[ It wasn't that long ago that Captain Woodstock, the great big bloody hero, told him that maybe he could do more with his time here. It's not dying in the ruins of a crumbling Sunnydale, but it's something, isn't it? Keeping people safe. He's done it before, he can do it again and unlike the flood, this is like playing in his own backyard.

So, armed with a flaming torch (fire is so much more useful than a set of AA batteries), night vision and fangs that haven't tasted fresh blood in weeks, Spike sets out to be the goddamn hero for one. Prepared to be saved whether you want to or not. ]

[With one hand more akin to a claw, razor-sharp elongated nails, and covered in blood nearly to his elbow, Zero doesn't expect to see the raptor he was just about to wipe out go up in flames.]

I was able to handle that myself.

[Only then does he see who the other is. Oh.]

[ He's pumped up from actually having something to do in this dump and so it takes him a moment or two before he realizes just whose kill he just stole. ]

Oh. It's you.

[No lie, he's rather likes the rush that this situation is offering them just as well. Not that he'll be the most up front about it.]

Were you here the last time this happened?

Yeah, course I was. [ He sneers. Anyone else asking and he'd keep the attitude down. ] What, you don't know the etiquette of raptor killing or what?

Because of course there is such a thing.

[A bit flat. He almost rolls his eyes, but now's not the time.]

I'm just wondering if there's more to just these attacks and the power outage.

I'm asking you because I am. You do know more about this place than I do. I'm not exactly thinking about something that happened days ago, now.

[Look: an idiot.

Which is to say there's this fellow, who is a) out completely on his own, b) dressed more like he's about to serve at some fancy banquette than fight monsters, c) carrying no visible weapon, d) carrying no light source whatsoever...

and finally e) making the clever life decision of not running as a swarm of hyena wasps heads straight towards him. Instead, he stands in the middle of the street, looking up at the approaching swarm thoughtfully.]

Huh. It seems I slightly misjudged what type of creature this is.

[ Oh, it is an idiot. Normally he'd just be on his merry way or perhaps watch from a safe distance for entertainment value but he kind of promised himself he'd at least try to help out the next time something like this happens. He needs the points. He needs the excitement, even more so. ]

Oi! [ He calls out, still keeping some distance with his flaming torch. ] I'd get out of there if I was you, mate!

[...And doesn't follow it.

There's not much time to escape anyway - just a few seconds later the wasps are upon him. Contrary to what his looks would suggest, Sebastian ducks with remarkable agility just before the first wasp flies right into him, and runs, hunched over, in their direction.

It's a good evasion tactic, at least at first. The first ten or so wasps haven't the time to change direction before they've already passed right over Sebastian's head. The tail end of the swarm, however, adjust their direction and charge slightly downwards instead, meaning they do collide with him. Even so Sebastian doesn't stop or even slow down until the entire swarm has passed him, and in the flurry it might be hard to see if there's just colliding happening or if any of the wasps actually manage to sting him.]

[ Well. This is interesting. They really do have a live idiot in the dome and although he could help or move on Spike finds himself watching, interest piqued. The guy doesn't handle himself badly, that much can be said.

After, when the swarm has scarpered, he gives a slow clap. Well done. ]

[The entire swarm doesn't scarper. There's one single hyena wasp down on the ground, its body broken so there's no chance for it to fly away. It's twitching pathetically, emitting the occasional laughing sound. Most likely, it's dying any minute now.

Sebastian looks down at it for a moment as he dusts his hands off (can't walk around with pieces of insect wings on his gloves, now can he). That should do nicely, in case Madam Red would like a sample to facilitate the work in the clinic. No, she didn't ask for one, but Sebastian is that adorable dog that brings back dead things and leaves them on your doorstep.]

[He brings a hand up to gingerly touch at the wound in his neck. Ah, he'll have to change into a clean shirt before reporting back to Ciel and his aunt. It won't do to show up before them with blood running down his collar.

Sebastian turns his attention to his audience. Smiles and starts walking over.]

What a clever idea, to bring a torch. [Maybe Sebastian should have thought of that? In addition to the wound in his neck there seems to be at least three places where Sebastian's suit has torn, blood already staining the fabric. That's how many wasp stings that he apparently isn't bothered by at all?]

[ Well well... an idiot and a bad ass. He's getting some flashbacks here, to the cool cruelty of Tyki, the unsettling vibe that always came off Piter like so much miasma. It gives him a shudder, a tingle, a feeling that this guy, whoever he is, is someone to keep an eye on. ]

Not my first time at the rodeo, mate. [ He cocks his head, looking over the wounds, a little envious. He may be impervious to syphilis, but drugs and venoms still mess him up. ] I'm Spike.

[info]servingdinner

[Give the venom a minute to take effect. Until then, Sebastian doesn't even consider the possibility that a to him unknown creature could affect him in any way. The puncture wounds sting, as wounds do, but how pathetic wouldn't it be to dwell on that? He could have the wounds heal up in seconds - so he assumes - but that's such a distinctly inhuman thing to be able to do that now, when he has company, he opts for leaving them open. Such normal, very human.]

Sebastian Michaelis. [Idek if Spike is the kind of nerd who'd recognise the name. He doesn't bow, but he places a hand over his heart at the introduction.] It's my pleasure, Mr Spike.

Do things of this nature happen frequently, then?

[Peter knows he should be ashamed of himself, waking up in the library without any finals to blame but it's not the first night he's spent in a place like this and if we're to be honest - it won't be the last. The only thing is when you have one spider-suit (really should make more, Peter, invest a little time in your one true hobby-) and you finally get around to washing it and hanging it up to dry of course that next morning it's pitch black raptor town and you have to navigate your way home to get it.

Spidey senses are great and intact, but swinging through the dome in the dark's just asking for trouble. He hits the streets with the determination to get back to grab his suit and make himself useful but naturally there's a little bit of a walk on the way. He's not fearful or skittish at all, frankly quite determined, though he'll attempt to amp up the 'nerves' should he run into anyone on the way. He's just an ordinary dude, eh? No... mutated DNA here. No sir. Totally didn't glob you on the face last time they met, Spike. Not at all. Still taste you to this day. Bad memories all around.]

[ You're a nerdy nerd, Peter. A nerdy nerd who gets what he deserves and you're so lucky that he's trying to be at least not a massive ass today. He's dumped the flaming torch by now, vampire senses serving him just as well as he slinks through the darkness. Don't think he doesn't see you, or recognize you — that's a scent he'll have some problems getting out of his nose. ]

You shouldn't be walking alone like this. Lots of thing out here that go bump in the night.

[Peter's senses twinge to give him a warning that something's headed his way, and relief is quickly overwritten by the fact he realizes that voice to belong to Spike. Could he run into anyone else? Still, he's not at all sure if Spike knows it was him in the suit so he's - cautiously optimistic. Maybe this won't be another horrible thing.]

Uh. You know those late night milk runs, super important. [It's night when it's dark out, okay.]
