Now THIS is a match.

Meaghan is here, with someone or other, ostensibly to cheer for Puddlemere (look, everything else aside Wood's a Gryff keeper and you gotta support your own, specially on their first) but finds that she keeps switching sides as she watches. She's friends with Wilda and she's been blocked a TON this season, she's not with Katy Duke so she's free to cackle. (She cackles at Wilda too, just... sympathetic cackling. Ish.) She cheers at the Pantsing, as always. Wood's doing well.

Roger's ejection gets a WHOOOOA of interest. At Lennox's fouls she is delighted and she's absolutely beside herself with glee when he's ejected because how often does that one get that mad????

Maddock's injury... is different. Obviously serious and kind of terrifying, her eyes are stuck to him.

Ellie is grateful for the match today. It gives her something else to focus on than getting another new player up to speed and integrated with Pride. But at least there is a solution coming. Gratefully the match does not disappoint.

She does get handed Champ not long before the starting whistle. She still doesn't really get dogs, but there is probably a learning curve there and Champ does seem to settle so that's something.

More importantly, she gets to spend some time with Meaghan and pretend they are not player and coach, but rather just two people. She is also all about the trash talking with some colorful words. When Roger get's ejected she is definitely paying attention. What the fuck are the refs thinking? Then later...what the fuck is her husband thinking with that trick shot? There are going to be words for that later.

Except then Maddock takes the bludger to the back and Ellie is on her feet. Frozen for a moment in seeing what comes next. Champ seems to pick up on something gone wrong and is also at alert and barking.

Champ doesn't know why he can't be with the other pups today, but at least he has one of his people! And there is a new person. Much sniffing at Meaghan, but also lots of head resting in Ellie's lap... when she's sitting. All the barking when people keep jumping to their feet! And when Ellie is upset, Champ is upset. Barking, whining and pawing at her leg.

Meaghan grew up with dogs, so she has no issues there even if she doesn't quite get bringing them to a match. Matches are for people, dogs should be running around and shit. It's kinda impressive how well behaved it is though. She lets Champ sniff her and she scratches his ears a bit.

She's in a pretty good mood today overall, given they just got a new! chaser!! he's new but he's old!! but he's new to them and she knows him!! and he's GOOD!! and she knows him!! So she's up for and intending to have a pretty good time today.

Meaghan keeps to her seat when Allie gets hit, but when the new bloke beater grabs hold of Maddock to help him to the ground, she picks up Champ's lead and pushes Ellie's shoulder. "Go," is all she says.

This match is a mess. She feels like she can safely say that at this point. Maybe she's still cursed after all.

Meaghan's prompting finally pushes her into action. "Thanks. Fuck. Right. Yeah I should --" Her words are a stumbling of sounds, not all of them in English. She does finally settle on the single question. "You got him, yeah?"

Ellie doesn't really wait for a response. She is moving on automatic right now to get down to the pitch. It was bad enough seeing her players injured, it being Maddock? She was not prepared for that.
