[Here is Sougo.

Watch as Sougo is slurping and stuffing his face with ramen. What a mess he's making!

And then he decides talking is a good idea.]

This is some shit. Finally got people from my world, but they're assholes. Why couldn't it be anyone good?

[Sluuuuurps more noodles.]

And then some asshole destroyed the one hangout that was actually decent.

[Sluuuuurps.]

Well whatever. Guess I shouldn't expect much from this shitty place anyway.

Hi, everyone! I hope it's not too early, but I did kind of forget to make an announcement yesterday... [ And she needed to get her uniform cleaned, to make the best first impression in her blue-and-silver suit! ]

For those of you who won't know me, my name is Subaru Nakajima. I'm part of the Defense Force here in Marina, and I'll be starting a new class today. It is called "Emergency Training" because I really can't think of a better title for it, eheh!

[ Deep breath. ] The purpose of the class is to run everyone through procedures that will benefit them in case of an emergency. How to use a fire extinguisher, navigate to proper exits in case of an accident, administer basic first aid, perform CPR... lots of little pieces of knowledge that'll help both you and others stay safer and healthier in case of an emergency!

I may not be an instructor, but I think I have appropriate qualifications. I'll also have volunteers cycling in to give their own unique perspectives, and to help me fill in gaps in what I've put together.

I believe it'll be for the benefit of everyone if you attended, even just once. The first class will be today at 11 AM in the Education Center.

I hope to see lots of you there! [ Subaru waves to the camera before ending the transmission. ]

((OOC: You're free to hand-wave attendance of this class, too! First "lesson" is going over fire drills, how to navigate to exits while avoiding fire and smoke, and operating fire extinguishers.))

[Nasuti makes her way to the library to return a few books and pick up a few more. It's still a few good hours before dark, so she settles into a dark corner of the library and turns on her feed, a stack of books towering on each side of her, framing the desk.]

I figured I've waited long enough to get this started, especially with all the changes that've been going on.

I'm going to start up a book club for any of you bibliophiles out there. I think it's a great opportunity for a bit of escapism, intellectual stimulation, and getting to know more about each other!

Consider this the sign-up! As soon as I get enough people (at least six?) and their availability, we'll get started!

[ooc: For ease, feel free to use this form as a guide for what information Nasuti would want in order to organize a book club. It's ooc for organizational purposes, to avoid any confusion.]

[ He'd come to the library on a whim thanks to a conversation he'd had earlier. It reminded him of something, something he'd been considering ever since he landed in this place. Now the urge to read the entire selection itself was far too tempting. So there he was, volume in hand as he thumbed through the pages in search for that one passage.

You're in for a little poetry today, it seems, inmates. ]

The mind is in its own place, and in itself
Can make a Heaven of Hell, a Hell of Heaven.
What matter where, if I be still the same
And what I should be, all but less than he
Whom thunder hath made greater? Here at least
We shall be free: the Almighty hath not built
Here for his envy, will not drive us hence:
Here we may reign secure and in my choice
To reign is worth ambition, though in Hell:
Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven.

[ And the volume is closed with a decisive thud. He takes a moment to set it down before taking his glasses off and wiping them with a handkerchief. ]

I can't help but wonder if any of you have considered that little passage in reference to our plight. It came to mind, earlier. Should we accept our fate as it is and make the most of the situation or should we fight to regain our freedom? It is after all, what we make of this place.

[ And the smallest smile. ]

Call me a curious man.
[ The 162nd Day ]
09 April 2012 at 04:35 pm
Good morning, everyone! Today is the 162nd day of the third generation, and it is still chilly, but will remain clear. I have a very important question for you all to think about today...

[Sentience pauses. The robot appears to be in the butterfly pavilion this morning, but you won't find it there, and in fact the pavilion is strangely calm; all the butterflies are perfectly still, as if sleeping.]

I know that Acumen has asked this once before, but I ask you again, sincerely. ...I want you to think about the importance of freedom, compared to the importance of safety. Would you rather that I give you the freedom to do what you wished, or would you rather that I protected you from each other, even if that means that I may have to deny you things you want, or interfere in your lives in ways you may not want?

[...after a beat] Think about it, and let me know your thoughts in the next few days.

Either way, today I have removed the debris from the former site of the Devil's Compass. As per request, I will be beginning efforts to rebuild it. Any inmate who is interested in helping in the reconstruction is welcome to do so!

And finally, Sasha, your requests have been installed in the handicraft room at the education center; and Snowman and PM, your requests are available at the shelter. You can ask any robot there, and they will retrieve it for you.

[wow. w o w what did hijikata ever do to deserve this, huh—? wait, don't answer that.

as of right now, all the vice-chief can offer is a short, tired laugh with that demonic grin of his. hijikata's fatigue is apparent; his wounds may have been healed, but that still doesn't do anything about the fact that the issue with itou had only recently gotten resolved with his life and nothing beyond that. what use was resolving that bullshit if all hijikata had to show for it was fucking prison?

he sounds more than indignant when he begins to speak.]

You think this is funny? Is it? Cop stuck in prison— [it takes more than just effort to try and keep calm and not throw around his restraint everywhere and cause property damage, (not that he could, anyway) and it shows. clearly. hijikata's temple has one laaarge vein about to pop out from irritation. he's probably going to get an ulcer soon, too. words can't describe how much he wants to kill everything right now.]hilarious. Go laugh in hell, you bastard.

[obligatory scary face included.]

I got things to do, and this isn't one of them. Sougo! Fun's over.

[. . .

there's no response. hijikata waits... and waits... and waits. ......... what. does this mean he's alone in this scary place?? guys???]

Sougo!!
