Pam looked out at everyone who had gathered, hoping that maybe one of the people who had actually been taken by the monsters might want to start off the meeting. When Pam had asked for people to speak about their experiences in the past, a good deal of the time she was met with resistance, or at least indifference, and she worried that this meeting would be similar. If someone just started off with their experience, then wouldn't that be nice?
But she cleared her throat loudly as she stood up, cutting off the chatter around her. "Okay, I think we should be about ready to start," she announced, smiling at everyone as she surveyed the room not for the first time, making sure at least almost everyone was there. "We should do this more often! It's so nice when we're all in the same place. Okay, so... I feel like I should have, like, a dry erase board here to put up notes, or like, important points or something. That's okay, anyway! Hi, everyone! So, we've had an exciting and scary few nights, and I think it would be good for all of us to talk about that, and compile everything we know or noticed about these things, and we can either figure out how to stop these things, or how to keep ourselves safe, even when the people in charge scatter us on purpose. So! I think we should talk about this, maybe brainstorm some solutions, or if we need, today can just be a whole ranting, therapy-type thing, and we can start there and work towards something more useful."
Cecilia had always been better at this stuff than she was.
"So, how many people here actually saw the monsters, and is there anything worth noting about any of them? For example, Felix, Edwin, and I saw them while we were here at the house and while they're a little big and clunky getting through the doors and hallways, they apparently aren't against coming in while the power is out and the doors are missing. So maybe it's not just light, maybe they can't work doors, but that's, like, a total guess."
