Now what?

Rioting could also go here.

MED TENT

Again, Florrie is here for your patching up needs, and probably not in a mood to put up with much guff.

Once the snitch was caught, Jason landed carefully and went directly to the Med Tent. He did not pass go, he did not collect two hundred dollars. (He might have called for someone to bring him his tiara - because he earned it. Feather boa too at this point!)

Still, Jason knew he had been playing on borrowed time. He needed actual healing and not just patchwork. So, he grabbed his snacks and took a seat. “Hell of a match.” If could have wrangled his robes off without worsening things, he might have, but he is having no luck on that one. So he’ll just dutifully wait for Florrie.

Since Lennox is patched up by then, Jason is going to get Florrie's full attention. She just switches the top half of his gear right off him (doesn't need the rest and she's seen his pink shorts, thanks Waris), undoes her brace, and gets to work on actually mending any breaks and attending to the bruises with paste.

There's also a pain potion and he's not to apparate home. Floo or side-along with someone else.

Once he's thoroughly healed up and full of snacks, water, and potion, she releases Jason to the admiring crowd of press and fans with boa and tiara, which she adjusts on his head since he needs to keep from reaching over his head at the moment.

There might be a cheeky "Efficient" comment as Florrie makes quick work of his kit. But mostly he just sits and lets her do her thing. He is grateful to be in sure hands. And he is eagerly hoping for a quick recovery and rehab. But he also knows that he needs to 100% follow his medic's advice and be a good patient.

"Thanks, Florrie. Promise to take it easy this weekend. Hopefully start some rehab on it by Monday or Tuesday." But he would be checking on for that afterwards.

For now, he his armed with his tiara, boa, and neon-pink arm sling ready to go mingle, meet the press, probably track down Wood too. Show no hard feelings and congratulate him on a strong first match out.

She knows she's going to have to wait after everything that's happened but Peggy is here to see Georgi and to bring him his gift.

Georgi has been inundated with fans and press for quite a while between leaving the locker room and finally being able to make his way over to find Peggy and the girls, and he's a bit frazzled around the edges and in need of some peace and quiet by the time he sees her and comes over to thank her for coming.

Peggy is still grinning, because really, Georgi saved the match. "You saved the day, Georgi. Brilliantly done. Nobody's invoked that rule for years.

"Would you like to go upstairs to one of the boxes and rest a bit? I've got your present and also I know Nadezhda and Silviya are about someplace--I saw them in the Montrose box during the match but I was off between the press and the League box where Frazer and Commissioner Desai were talking about the rules. But I'll find them and you can sit and just breathe."

He doesn't entirely know how Peggy just seems to understand things like that, but Georgi is very relieved by the offer. "Yeah," he says gratefully. "Thank you, Peggy. I'd like that." He offers her his arm, very correctly. "I'm not tired. But I'd like to be someplace quieter for a while."

Locker Room

When everyone's in the locker room, the coach is gone for a bit, then he reappears. Cigarette dangling between his lips still, and looking both stressed and relieved at the same time, but now with a bottle of scotch and a stack of floating glasses following him.

"Well team. If there was a match that we all needed a drink after, it's this." As he speaks he pours out scotch into the glasses, levitating them out to each team member (staff and reserves included) as he goes. "Things happen in quidditch, I don't want any of you to take it hard. Just remember that after this match every team has just seen what it takes to push us to the edge. And every team has seen that even 3 men down, in the dire straits, Montrose won't be knocked down. We're not a one trick pony, not a mish mash of top players. You're a team and an absolute force."

He raises the last glass, his, in toast. "To Montrose."

Kal is excited to see the team after the match is over, because this is officially the craziest and most exciting match she's ever seen. If it hadn't been for Maddock's injury, she might have even labelled it the best match.

"To Montrose!" she choruses in response, taking a sip of the Scotch. Not usually to her taste, but she's feeling the spirit of the moment and goes with it.

Georgi raises his own glass to echo the toast, still somewhat wide-eyed from his seeker trip and from the attention he knows he's going to be swarmed with the minute he walks out the door. "To Montrose," he agrees, and throws it straight back. Liquid courage, just what the healer ordered.

He doesn't look angry, or withdrawn, but Lennox is still quiet as he accepts a whisky and puts it down his throat after a murmured toast. He seems much more accepting of things than he would have been before... something has clearly changed in him. The fact he doesn't count it as a snitch loss due to the ejection helps, plus the fact that this referee was so far off his rocker that there's little they could have done.

Georgi makes sure to come up to Lennox and shake his hand. After experiencing seeking he is even more certain that he never wants to do that job. "I'm sorry it happened this way," he tells him quietly. "Throwing you out was unfair."

Lennox has a wry expression on his face as he replies, all ironic amusement and raised eyebrows as he examines the bottom of his woefully empty glass. "Wouldn't want to be part of the Ref's Office by tomorrow," he quips, neglecting to touch the other subject because it really is fucking unfair.

"To Montrose!"

Lex is hanging close to Micah and/or Angus in the locker room (preferabbly sandwiched between the two of them and she still looks a bit pale/green around the gills. This felt more like a bad dream than a quidditch game and she feels she should have played better - should have been able to deal more damage against Puddlemore or do a better job protecting her team out there.

But the ref was blind and her team was amazing (not to mention her hubby was on fire). Victories are worth celebrating.

Oliver heads straight into the med tent after the match is called, talking their medic's ears off about the match while the wizard works. It's an equal mix of venting and excitement, because they may have lost, but what a match to have as his first as a starter. He'd be surprised if it hadn't broken any records, and even though they weren't his records, he likes the thought of having been there.

With the bones in his left hand mending, and a pain potion to chase the edge off of that pain, he makes his way back onto the pitch. He stops for brief chats with teammates and press along the way, but eventually he finds the person he was most interested in talking to.

"That was a hell of a match," he says, chuckling a little as he nods at Jason's sling and holds up his own hand, which is wrapped and splinted. Some of that laugh is the pain potion, some of it is relief, but mostly it's just the result of a damn good game of Quidditch. He offers his good hand, even though he knows a shake is going to look ridiculous with his right and Jason's left. "You really kept me on my toes out there."

Jason is full regalia today. He is even quite proud of his neon pink sling - less anyone forget. There is a bit of an awkward hand shake, but he can't be bothered to care. He is happy to shake Oliver's hand. While he might be competitive on the pitch, after the game? These are his colleagues and peers, and there is nothing but love and admiration.

"Well, I might have had something to prove." He says with a half-shrug, still mindful of his shoulder. "Besides, it would be an insult to bring anything less than our best to welcome you officially to professional quidditch."

"It would have been, so I appreciate it. I've never much been a fan of losing" —he snorts a laugh at that, because what Quidditcher is?— "but if it's going to happen, I'd rather it be honest."

Oliver gestures to Jason's sling again, though this time for a different reason. "And while I have the chance...I've got to say I've been reading some interesting things about you. On both sides of the fence." Because, 'shockingly', the issue of Muggleborn rights and other related issues was controversial. "But for my part, I'm glad someone's spoken up, and if I can ever throw my hat in to help in some way, just say the word."

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]feelingyou

Jason knows that one. To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift. Which is why he would always put it all on the line. The only ways losing was every acceptable was if you came by it honestly. Still the other outcome was better.

"Well, sometimes you find yourself in a place where to say nothing is worse. I have no illusion that I've made some enemies, but I think through it all I've found more allies." He didn't fancy himself an activist, but he did have a platform. "Part of what happens next, also depends on how the Scottish office business plays out. You might have some stakes in that too."

Maddie spent most of the match staring in stunned silence at how things went down. It's been so long since she attended a match just to be there that it's almost a new experience for her, and what a match to have chosen!

She hasn't forgotten that she has other business today, though, and so heads down after the match to find Jason. It strikes her as strange, as she walks up to him, that she's actually known him at least a bit for a good twenty years, but she can't remember ever having an actual conversation with him. Yet another thing affected by the way she and Micah had been for so long.

Maddie puts that out of her head and puts on a smile as she walks up to him. "Well. That was an experience." She laughs a little. "All right? You took a pretty good hit up there." She gestures to his shoulder.

After congratulating Oliver, and a few of the other United players, Jason made his rounds with a few of the more friendly press members. His message was simple: he continues to be amazed and proud to play for Montrose. He is impressed by the quick thinking and true teamwork of everyone on Montrose.

If anyone comments on him being the sole chaser for a while, he would politely point out he still had four or three other people out there supporting him, which says nothing of all the training time they put in to prepare for the worst. There is probably a joke about his pink arm sling, as well as a joke about Georgi channeling Viktor Krum.

He is finally making his way back to the locker room to debrief with the rest of the team, and hopefully get an update about Maddock when he gets stopped by Maddie. That's right, they had been planning to connect after the match. A lot happened since then.

He laughs along with her. That pain potion might be kicking in a little bit now. "I'll be fine in a few days, and back into fighting form. The healing goes a little better when you know you still managed to pull out a win."

"The wins do help," Maddie agrees with another laugh. A quick glance around her confirms that people are starting to clear out, and that most of the players have disappeared altogether. "As much as I'm looking forward to talking to you, I'm thinking right now might not be the best time. Should we find some time to meet this week instead?"
