Good Ending/Bad Ending meme
Do you get a happily ever after? Or a 'Rocks fall, everyone dies'? Why not both?

* Post your characters and set up two scenes. One with an ideal setting (They got what they always wanted, hit it big, became rich and famous, etc.) and one with a bad twist of events (They're homeless, everyone hates them, maybe they're even dying!).
* Others respond to one of the two settings (Or both in different comments, if they want!)
* Respond.
* ???
* Profit!!!

Just remember: no ending is set in stone, good endings can turn sour, and bad endings can be made better. Just see where it takes you and enjoy the ride!

He shushed the telepath gently, shifting his weight to get a better hold of him, "We're going home."

Not back to the mansion, of course, it was no longer safe there, but to the Brotherhood's current headquarters, a hotel that had belonged to one of Shaw's associates, it was useful to them as a secondary headquarters, enough rooms for everyone and a large enough kitchen that they could feed an army, if necessary.

Charles is restless the whole way there, mumbling now and again about mutations and his work, sometimes calling out that he won't tell them anything, they'll have to kill him first. Finally he quiets as if realizing nothing else bad was happening to him.

Orders were being given and relayed the whole way back to the HQ, and upon arriving there was another flurry of them, the first of which being for someone to find a wheelchair as soon as possible. Most of them after that covered the fact that Charles wasn't to be disturbed, and that Raven and Emma were in charge until Erik emerged again, and unless someone was gravely injured, or the building was on fire, he wasn't to be disturbed either.

Mostly because he was going to be keeping watch over Charles. It was going to be a few hours at a minimum before they could be sure if the cocktail of drugs was actually working its way out of his system or not, and if not, they'd have to call in the healer.

The moment the serum blocking his telepathy wears off, Charles just about sits bolt upright at the minds pouring in on him. One of which he recognizes instantly. "Erik!" his hands grabbing at the sides of his head to try and block them all out again before he got overwhelmed.

"It's alright, Charles, I'm right here." He'd even darted forward at the telepath's sudden movement, keeping to where he could be seen, reaching out to brush his fingers against the back of the other man's hand, "It's alright, you're safe now."

Charles fights back against the minds coming at him as a reflex, a few mutants passing out nearby unconscious before Erik's voice registers. He stops pulling away from the hands reaching for him and blinks confused at Erik standing over him. "....Erik? How...?" Was the man an illusion? Even with hearing his thoughts, Charles has to grip his wrist to be sure he's solid enough before collapsing back onto the cot with a shaky breath.

Safe. Finally.

The fallen would be tended to soon enough, if they weren't already being tended to. The Brotherhood looked after its own.

Erik wasn't about to let go of Charles' hand, not if the telepath still needed him as an anchor, "Picked you up in a sweep." He said, a flicker of amusement in the statement, "Been planning a raid on Stryker's base of operations for some time."

"Stryker..." Charles lets out the name as if it's a weight off his mind. There were few men that Charles despised and Stryker was one of the lucky few to get on his bad side. He finally lets go of Erik's wrist, letting his hand fall back on his side on the cot. He still feels a little thick from the medications but he's able to at least use his telepathy again. Charles rubs his temples with both hands, working on shoring up his defenses again. I'm sorry echoes in Erik's mind for knocking out the mutants he did, Charles trying to find a more stable state of mind for himself.

He shook his head at the apology, "It's fine. Honestly I was expecting something rather more drastic." And he was glad that the man seemed to have at least most of himself left. Erik wasn't sure how long he'd been there, though they'd been planning this raid for almost six months, and had learned that he was there about halfway through, but he might have been there longer.

Charles honestly has no idea how long he's been trapped there. Or even what day it is. Was it day or night? Not that it mattered.

He rubs at his eyes with a half laugh, half hysterical sob sound. Only one, letting himself be a little more human for a moment. "...I may be fractured mentally for awhile..." But he was alive, thanks to Erik.

His fingers rested lightly against the back of Charles' hand again, "As is to be expected after something like you've been through." He replied, "You'll have time to heal here, we aren't planning on moving out any time soon."

"...they probably think I'm gone." Charles now realizing the X-men are probably looking for him. But he also realizes sending a message from here might give away where Erik has his hideout. He's torn about asking if a message could be given to them that he was ok.

"You could put me on my doorstep, I would fare just as well." And be out of Erik's way, which was what he was always trying to tell Charles to do.

"We won't be returning you there, the mansion's no longer safe." He sighed, "From what we've gathered the students scattered when you were taken, they may have split up, they may be sticking together, all we know for sure is that they haven't been taken to any of the government facilities we keep track of."

On general principles, their raids were much smaller and much more quiet than the one they'd just done, a small strike team, rescuing one or two mutants at a time.

No. Not the mansion. His kids...

Charles would jump up and run right out of here to find them had he the ability. As it is, he can only push himself up on his elbows. "We have to find them, they may be in trouble or..." Before realizing he said we. "...I have to find them. The parents will be worried sick." He was feeling pretty ill himself thinking about any of them captured or hurt. Charles was still quite pale after his ordeal.

He caught hold of the other man's shoulder then, keeping him where he was, "We're looking for them." He replied, "quite likely some of them simply went home, we'll find them, Charles."

There were a few facilities that the Brotherhood always kept tabs on, Xavier's had always been one of those, which Erik had explained as their needing to know if any students were leaving the place, because if so they needed to be given another option.

It shows how weak Charles is that Erik's able to keep him down with only one hand. He falls back into the pillow, reaching up to pinch the bridge of his nose with a sigh. "Weak as a kitten..." he didn't like being an invalid. Hasn't liked it since he lost his legs. "The parents will roast me alive, and I don't blame them."

"They probably will." He replied, "But some of them will understand who is truly at fault." Not many, he was sure, but a few, maybe even enough, though he doubted that, people tended to trust their governments, even when they shouldn't.
