DAY 365 — Anniversary Festival Mingle

Happy Day 365, Marina Nova!

Hear ye, hear ye! Inmates, prisoners, fellow underwater dwellers! Lend me your ears and hands and actually just bring all of you because we're having a ye olde Renaissance Faire to celebrate a full year in this bubble under the sea!

The dome has of course been decked out appropriately. Flickering torches light the pathways, interspersed with larger bonfires that you can cosy up to with that special someone - or perhaps just a glass of honey mead. Pennant banners hang across the gates and along the buildings, sporting the proud coat of arms of the prison (a lot of purple and octopi, for some reason) and many of the clothing stores offer time-appropriate options for those of you who still knows how to have fun. The kiosk has even been re-imagined into a castle.

Many areas within the dome has activities to partake in and, if you're skilled or lucky or both, prizes to win!

Sector 5 Gamegrounds: What better way to show your bravery than by participating in a series of tests of strength and cunning? Sector 5 provides the inmates with a chance to try such varied sports as varpa, caber tossing, ring toss or the very dignified sport of rövkrok, a type of wrestling that requires skill as well as no sense of shame. Not tough enough for you? There are also friendly foam weapons and armor available for those who want to engage in a chivalrous bout of hand to hand combat, test your archery skills — or maybe convince another prisoner to give you a piggyback ride and go jousting!

Competitors that do well enough and show outstanding bravery may be rewarded with a handful of rehab points, or a personalized pennant — or maybe a kiss from the lord or lady of your choosing!

Less violent activities: Not into skewering your neighbors on spears? Maybe you'd rather relax with a game of knucklebones, pick up sticks or Nine Men's Morris. Boards and instructions are readily available in several areas. If you're more creatively inclined there's also activity tables on offer where you can create your own coat of arms, bind yourself a flower crown or learn the art of illumination.

Food: The food carts in sector 0 are now carrying food fit for the occasion. Whole roasted pigs and poultry, wild rabbit in plum sauce, thick beef stews smelling of rich saffron, roasted vegetables (no potatoes here, no sir!) and cream-stewed cabbage for the vegetarians among us. If you're still hungry there's saffron pancake, ginger and clove cookies or bread pudding with raisins for dessert. There's plenty of mulled wine, honey mead, foaming beer, honeyd applewater and lingonberry juice to wash it down with. Enjoy!

Dance: As is custom, there will be a dance at the beach at the end of the day. Great fires will roar and a band of robots will strike up music suitable for dancing! Dress up in your finest satin and velvet, brush the extrement off your shoes and grab a partner!

Enjoy!

It... [ . . . Well, he's never seen it do such before. He speaks even as his hand returns to normal.] Instead, Jae-ha prefers to use his foot to soar through the sky and kick. I do not think he would care to expand it if he knows how.

So the Ryokuryuu really flies? Does his foot has scales or is he like Zeno?

He jumps so high that it might as well be flying.

[It's... an experience to be upon his back while doing so.]

His leg is rarely visible beneath his clothes and boots. However, he is more like myself than Zeno. But I do not think he would be comfortable showing it off.

O-oh. Got it. If I ever meet him, I won't ask him to see his leg or his jumps.

I have yet to notice him really hide his ability, but that might be the best option when it comes to his leg.

Is he embarrassed?

In the end I cannot really say. I have my opinions, but we are very different from one another. I cannot presume to speak for him more than I have.

Oh, alright. I understand that. I won't ask him if he's embarrassed either, then.

I am sure that he will find you to be very charming. You needn't worry too much or anything.

I still don't want to butt in or upset him. [She's uncertain. He seems to be a more complicated guy than Kija. Maybe about as complicated as Zeno? And she was convinced he disliked her when they met, when she didn't know he was so kind.] I try not to ask others too much about their past or the things that make them sad.

Do you need tips, at least? [She glances at the flower crown attempt.]

[With a frown he glances back down at his flower crown.]

If you have any then I would gladly welcome them.

[She points out at the end of a flower stem.] Tip, tip!

Okay, now seriously. It's better to use big flowers with a longer stem as the main base. Small flowers work better weaved to the big flowers as just decoration.

So something like this...?

[Attempting to weave one of the smaller ones in. It takes a bit of work and again-- his claw gets in the way a bit, but he's also determined.]

Um... Start with a larger flower. That might be a bit small for you.

Mm.

[Reaching for a different one and trying that out. Only while he tries to weave this one the steam snaps.]

Ah- this one snapped too. [There's a pile of snapped ones beside him.]

Mm. [Pausing from his work he looks up to smile at her.] I feel that it will mean more if I can finish it. But I am grateful to you for your help, Miss Kaya. You are very thoughtful.

Ah, like when I feel useful when I chop the vegetables of my stews even if it's uneven, that sort of thing.

A-ah, don't mention it! You're doing so much for me, and Zeno really likes you.

I consider Zeno as a brother. So I am glad for that.

[All of them are important to him.]

We should be thanking you. I can tell that Zeno has learned much from you, Miss Kaya.

I would disagree. You both sound very much alike. Perhaps it is that your smile is infectious, but I can tell that there is much of you in him.
