[Funnily enough, Sebastian's insistence on style is a direct result of how passionate he is about what he does. He can't help it if demons are reduced to being passionate about superficial things if everything is superficial and meaningless to a demon.

There's a small grove of planted trees not far away. Sebastian walks over. Unceremoniously breaks one of the smaller ones over his knee (that's property damage, inmate). There.]

Is that how you would phrase it? [How crass. How accusatory. What is the man insinuating - that he can tell right off what Sebastian is? That won't do; Sebastian can't allow that. After all, outwardly...] This is simply the calibre my master requires of his servants.

[The young master wants the best there is, so that's what Sebastian has to be. Simple as that.

Were Sebastian more prone to reflect on if he's feeling all right or not, he'd probably recognise his thoughts as unnecessarily defensive all of a sudden. But nah. He returns to Spike with his newly acquired torch in hand, still as outwardly calm and pleasant as before.]

The identity of my master? [Sebastian tilts his head just so. Doesn't take his eyes off Spike. Smile widening slightly.] I do wonder how come someone with such connections would take an interesting in that?

[Had Spike been human, or standing a little further away, dodging would be more of an afterthought than anything else. As it is, the hit partially connects and Sebastian's head is knocked back accordingly.

What a heinous thing to do to Sebastian's pretty face. When he turns it back to look at the rude little thing before him there's a red mark on his cheek with a drop of blood trickling down the side of his face, but for all of that, Sebastian looks more annoyed than disoriented or in pain. His eyebrows go up when seeing the game face, but he's not intimidated.]

I do suppose that's what I get, trying to reason with something like this.

[Ah, here's where it would be useful to have more than two arms - both of his are occupied, and he's not about to let go of his newly acquired torch. Sebastian does the logical thing: yanks Spike closer and off the ground in one quick movement, and unless Spike reacts equally fast, he's sent flying into that previously mentioned thicket of trees.]

[ Sebastian should count himself lucky that Spike didn't swing his torch at him, though in retrospect that might've been the better option. As it is he drops it during his brief flight through the air, leaving it to burn on the ground. Had he been human, that hit into the trees could've seriously injured him but as it is it just knocks him about a bit. Nothing big, really. He does this every night back home.

Bouncing back onto his feet with a string of curses, he contemplates what to do next. Fight? That does seem like something he'd do but there's nothing in it for him here. No glory to win, no real argument to settle — he's not even entirely sure why this is a thing that's happening, other than that Sebastian is a complete and utter psychopath. You don't mess with those without good reason. ]

I've met some real nasty pieces of work but you take the bloody cake, mate. [ And with those words, he begins to back away, quite happy to leave Sebastian to the raptors. ]

Sebastian has no issue with killing, of course, and right now every protective, possessive instinct in his being is screaming at him to stalk after Spike and make very sure he won't ever cross his line of vision again.

Ah... it's tempting, but he's not about to give up on his self-control just because a rude, entitled child thinks he has any chance of stealing anything that belongs to Sebastian. A Phantomhive butler kills on his master's orders, not beyond that. Sebastian remains where he is, letting Spike back away as he pleases.]

Do keep what I said in mind. I appreciate the light, by the way.

[Oh- and for that matter, speaking of murderous butlers, Sebastian realises there's a certain someone else he should make sure has no funny thoughts about Ciel, and that someone truly ought to take precedence. Torch in hand, he turns and leaves.
