There are occurrences every now and again. At least that's what I've been told by others who have been her for longer.

[He's about to continue along that train of thought when he can feel more of the raptors approaching. Or maybe they're the same ones he and Rean first came close to encountering.

They're finally closing in on a building (he can't be too sure what exactly it is due to the lack of proper light), but the raptors are quick.]

[ Rean's ready to run before Kazuki can yell the suggestion -- but in a split second, he realizes just how quick the raptors are... and how they lunging towards Kazuki.

Without thinking, he springs forward, instantly coming between Kazuki and the lunging raptors with his wooden stick in hand, ready to strike (however ineffective that was considering his weapon).... ]

[Kazuki, himself, was already prepared to cover while Rean went ahead, but it seems the other is thinking the exact same thing. Which he can't just allow, especially considering how the other is basically unarmed.

He's not about to let anyone get killed on his watch.]

[There's hardly even a split second for Kazuki to react. He uses one hand to shove Rean out of the way. Even while half-running, still, his other arm extends out. Along with his eyes, that hand glows a bright gold, and only a moment later are both of the raptors swallowed up in a great mass of green crystals, shattering into pieces in the moment to follow.

Kazuki is hit right after with the feeling of being extremely lightheaded but he pushes forth, anyway. A number of raptors aren't very far behind their now-dead comrades.]

Come on, we're really close.

[He manages to say, this time grabbing Rean by the arm to force him along.]

Thanks back there. That was amazing. [ Rean pauses and decides he should ask anyway. If Kazuki doesn't want to talk about it, then he'll drop the subject. ]

If you don't mind me asking, what was that?

[ Monsters turning into crystals isn't really anything too far-fetched for Rean, coming from a world where monsters were a reliable source of sepith crystals. Orbal arts allowed them to perform arts all sorts of arts that people must have labelled as 'magic' before the orbal revolution... but it doesn't look like Kazuki has something like that on him. Rean doesn't, either. ]

It's called assimilation. It's a manner of turning any sort of matter into crystals. ["matter" as it works on more than just living beings.]

	The orbment itself isn't a weapon. I had a tachi, though. Anyway, my ARCUS unit is about this big [ He makes a gesture for something that's about as big as the palm of his hand. ]. It's a case with slots to put quartz in. Quartz are basically crystals that either help strengthen us or let us use orbal arts. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

It has been for such a long while, even though the past two years things have been more peaceful. Nothing is perfect, and they will always be on their guard, but it's more than they've had in years.]
