SUMMARY: Mid-Season (Christmas) Party hosted by the Montrose Magpies at Macmillan Park, cocktail dresses and blazers suggested.

The Macmillan Family welcomes you to to Macmillan Park for the Mid-Season Yule party for all of Scottish Quidditch (and then some).

The Manor House is decorated for the season, with each room on the first floor having a display of its own. The public areas of the garden are also decorated and kept at a comfortable temperature (as long as you are wearing a cloak) with plenty of warming charms. Christmas crackers are available on all of the tables for all of your paper crown and terrible joke needs.

Finger foods and drinks (alcoholic and non) are plentiful. Eggnog can be made either way and if you want a hot chocolate with a splash of whisky, nobody is going to bat an eye. Entertainment is provided by the Tomnahurich Quartet and the Calanais Singers throughout the night in the main hall. A selection of seasonal songs in the muggle and wizarding traditions were planned, but both groups will take requests. They will be performing both together and separately.

For any children who joined their parents in the festivities, they have their own party going on upstairs in the rarely-used nursery (think very large and extensive playroom with bedrooms nearby and a schooling area). There are kid friendly foods, including sandwiches, personal pizzas in seasonal shapes, a Hot Chocolate Bar, and cherry flavored fizzy drinks. There are, of course, plenty of sweets to be had as well.

	Allie and Ellie out in the garden looking for mistletoe for snogging (not that they need an excuse). They have a spot for hiding. There might be other things going on from their one-uping competition to make sure they're both on the naughty list. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

If anyone were to ask her honest opinion, Ellie would admit that the naughty and nice list were very dumb ideas. It was all so subjective. Also by most people's count she would never end on the nice list, so why even bother or pretend it was worth anything.

Besides, is the naughty list got her a rather enjoyable time out in the garden and some rumpled attire -- not to mention a lost elf hat -- then why try to be nice?

She laughed as his beard once more rubbed against her already beard-burned neck. "Okay, okay," she said trying to catch her breath, as she tapped him on the shoulder. "Hey." She waited until she caught his eye. "Pause?"

	As far as Maddock is concerned, he'd be happy being stuck on the naughty list for the rest of his life. By their standards, nice is just not worth it. Somehow Maddock still had the Santa Hat. They didn't go their often, but it was closer especially if they had too much to drink to apparate. Maddock stood up and smoothed out his clothes (was his tie missing?) Florrie and Cav had opened their crackers and had a quick trip around the dance floor, and headed outside to cool off. There might be a little snogging on the agenda but this was sort of a work function for Florrie, so despite her good mood, she was keeping her head and remembering that she was going to have to go back to work with the hostess on the morrow. With the moon at waxing crescent and the cloud cover, even with the house lights illuminating part of the garden, it was still a bit dark. And chilly, too, so she leaned into Cav for warmth.

"I think my brother is going to--"

Ellie had been leading Maddock back toward the house, intent on making one last round before shoving off.

If there had been a pause to think or consider she might have chosen differently. But it was like a switch flipped and bam. She saw Florrie and Cav -- really just Florrie was was just far too integrated with her team, and she acted.

She moved with fists of furry, or really just palms -- not punching if it was open handed -- keen to hit her square on the jaw.

Florrie was caught completely by surprise and didn't see it coming. When Ellie's palm hit her cheek, it hurt and knocked her into Cav.

But Florrie had been trained for a physical attack, for all that it wasn't something that usually happened to her. There was always the risk of an injured patient striking a mediwizard out of fear or simply being unaware the mediwizard was trying to help because of pain or the effects of some potion or poison.

Florrie pulled her wand and cast a body-bind on Ellie, just as they'd trained her to do at Mungo's, with the variation that kept the patient's body from falling hard to the ground, instead lowering Ellie's form gently so as not to injure her further.

One moment Alasdair and Ellie were leaving the garden, his arm around her... and the next moment, pardon Maddock's french but... "What the FUCK!?" Maddock was very quickly processing that Ellie had just SLAPPED Florrie (who slaps Florrie?!) and then Florrie bound her in return. But Maddock's immediate concern was Ellie however gently she got laid out, he got a hold of her and helped her to the ground.

Cav always enjoyed ducking out of parties for fresh air and some snogging, which was why he so readily agreed to it with Florrie later in the evening. He had just bent down to whisper something suggestive in her ear when Ellie came seemingly out of nowhere and attacked Florrie. "What the fuck are you doing, MacFusty?" he burst out, reaching for Florrie, who had quickly got the upper hand in the situation. (Honestly, that was hot, but now wasn't the time, Cav reminded himself.)

He looked from Ellie to Maddock and back again, an odd look passing his face. When he spoke next, he was slightly calmer. "When I told you to hit someone, I meant me, not her."

Florrie was still reeling, at least mentally, from the effects of the attack. "What just--did I--Elsie?!?!" She shook off the shock and, heedless of her white gown, knelt beside her cousin and performed the quick spell checks to be sure Ellie was all right. Then she looked up at Doc. "She's not going to hit me again, is she?"

You didn't usually invoke that spell unless it was dangerous, and for all that Florrie hated to think Ellie was dangerous, she needed a bit of reassurance that it was going to be all right before she released Ellie with a Finite.

	While Maddock's immediate request was obviously for Florrie to take Ellie out of the binding... when she asked him if she was going to hit Florrie again, he didn't have a solid answer. 	Cav's hand settled on Florrie's arm as he stepped forward. "She might try," he told them both, glancing at Ellie with a concerned and yet also unreadable expression. 	When Merc turned a corner he saw what looked to be Elsie on the ground in an awkward position that suggested a binding spell, Florrie kneeling by her but keeping some distance, and both men looking a bit confused and bewildered. 	Florrie looked up at Merc, frowning. "She hit me, and I--reacted. Self defence reflexes." She shrugged awkwardly and continued, "I'm going to release her now; Doc, get ready." Florrie came to her feet and stepped back far enough away from Ellie that Merc and Cav could intervene if Ellie broke free of Maddock, and cast the Finite to release Ellie. Florrie and slapped did not belong in the same sentence and while of course he didn't distrust Maddock...the whole statement sounded crazy. It was only when Florrie repeated it that it sounded more real.

Merc raised his wand, an uncharacteristic fury creeping into his expression as he waited for the spell to come off Elsie. Let her be able to move before questions were thrown.

Namely WHY the hell are you slapping Florrie?!

	Ellie was a loaded spring about to explode. She could hear every word they were saying and rather than abate any angry or give her time to pause and think it just fueled her. 	Maddock nodded at Florrie when she told him to get ready. He was frowning as he watched Ellie to see what she was going to do... he was pretty sure he knew exactly what she was going to do.
