(Stands) MacDougals on the Loose

Roaming around the stands today (and visiting the Portree box! Hi Peggy!!) are a very tall man with a perpetual grin, and his average-sized wife who's in a Catapults jersey and Uplift scarf.

You've been warned about them: Muir and Rhona... Maggie's parents. One bleeds purple, the other ... eye-blinding Christmas colours.

Muir takes every opportunity to tell people that his daughter is the Portree team medic!!!!!! If he sounds proud about this, it's because he IS! And it's his BIRTHDAY so getting to see his own team PLAY his wife's team (and CONQUER THEM, he's sure of it!!) is his idea of THE BEST DAY EVER!!!

If he so much as catches your eye you're going to get at least a "good afternoon! 8D" from this happy man.

(He can be a bit much, yes, but at least his wife's a less overwhelming presence?)

Another tall man walks up to them, though he's not quite as tall as the friendly giant, wearing a purple shirt with the words: Team Medic's Dad's Daughter's Attractive Friend. In his arms is adorable cutie wearing a "Team Medic's Dad's Grand-Goddaughter" onesie.

"Did I hear right?! Are you the Team Medic's dad?" He does a faux dramatic gasp of shock (which tiny Gina in his arms sees and imitatees). "You may be just who we're looking for!"

GASP, INDEED!

"AYE, WEE LADDIE!" Muir roars, "and wee lassie!" He grins at the shirt, and wider at the ONESIE! He does what looks like a secret handshake with Gina, except it's one-sided because she happily smacks his huge hand around instead of reciprocates. Muir, used to the treatment, acts like that was the plan all along.

Rhona, meanwhile, greeted Charlie with a hug and a "Nice to see you on our day off, Carl."

"Where'd these freish kits come from?!"

"Oh it's actually Chadwick, Rhona!" He grins and returns the hug as Gina does her secret handshake with Muir (which Charlie agrees was all totally according to plan).

"And HAPPY BIRTHDAY YOU AMAZING GIANT! Dani made these! Speaking of...we have a gift for you," Charlie laughs and pulls out the huge purple jersey folded under his arm. Unfurled it clearly reads: Team Medic's Dad. "Figured we'd save you a little effort in spreading the word."

"And for you, Rhona, well we would never dare guess a lady's size so..." Out comes the button! With the words: Team Medic's Dad's Better Half.

Muir's halfway through thanking Charlie when his face lights up at THE JERSEY!!! He immediately pulls it on over his Portree jumper, then pulls Charlie into a bear hug. (It's not as rib-cracking as one of his daughter's, but when you're that big any hug is a bear hug.) "Charlie. CHARLIE. Cheers! I will ne'er take it aff!"

Rhona, happily pinning her accurate button onto her own jumper, interjected. "Aye, ye will."

"NE'ER WASH IT!"

"Weekly."

"Ack!" Charlie can't help but not-quite-squeak as he's enveloped in a bear hug. Gina just seems thrilled by this and hugs big Muir back. But, having experienced bone-crushing Muir hugs, Charlie knows this is the softer version. Thank you Gina, you saved Dad's ribs. His tiny MuirShield.

"You've got to wash it weekly if you're going to be wearing it every day! By the way, we have spots over there and a whole cohort of shirts." He points to where the study group is in the distance. Even from here it's obvious they all have purple jerseys with large writing even if the words can't be made out. "What's a birthday without a crew, right? Oh and afterwards we need to go visit Maggie and show off our fancy new kits."

Muir claps his hands, then claps a hand on Charlie's back. He can't wait to see the cohort. "Lead the way, laddie! And aye, she'll LOVE them." He knows she'll hate them; it just makes him beam wider.
