, no big deal.

He replies to the reporter - a man he knows well - in fluent French of his own. It's not with a perfect accent - those who know the language well can pick up on a Scottish inflection or two on the rounded vowel sounds - but it's clear that six years in Quiberon and living with a Frenchwoman make him confident in this particular domain.

"I suppose that depends on your definition of difficulty," he begins, tilting his head a little, pink hair reflecting a little in the light. "It certainly requires some adjustment, but if I know this team, I know it's a team full of very talented professionals who work hard to find out where their own strengths and weaknesses are. Exploit the former and develop skills to eradicate the latter. Our high ranking in the league despite all the changes shows how well this resilience has paid off, I think," he finishes smoothly, to a few nods of agreement from people watching.

"As for your second question," he starts, the squareness to his shoulders and the set of his jaw making those near the front sit up and take notice of how serious he is, "I find it unfortunate that in the attempt to stir trouble where none exists, the considerable work ethic of both Chidera Okeke and Octavius Pepper has been ignored. They are dedicated professionals whom any team would be lucky to have in their squad - and to suggest they were signed for political reasons is an insult to them and their talent." There's a bit of a stir as one or two of the more linguistically talented journalists realise what he's saying, but there's a positive note on their air because he's right, damn it. To accuse Portree of signing purely for political reasons insults muggleborns still further, 'othered' them and valued them for the wrong reasons.

Alasdair pauses for a moment to lower his head towards Gwen, giving her a barely audible whispered translation of what he said, before translating the last part of the question. Gwen would want to know that the word 'dismissal' is circulating among continental papers, and she may wish to address the erroneous belief directly.
