open 🌸 early evening, everywhere
[With temperatures slowly dropping and days turning into night at earlier and earlier hours, it's probably not a surprise when more signs of winter start to manifest in the coming days, not quite fully there but close. Traces of ice that aren't quite snow, chilly winds, and overcast days. Definitely a shift from the sunny opportunities of magical dates and the like.

With all that, of course, there's the need for those warmer clothes to keep the cold at bay, and likewise an increase chance of finding them among the shops and bazaar. Thicker, warmer coats to put on, mittens and hats, supplies to help with the ice, or maybe you're just looking to restock on hot-cocoa for home. Today certainly seems like one of those days for it.

It's not so bad that braving the outside is out of the question, either, of course - if you like this sort of weather, it might even make for a nice walk, with the right attire and maybe a hand to hold to keep warm. For those that might prefer staying in, huddling up instead... it's a perfect excuse too.]

	[He's used to holding Keith close as they sleep, and so it's instinctual when, as Keith settles against him, he cuddles up to him-- responding to having him there with him, as always, his arm curled around him and nuzzling sleepily into his hair. 	[It's almost too easy to fall asleep entirely once he ends up like that, maybe more so thanks to the cuddles, the comfort of it that pulls and soothes him into a deeper sleep, even as Shiro might stir when Keith eventually makes comfortable snoring noises and shifts on him just for that closeness - seeking him out always, whether conscious of it or not.] (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[When he's aware of himself enough to hear Keith, his heart twists up a little in his chest. asdlasd; tiniest baby, he loves you so intensely. He doesn't dare move, not wanting to disturb him, and with some effort manages to grab a blanket off the end of the couch to drape it over Keith, keeping him cuddled up close but making sure he's comfortable and warm. BABY... ♥]

[He doesn't so much fuss or seem to disturbed by the movements and instead just kinda nuzzles in closer, face pressed in. Maybe the noise he makes at first is close to a grumble for a moment, but it turns more settled again soon after, a prolonged sound much like the softness of his snores. It's not a purr. Shut up. He ruins it himself by the occasionally less-than-dignified snort between breaths, but, hey, you know.]

[He might have heard this once or twice while sleeping in their bed, but hearing it from this Keith, too, is enough to make him feel overwhelmed, endeared in a way he can't explain beyond an unyielding love for him. The snorts, too, are enough to make him want to laugh-- but he restrains himself, staying still enough to let Keith sleep, knowing he can always use that rest, and not wanting for him to wake up and feel self-conscious for this.

His hand strokes idly up his back, his movements slow and absent, comforting but hopefully not disturbing that sleep. Rest, baby, he's got you.

Each time Keith nuzzles in closer, at least, he's there to meet him, nosing into his hair with a small smile, just holding him to him.]

[He'll be out for at least a while like that, not the longest nap ever as it was something he got lulled into before he knew it more than sleep from tiredness, but at least for now... the touch is simply a continued comfort, adding to how easy it is to stay asleep in those moment, easy and almost lazy.

There's no particular reason for it when he finally starts to stir again, one of the noises he makes a little more deliberate, questioning, eyes still kinda half closed when he tries to lift his head, not yet aware of himself enough beyond the default question that comes only because he instinctively recognizes the close presence of him still around him.]

Shiro?

He's relaxed enough, even though awake-- he's used to being awake before Keith and waiting for him to wake up, after all, not so much lost in his thoughts as focusing on brushing his fingers along his back, listening to the sounds he makes, feeling the way Keith shifts against him.

It's because he's so relaxed, because this feels so familiar, that he just lets out a content hum in response, his words mindless as he answers:] Mmm... Hey, baby.

[He was out of it enough to at least initially bypass what would have been an inevitable wave of self-consciousness upon waking up, just as Shiro'd worried... and now, before he really has any opportunity to hit that mark, his brain is stuttering to a halt instead, the reaction delayed and slowed down by sleepiness but also obvious in that he can't mask the way he goes very still. His eyes are fully open and wide now.]

[Was it possible for something to get burned into his mind just from hearing Shiro say it? Apparently it is now. Baby--?]

I. [He's pretty sure he tries to ask or say something and it just comes out as a disoriented nonsense sound.]

[His brain catches up with him a moment later, even more so because he, of course, feels Keith tense up and hears that reaction. Oh no.]

Oh-- [oops.]

[He doesn't take it back, though-- could easily just dismiss it as meaning 'buddy' over 'baby', but, well, he's hardly going to lie to him.]

Sorry-- [Sitting up just a bit, trying to get a look at him.] I didn't mean to just drop that on you.

[Not really processing anything straight, he scrambles a little in sitting up too, knows his face is red and hoping that all his messy hair in front of it hides it enough.]

No, uh. It's -- [Kind of wheezes more than speaks, but damn it he tries. Clearly Keith shouldn't have been... whatever it was that he was doing to make Shiro obviously say that by accident, right? Even as he thinks that, the other part of his brain is catching up too, definitely doesn't miss how he doesn't take it back, and it's confusing.]

Sorry? [He says anyway, tries to rub at his eyes, though it mostly ends up as just shoving an entire loose sleeve into his groggy face. He might as well.] Um.

[Sits up a little more, keeping him there, all the same. He flounders a little, unsure what to do or say to reassure him-- doesn't want him to feel this uncertain when he just woke up on top of that.]

Keith...

[He pulls the blanket back up to drape over his shoulders, for something to do, and takes him gently by the wrist when he rubs at his face, rolling that sleeve back down for him. His own hand isn't shaking, but, well, it's an almost thing.]

I-- I'm sorry. I've made you uncomfortable, haven't I?

[Shakes his head, finally lifting his eyes enough to look at Shiro, a touch stubbornly despite his own confusion, and feeling like he should probably back up by now but. Well.]

Shiro. Shut up. I said you don't. [There's a a trace of care to the words, softer despite the blunt shape of them that he can't help, just because it's him. It's never that you could make him uneasy, and maybe that's the whole problem.] Stuff - happens. [Keith, no.]

Sorry I just fell asleep like that.

[He can't help the tiniest smile at those blunt words, buffered with care though they may be. It's such a Keith answer and... well. It's sweet. His assumption, though, makes his smile fade-- stuff happens? Sure. But not in this case.]

[He lets out a long sigh, looking uncertain for a moment. He didn't want to overwhelm Keith-- feels he's already done that enough, and yet. He also can't stomach the idea of Keith misunderstanding this, when they spent so long in general misunderstanding their feelings for each other.]

Keith. Baby. [He puts emphasis on it, pointedly, looking at him.] You have nothing to apologize for.

[He fidgets a little, feeling nervous despite himself. It's not like he doesn't know how Keith feels, and yet. He fiddles with the blanket he has draped over Keith's shoulders.]

... We're dating. In the future. I-- I love you. [He said that before, but definitely not with this emphasis.]

[It's like feeling a wave crashing down only for it to come back again stronger the second time it hits. We're dating. Then - I love you.]

... Oh. [Is the first, utterly incredulous, disbelieving sound he can manage to push out. He can vaguely see Shiro's hand fussing with the blanket at the edge of his vision, an absurd detail to pick up on while the rest of his brain struggles to lurch back into motion from the current state of static that it has turned into. Is he still asleep? Was all of this some weird and all too realistic, elaborate dream he's having? Oh, part of him can't help but think. This isn't actually real, is it?]

[At the same time, it puts Shiro's actions this whole time into focus so much more, his words, the things he's been saying so directly - undeniably. There's not a part of Keith that wants to truly doubt Shiro, and especially not the way he's saying he loves him so much more felt, for a second time. It floors him. It turns into a conflict inside him between the part of him that hasn't yet learned better, and the part that trusts Shiro.]

We're - [......... How?? ?] Wh-- [His voice turns small, shaky, and in the end it's himself that he can't trust, something wavering in his wide eyes.] How's that even possible?

[He knows how hard this is for him, can see it in his reactions and face, and it breaks his heart-- he knows he'll get there, but for now, all it does is make him ache a little, wanting to help him, wanting to reassure him, but knowing he can only do so much.]

Keith... [He touches his shoulder, his touch tentative but gentle, aiming for the familiar.]

You're kind and so brave. You've stood by me when nobody else would, and you never gave up on me. [Even if-- maybe you should have.] You're amazing and passionate. You're beautiful in so many ways and I'm so proud of you.

How's it even possible for me to not love you?

[It is familiar and it serves to ground him, keeps him from feeling like he should back off and run, but it also sends him reeling at the same time, ducking down again to shake his head, almost furiously.]

But I! What about-- [He closes his eyes tight, pushing out a breath, against the onslaught of self-doubt that carefully kept his feelings in check.] Shiro, all those things, I'm not-

[Squeezes his shoulder. He knows you can't see it right now, and that's alright. He already promised to not give up on him.]

Keith... [His voice is quiet, soothing, hating to see him like this and knowing there's nothing he can to make it better, other than continuing to say it.]

[He doesn't open his eyes, feels like he might let tears spill if he does, but every breath he takes like it's too much. His heart is pounding in his ears, only held at bay by the softness of Shiro's voice.]

Shiro.

[Almost hiccups over another intake of air, insisting still, though he's not sure for what he's arguing over more. It was already crazy enough to him that you'd put this much care into being in his life at all. His mouth closes tightly, with an unsteady tremble, doubt ready to burst - things Shiro doesn't deserve to have to listen to and yet. Fuck.] Shiro.

[The hand on his shoulder shifts back, splaying over his back and tugging gently.]

Come here. [His voice is gentle, not forcing but guiding Keith to press against him, his arm curling around him and holding him close, curling around him and hugging him.]

I understand. I feel it, too. So often I think to myself that you deserve so much better than me. But I know you'd never feel that way. [Rubs his back.] Even if you don't think you're worth it, trust that there's nobody else in the entire universe I'd rather be with than you.

That's crazy. [He mumbles softer into his chest, watery, but a little less strained, something like wonder in his voice. Of course he wouldn't - he'd never think that of him. It's hard for him to even believe they could feasibly share this feeling, but here's Shiro saying it and his words have never been anything but earnest and true. Keith's shoulders start to relax, tentatively.][..............] You - really...?

[He can't handle it but he never wants this to stop either, trembling in his hold, hugging him back. It kind of hits belatedly how this means not just that Shiro feels this way about him but that he knows Keith's feelings too and... god.]

Shiro... [More than ever, more than his own doubt or anything else, he wants to answer him properly, say what he's feeling, because those words mean too much not to.]
