Good Ending/Bad Ending meme
Do you get a happily ever after? Or a 'Rocks fall, everyone dies'? Why not both?

* Post your characters and set up two scenes. One with an ideal setting (They got what they always wanted, hit it big, became rich and famous, etc.) and one with a bad twist of events (They're homeless, everyone hates them, maybe they're even dying!).
* Others respond to one of the two settings (Or both in different comments, if they want!)
* Respond.
* ???
* Profit!!!

Just remember: no ending is set in stone, good endings can turn sour, and bad endings can be made better. Just see where it takes you and enjoy the ride!

Charles Xavier | Xmen: First Class
[info]ihearyouthink

Good Ending
Erik had made the right choice on the beach. He listened to Charles and let the missiles fall into the ocean, leaving the humans unharmed. It had really helped their case against the government for mutant kind. Charles had gone right to the top after that, giving proof of their help and the order to get rid of them on the beach. It was all that they needed to get a presidential order for his school to be a reality, without any interference from the CIA or other agencies.
The school had flourished, so quickly that soon Charles had to start other schools in different places throughout the country. It was what he had always dreamed of, mutants and humans living together equally.

Bad Ending
Charles had been taken in a raid on the mansion. A sniper, loaded with a variation of Stryker's serum had gotten a good shot in and Charles had been rendered powerless. No telepathy to defend himself with as he was pulled from his wheelchair and taken to an undisclosed location.

There, he had been tied to a chair and plied with more drugs to get him to talk. A scientist and guards with him atall times, trying to get him to say where the rest of his "mutant friends" were. He'd resisted at first, but soon he was too fuzzy to realize what he was saying. Some small part of his mind was able to hold off saying anything about where the mutants were hiding, instead going on about mutations and his original thesis on how they developed. He could hear a voice talking but wasn't aware it was his own, the words nonsensical and barely coherent.

There was little hope of rescue, all he could do was to hold out till they either gave up and killed him or overdosed him with the same end result. There was a very small hope that the serum would wear off if they ever let up on him and his telepathy would return. But that didn't look likely any time soon.

Erik wasn't entirely sure what had drove him to listen to Charles out on that beach but he had. Even when his views didn't really... well, they weren't the same as the telepath's. That didn't stop him from being there with the other man though. Charles had helped him and he was going to help him. Especially now that the school was pretty huge. Huge enough that there were some in different countries.

"What now, Charles?"

Charles has a contented smile as he turns to his friend. "Incredible, isn't it? There's more mutants every day. Soon we'll be the dominant species and in years to come....we'll be the norm for the human race."

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

*snickers* I planned to do both, bb. After we get some of the good one done.

"We were already the dominant species, Charles." It's said with an almost air of finality. Especially when the metal bender had already seen mutants as the superior race. Humans were nothing. "However you've managed to have your dream. That's what matters isn't it?"

[ooc: I have to figure out WHY Erik listened to Charles now. lol]

"It is indeed. Peace in our time, who would have thought..." He drags a hand along his desk thoughtfully. It was chock full of notes, books, everything he had learned over the years.

"One wonders what will come after us. A race even more amazing."

"I sure wouldn't have," he says idly. Why should there be peace in their time? Especially when they were the superior race. When they were so much better than the humans.

"Nothing more amazing will come, Charles. That is something you will eternally wish for."

"Ah, but you don't know that. DNA is an amazing thing, one never knows how it might order itself next." Charles would indeed hope to see more than just mutants in the future.

"Or it may be that it won't be in our lifetime, sadly. It does seem that every few millennia, evolution leaps forward."

They could keep him hidden and cut off from all sorts of things. But not everything, simply because they couldn't have any way of knowing exactly what sort of powers they would have to protect against.

Which would be why no one noticed, upon leaving Charles to his own devices for the time being, that the shadows behind the door had eyes. There was a soft, condescending tutting once they'd gone, closing the door behind them, "What have they done to you?" The voice was quiet, concerned and colored by a lilting French accent. Though the woman who owned it was little more than a darker shape in the shadows.

Charles was beyond understanding at the moment, an incoherent mumble as he believed himself to be talking to his captors again. He didn't even open his eyes or raise his head. Couldn't even sense who was there to rescue him.

It didn't much matter, really, since she was mostly talking to herself. She was just the reconnaissance, find him, make sure he was still breathing and all in one piece, and report back with a location so they knew where not to attack.

She eased forward, looking like nothing more than shadow come to life, red-on-black eyes curious, attentive, "You'll be alright." She said, "You aren't alone now."

His vision was still swimming in front of his eyes, not even sure if they were open or closed. But there was something comforting about the voice that was filtering through all of the drugs muddling his senses.

"...can't....won't tell you..." he manages to get out. He's not giving up any of his friends.

She was concerned by that, but it was about what they'd been expecting, better than some of them had been worried about, even, "It's alright, professor, you don't have to tell me, I know."

She tilted her head, eying him intently for a long moment, "Do you understand me?" She had to make sure of that before anything else.

She let the shadow recede, she didn't particularly like being skin, but she thought it would be at least a little more reassuring, "We suspected as much." She replied, "I need you to listen to me now. Listen and remember, you cannot leave this room until I come back for you. There will be a commotion, and a large one. It won't be pretty out there, but we know where you are now, you just have to stay here. Do you understand?"

One thing that you didn't do was take what was HIS. Charles Xavier, no matter how much the man was on the wrong side of things, was his and his alone. If anyone were to hurt the telepath it would be him. Not some humans who thought they could take the man from him. That just didn't do. So when he finds that Charles isn't where he should be back at the mansion he has Emma seek him out. It's the grave look on her face that has his anger spiking.

Erik made them take him to the compound and he couldn't help but smirk slightly. Oh how stupid they were. Stupid enough to have metal in places he could rip apart. So if Charles was paying attention to the sounds (the scientists and guards sure were) there's the creek of metal and the sounds of screaming throughout the building. He will kill anyone and everyone to take back what's his.

He doesn't even realize what's going on, still babbling on about anything he can without realizing the audience was gone and fighting the metal pieces coming at them from all sides.

He doesn't even stop mumbling as Erik comes into the room, unable to sense anyone without his telepathy.

The guards were stupid enough to draw guns out on him. Guns that were ripped from their hands and turned back on them. Some were shot and others ran in fear. The scientist, however, moved away from him like the coward he was trying to hide.

"What did you give him?"

There's a growl in Erik's voice even as he knelt down before the telepath framing his face. "Charles?" If the scientist didn't tell him soon what was given to him or how to cure it then he'd kill him too. Just like he planned to do with everyone in this place.

The scientist stutters out however many doses of truth serum plus Stryker's own serum to negate his powers. He says quickly that it isn't permanent and should wear off eventually and pleasedon'tkillhim!

Charles finally stops talking though it's uncertain if it's Erik's voice or he's too tired and finally run out of words to say. There's a sense that he's being called out of a very long fuzzy tunnel and tries to lift his head, his half opened eyes glazed over incoherently.

"Is there a way to make it wear off faster?"

"Why should I spare you? You're nothing."

Charles is limp as a rag doll as he's picked up off the chair. There's a long groan, almost a whine that escapes him as if now realizing he's being moved.

"Shh... quiet, Charles. You're going to be just fine."

The scientist looks like he might just faint, he's so pale, but he gets out that there is an antidote in the lab next door. If he helps him get it for Charles, that would be a good reason to spare him, right?

Charles tries to speak, to reply back, even if he's not sure what was said to him. "...can't find...mrff....stop...I won't....tell you..."
