Amir is pure nervous energy in the locker room, restless as he tries to calm his nerves before the match. THE match. His FIRST match. He's so nervous about the match he keeps forgetting his hair is now bright pink. So whenever he catches his reflection, he's caught off guard.

Knowing a good portion of his family is up in the stands doesn't help, but he also knows Terry and his mates will be watching too, and even if he totally fails he can count on Terry's dry sense of humour.

Then there's his teammates in the locker room there to help him out. Though he wonders if Scrimmy's really gonna hit him with the Beater's Bible.

	Just as he's thinking that, a goggled up teammate with headphones on and a bright tartan hoodie comes up behind and smacks him in the back of the head with the Beater's Bible (it's not that hard!). 	Amir, who is still in awe that he gets to practice with Lorna on a daily basis, seems to have suddenly realized that he’s about to play in an actual match with Lorna. What is his life, even? 	Something about this speech fired Amir up even if his nerves make it hard for him to even process what he’s hearing. There’s genuine passion in his coach’s voice and he’s responding well to it. “Yeah,” he grins though not entirely sure what he’s agreeing with. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	Ainsley offers him a few words of encouragement, reminding him of their journal exchange just a couple of days ago (which reminds her all over again that she has more than just a game to play today- part of this is vengeance and trying to get back some semblance of confidence). Amir grins at Ainsley because she’s always had his back. So he knows she’s supporting him now and he returns the favour. “You’re gonna be brilliant,” he tells her. “Can’t wait to actually play a match with you.”

And if he does play well she’ll certainly have had a hand in it, with all those extra hours of practice helping him to get more comfortable out on the pitch.
