DAY 365 — Anniversary Festival Mingle

Happy Day 365, Marina Nova!

Hear ye, hear ye! Inmates, prisoners, fellow underwater dwellers! Lend me your ears and hands and actually just bring all of you because we're having a ye olde Renaissance Faire to celebrate a full year in this bubble under the sea!

The dome has of course been decked out appropriately. Flickering torches light the pathways, interspersed with larger bonfires that you can cosy up to with that special someone - or perhaps just a glass of honey mead. Pennant banners hang across the gates and along the buildings, sporting the proud coat of arms of the prison (a lot of purple and octopi, for some reason) and many of the clothing stores offer time-appropriate options for those of you who still knows how to have fun. The kiosk has even been re-imagined into a castle.

Many areas within the dome has activities to partake in and, if you're skilled or lucky or both, prizes to win!

Sector 5 Gamegrounds: What better way to show your bravery than by participating in a series of tests of strength and cunning? Sector 5 provides the inmates with a chance to try such varied sports as varpa, caber tossing, ring toss or the very dignified sport of rövkrok, a type of wrestling that requires skill as well as no sense of shame. Not tough enough for you? There are also friendly foam weapons and armor available for those who want to engage in a chivalrous bout of hand to hand combat, test your archery skills — or maybe convince another prisoner to give you a piggyback ride and go jousting!

Competitors that do well enough and show outstanding bravery may be rewarded with a handful of rehab points, or a personalized pennant — or maybe a kiss from the lord or lady of your choosing!

Less violent activities: Not into skewering your neighbors on spears? Maybe you'd rather relax with a game of knucklebones, pick up sticks or Nine Men's Morris. Boards and instructions are readily available in several areas. If you're more creatively inclined there's also activity tables on offer where you can create your own coat of arms, bind yourself a flower crown or learn the art of illumination.

Food: The food carts in sector 0 are now carrying food fit for the occasion. Whole roasted pigs and poultry, wild rabbit in plum sauce, thick beef stews smelling of rich saffron, roasted vegetables (no potatoes here, no sir!) and cream-stewed cabbage for the vegetarians among us. If you're still hungry there's saffron pancake, ginger and clove cookies or bread pudding with raisins for dessert. There's plenty of mulled wine, honey mead, foaming beer, honeyd applewater and lingonberry juice to wash it down with. Enjoy!

Dance: As is custom, there will be a dance at the beach at the end of the day. Great fires will roar and a band of robots will strike up music suitable for dancing! Dress up in your finest satin and velvet, brush the extrement off your shoes and grab a partner!

Enjoy!

We should check out the restaurants as well. There's probably a bunch of them. I will, though. [he watches him a little curiously.] Maybe I could teach you a few things, too, if you'd ever want?

[Not that Kazuki is at all a teacher-type. It could be fun.]

Mead. I think. It's not too sweet. [He overheard that as well. He pauses, however, suddenly feeling foolish.] Or maybe they personally consider it a low content. . .

[Maybe he shouldn't drink anymore.]

There certainly are a lot of them. They're bound to serve foods we've not had before. [Foods that were lost when the world ended.] I know enough to get by and can make anything that has a recipe.

[It's better than saying that he has a vending machine eleven steps away. Because they both know he was eating every meal from that vending machine.]

Besides, nothing I made would ever taste as good as your food.

[Not that he's going to rely on Kazuki to make all of their meals. Soushi will make food for the both of them occasionally.]

It's not too sweet by your standards or by mine? [Seeing how many times he's come by the cafe, Kazuki should know how sweet Soushi will accept things.] How much have you had already?

All the more reason to try as many as we can.

[He doesn't need to say it because Kazuki already knows. Damn vending machine.]

That's not necessarily true. [smiling to that, pleased just at the thought.] Don't be so pessimistic.

[He doesn't really need to think to know.] More so mine. It'd likely be too much for you. Also, that's the only glass I've had.

We will. I'm sure we'll go to ever restaurant.

[That vending machine was his main source of food, okay? Don't diss the machine.]

I'm not being pessimistic, merely realistic.

[He holds out a hand. Soushi will at least take a sip to try it.] What else have you tried?

I'll ask around for recommendations, too, then.

[Something to look forward to!]

And I'm saying I'll enjoy what you make for us.

[Because it's you, okay, Soushi.

He gets the drink to hand over.]

There was this berry juice, but that was too sweet even for me. And another which I think was wine.
