[ There is Suzaku. There is Suzaku with his eyes as though carved from stone.

He opens his mouth to say that Euphie is no longer in the Dome, which means that she is gone back to her death and what comes out? ]

How oft when men are at the point of death
Have they been merry! which their keepers call
A lightning before death: O, how may I
Call this a lightning? Euphie! Gone! ... for good...

[ ... Two bright blotches appear on Suzaku's cheeks because WHAT IS THIS EVEN and how can any of it be said to be for good, and he cuts the transmission. ]

[ It's not easy to find him, really. Between knowing that Euphie is gone and dead, and the whole poetry spouting thing (the former far more problematic than the latter, because he had a second chance to be her Knight here, and he failed her again all the same) he just. Is not up for being around people. It's not fair to people.

But eventually she can find him off close to the wall of the Dome, staring out towards the water of the ocean surrounding them. The nonexistent ocean around nonexistent bubble around nonexistent people, shone on by a nonexistent sun.

Cheerful, yes. ]

[ It does take a while, but as Lelouch knows, she can be surprisingly stubborn when she chooses. When she does come upon him, she just comes and stands beside him, not saying anything right now. ]

[ He notices her, of course. He hears her long before she is standing beside him, but she does not speak, and though he wants to tell her she should go to the one person who will be more affected than himself by what happened...

He doesn't. Not yet. Partly because he doesn't know what words will be coming out of his mouth, of course, but also...

It's that easy. You wake up, and somebody is gone. Somebody who has no future. And he knows, he knows he doesn't deserve the comfort of another presence, anyone's presence, yet he can't push her away. Not for the first few moments, at least. ]

[ It's a good thing witches know better than sad boys trying so hard to be knights. C.C. has never pitied Suzaku -- they've all done too much to deserve pity. But if he doesn't deserve a little comfort, than none of them do.

She reaches up, telegraphing her movements, and pets his hair. ]

And what do I deserve? Do I deserve this?

But the sincerity in her voice is difficult to fake, and Suzaku knows by now that she is not very prone to displaying any emotions.

He squeezes his eyes with a small nod, and two tears roll down his cheeks. ]

We should profane the service of the dead,
To sing a requiem and such rest to her
As to peace-parted souls.

[ Oh. The tears catch her off guard; they make his grief much more immediate. She's not sure what to do -- Lelouch never cries where she can see, even when she held him after the first time Euphemia died. She has... hmmm. She pulls a bit of her sleeve over her hand and uses it to wipe Suzaku's tears away. ]

You'd be pretty eloquent right now. [ Tries for a little, very gentle teasing. And gives a faint, sad smile. ]
