DAY 365 — Anniversary Festival Mingle

Happy Day 365, Marina Nova!

Hear ye, hear ye! Inmates, prisoners, fellow underwater dwellers! Lend me your ears and hands and actually just bring all of you because we're having a ye olde Renaissance Faire to celebrate a full year in this bubble under the sea!

The dome has of course been decked out appropriately. Flickering torches light the pathways, interspersed with larger bonfires that you can cosy up to with that special someone - or perhaps just a glass of honey mead. Pennant banners hang across the gates and along the buildings, sporting the proud coat of arms of the prison (a lot of purple and octopi, for some reason) and many of the clothing stores offer time-appropriate options for those of you who still knows how to have fun. The kiosk has even been re-imagined into a castle.

Many areas within the dome has activities to partake in and, if you're skilled or lucky or both, prizes to win!

Sector 5 Gamegrounds: What better way to show your bravery than by participating in a series of tests of strength and cunning? Sector 5 provides the inmates with a chance to try such varied sports as varpa, caber tossing, ring toss or the very dignified sport of rövkrok, a type of wrestling that requires skill as well as no sense of shame. Not tough enough for you? There are also friendly foam weapons and armor available for those who want to engage in a chivalrous bout of hand to hand combat, test your archery skills — or maybe convince another prisoner to give you a piggyback ride and go jousting!

Competitors that do well enough and show outstanding bravery may be rewarded with a handful of rehab points, or a personalized pennant — or maybe a kiss from the lord or lady of your choosing!

Less violent activities: Not into skewering your neighbors on spears? Maybe you'd rather relax with a game of knucklebones, pick up sticks or Nine Men's Morris. Boards and instructions are readily available in several areas. If you're more creatively inclined there's also activity tables on offer where you can create your own coat of arms, bind yourself a flower crown or learn the art of illumination.

Food: The food carts in sector 0 are now carrying food fit for the occasion. Whole roasted pigs and poultry, wild rabbit in plum sauce, thick beef stews smelling of rich saffron, roasted vegetables (no potatoes here, no sir!) and cream-stewed cabbage for the vegetarians among us. If you're still hungry there's saffron pancake, ginger and clove cookies or bread pudding with raisins for dessert. There's plenty of mulled wine, honey mead, foaming beer, honeyd applewater and lingonberry juice to wash it down with. Enjoy!

Dance: As is custom, there will be a dance at the beach at the end of the day. Great fires will roar and a band of robots will strike up music suitable for dancing! Dress up in your finest satin and velvet, brush the extrement off your shoes and grab a partner!

Enjoy!

[ Kanji you're goddamn fantastic. Aidan just slipped into something comfortable and very much lacking the silk and velvet that seems to be the theme of today. ]

Whoa, Kanji! You look really cool!

Uh, thanks. [Looking a little bashful. He's still adjusting to not getting shit from people over his girly hobbies here.] Yours looks cool, too.

I dunno about cool, but 's kinda comfortable. [ And considering their last conversation he's just gonna try and be chill and friendly here. ]

[One good thing about Kanji's mental capacity is that he gets over stuff pretty quickly. He hasn't forgotten their awkward encounter last time per say, but it's not really on his mind, especially in the face of all the excitement to be had today.]

Yeah, totally! Everything here looks pretty awesome. Totally different from festivals at home.

Yeah? What're those like?

[That's so much nicer than saying dumb. Thank you, Aidan. He appreciates it.]

You know, just like fireworks and food stalls and stuff. We've really just got the one in the summer in Inaba. It's kinda a small town so we don't do a lot else.

[ Hey, he's plenty dumb. He can't judge other people by higher standards. ]

Man, that sounds real nice... we only did stuff in winter, really. Kinda like this I guess, but more snow an' blood.
