For the first five minutes of the match, Amir is a nervous ball of energy. He flat out misses the bludger once, slicing through the empty air with his bat with such ferocity that he almost has to laugh at himself, but instead his face just turns as pink as his newly charmed hair.

He redeems himself on the second try, hitting a bludger straight toward a Catapult chaser's broom, causing them to spin off as they take a shot, giving Ainsley an easy save.

And suddenly he remembers he's getting paid for this, because he bloody made a professional quidditch team because he was good enough. Not the best, not brilliant, but good enough to play on a team and a team besides the Cannons at that!

He can do this. The nerves aren't completely gone, but he takes a deep breath and reminds himself that the sport isn't new to him, just this match.

Alasdair shouts some words of encouragement in mid-air as he passes with the Quaffle!

Scrimmy is really glad she let Keke convince her into pink hair. It's much better than robe alterations and pulled back and out of her face it's easy to forget she has any pink on her. And once the match is underway she has adrenaline distracting and driving her.

She's still playing at her usual 500% intensity but it doesn't come easily, today she has to actively push herself to play with that kind of energy. Bloody Stubborn Force of Nature is her mantra today and boy does she use every bit of energy she has to try and make that a reality.

The more aggressive aussie-inspired style from the last match is back, it's been seeping into her playing for a while now, and she's barreling through small holes in the chaser defense with her tiny size and throwing every shot hard. Any pass her teammates toss her way, she tries to make count by flying deep into catapults territory. Alasdair is easy, they've had enough time to really get in sync, but incorporating Pepper is the goal today. Practice is all well and good but this is the real test for the new chaser lineup.

Alasdair is playing the link man today, accepting passes or tackling opposition Chasers for the Quaffle, sending it up to Scrimmy to exploit those holes. It makes his own game deceptively effective. 19 shots in a game this sort is what he has to show for it - opposition players taking attention out on Scrimmy frees up Alasdair to make his own forays into the attack.

Alasdair has a clean game - no dodgy fouls being called here - and relatively lacking in error given that much of his concentration is on his Chaser teammates. He is, once more, working to get a third Chaser in sync with himself and Scrimmy, and it's not working badly at all. Just like the last match, he's working as the link player between his two peers, and it's working with a reasonable amount of success. It's not their best game, but it shows the three of them have potential, and Alasdair is pleased with the result.

He's relieved when Pip manages to get the Snitch, though. He's pretty relieved it's over.

Lorna was very focused for this game. Or tried to stay focused. This is Amir's first game and Lorna is confident in him. She is definitely taking lead, but she'd giving him plenty of opportunity to show being back up. She leads them into a number of maneuvers they'd practiced.

She is also particularly careful of Ainsley today. Not letting the Catapults think they can take her out because she's not Meaghan. It was while defending Ainsley (who got injured in a foul), Lorna got injured when her shoulder slammed into the goal post. Not enough to get her out of the game though.

Pip's Bombardment Foul
[info]majormoose

True to his word, Pip did his best to keep the other team (and it's seeker) on their toes/brooms. For the first forty-five, Pip is zig zagging across the pitch, ostensibly looking for the snitch. What he is actually doing is purposefully drawing bludgers into opposing players' paths. Apparently either someone complained or this did not endear him to the referee, because after he finished his 60 minute snack (an apple) and went to toss the core away he was warned for Bombarding the other team, despite the core's trajectory being no where near Caerphilly.

....It's not a mistake that Pip caught the snitch shortly thereafter.

Anais loves his mid-match snacks, and she is definitely tickled by the foul call, even if it's an incorrect one. Of all the things to get called for...

By the time the bludgers are released and the game begins, Ainsley is already in the zone, more than ready to leave everything but the match behind. There's still that tiny thread of doubt- that obnoxious voice that says reserve reserve reserve when she tries to tell herself she deserves to be on that pitch as much as anyone- but today it's eclipsed more than anything by her need to prove Meaghan-fucking-McCormack wrong. She's been kicked around by life lately, but that's when she just has to pick herself right back up and go back out there again and again.

She's never really understood the dragon motif that the team has, but up there, hovering and darting around the hoops, she suddenly gets it as she protects her territory just as fiercely as the ones she'd seen at the MacFusty reserve. About thirty minutes in, as she's diving to get the quaffle back into Scrimmy's hands after making a nearly effortless save, one of the Cats' beaters gets close enough to collide with her leg. Her foot turns at a sudden sharp, unnatural angle. She barely registers the Lumbering foul call as pain explodes through her ankle and radiates up her leg.

She grunts through it, vision swimming for maybe half a second before she's right back to it. It's manageable, and she's definitely had worse. There's no way she's letting this game get away from her because of a little (a lot of) discomfort.
