[ There's something vaguely familiar about what's happening today, even if Spike can't quite put his finger on what it is. It's almost as if he'll be struck with a similar musical curse back home in the not to distant future, except it hasn't happened yet and he only remembers it from other, weird happenings here.

Anyway. He goes about his day the best he can, spending most of the afternoon well into evening at the Blood Shack, working a long shift and idly wondering how long he'll be able to stand having bots around before he gives in and takes over the place himself. Not the kind of responsibility he's looking for but anything has to be better than this. At least he can waste some time chatting with customers. ]

((ooc: Spike will talk entirely in song lyrics from Sex Pistols and the Ramones. If you're familiar with punk music, you'll see why this may be, uh. Interesting. ))

((OOC: So, I was going to get in touch about a 'date night' for these two but this looks like so much fun, how could I resist? Jack is unaffected, this time!))

[He's been meaning to look Spike up but he hasn't got around to it (or maybe he's actually secretly nervous and won't admit it to himself) but tonight at the end of his evening patrol he finds himself glancing towards the gate into Sector 5 where Spike will no doubt be working his shift at the Blood Shack.

What the hell. He likes Spike, and Spike deserves more from him than just going to him for help or just bumping into him randomly.

He heads into the Blood Shack and across to where Spike is behind the bar.

Hey. Fancy going out for a drink somewhere? Or here, if you're not too fed up with it?

[ Whether it's a way to protect himself or Jack or Ianto or all three of them, Spike has opted for letting Jack come to him for the time being. It's worked okay in the past and truth be told he's not sure what he'd even say if he was the one to approach Jack — fancy a shag? Let's get absolutely wasted and get this over with? Who even knows. Maybe he'd just punch him in the face and hope that counts as foreplay. Best not to find out.

He looks up as Jack enters the bar, expression one of genuine excitement. It's nice to feel happy about seeing Jack, like in the good old days. As if nothing is wrong at all, he responds: ]

You won't find me working nine to five, it's too much fun a being alive.

[Actually, however fond he is of flirting and innuendo, Jack's a great fan of the direct approach too. Any one of those approaches would probably work - hell, the punching one already would have done on several occasions if it had been possible under the wardens' rules!

As it is, that look of definite interest on Spike's face is good encouragement, although the reply he gets to his proposal makes him take a double take.]

[That's just a touch too poetic for Jack - though he can see how such lyrics might appeal to the poet in Spike - but it does sound vaguely familiar, and he squints at Spike's back as he follows him out the door.

Then it comes to him, and he groans because, really, what could be more appropriate for Spike?]

Oh! Sex Pistols, right? [He may not have had much time for popular music, but some songs just get played a LOT and God Save The Queen is one of them.]

[It's amazing how loud Spike's eye rolls can be, he can actually hear them even he can only see Spike's back!

He shrugs, and decides to just go with it. This is who Spike is today; not much he can do about it!]

All right, I'll let it go. Where do you want to go? I was thinking perhaps somewhere with pool or darts or something- [So they don't have to just talk until they've at least got some alcohol inside them to ease the way] -but the only place I could think of is the arcade. I guess we could take our own alcohol?

[He's not sure quite how well conversation is going to work this evening, but perhaps they won't need that much. Booze and pub sports should fill in for at least some of it.]

All right, let's get out of here. [He's quite relieved that they've got somewhere else to go, considering all the associations the Blood Shack has for Spike with Ianto. He really wants them to make this their own thing on their own terms.]
