DAY 365 — Anniversary Festival Mingle

Happy Day 365, Marina Nova!


Hear ye, hear ye! Inmates, prisoners, fellow underwater dwellers! Lend me your ears and hands and actually just bring all of you because we're having a ye olde Renaissance Faire to celebrate a full year in this bubble under the sea!

The dome has of course been decked out appropriately. Flickering torches light the pathways, interspersed with larger bonfires that you can cosy up to with that special someone - or perhaps just a glass of honey mead. Pennant banners hang across the gates and along the buildings, sporting the proud coat of arms of the prison (a lot of purple and octopi, for some reason) and many of the clothing stores offer time-appropriate options for those of you who still knows how to have fun. The kiosk has even been re-imagined into a castle.

Many areas within the dome has activities to partake in and, if you're skilled or lucky or both, prizes to win!


Sector 5 Gamegrounds: What better way to show your bravery than by participating in a series of tests of strength and cunning? Sector 5 provides the inmates with a chance to try such varied sports as varpa, caber tossing, ring toss or the very dignified sport of rövkrok, a type of wrestling that requires skill as well as no sense of shame. Not tough enough for you? There are also friendly foam weapons and armor available for those who want to engage in a chivalrous bout of hand to hand combat, test your archery skills — or maybe convince another prisoner to give you a piggyback ride and go jousting!

Competitors that do well enough and show outstanding bravery may be rewarded with a handful of rehab points, or a personalized pennant — or maybe a kiss from the lord or lady of your choosing!

Less violent activities: Not into skewering your neighbors on spears? Maybe you'd rather relax with a game of knucklebones, pick up sticks or Nine Men's Morris. Boards and instructions are readily available in several areas. If you're more creatively inclined there's also activity tables on offer where you can create your own coat of arms, bind yourself a flower crown or learn the art of illumination.

Food: The food carts in sector 0 are now carrying food fit for the occasion. Whole roasted pigs and poultry, wild rabbit in plum sauce, thick beef stews smelling of rich saffron, roasted vegetables (no potatoes here, no sir!) and cream-stewed cabbage for the vegetarians among us. If you're still hungry there's saffron pancake, ginger and clove cookies or bread pudding with raisins for dessert. There's plenty of mulled wine, honey mead, foaming beer, honeyd applewater and lingonberry juice to wash it down with. Enjoy!

Dance: As is custom, there will be a dance at the beach at the end of the day. Great fires will roar and a band of robots will strike up music suitable for dancing! Dress up in your finest satin and velvet, brush the extrement off your shoes and grab a partner!

My weapons system is based more on firearms. [Literally. She has gun arms.] However I have watched my friend use a bow and arrow many times. Would you like to try it, Trowa-san?

I can try. Like you the weapons I know are mainly firearms.

[His arms weren't guns, but his Gundam had a giant gun it carried on its arm]

I haven't seen many people do this though so I may need some pointers to get started.

[Once he got it properly he tended to excel at things, but everyone has to start somewhere]

I believe you simply aim the arrow and release it. [Unfortunately Aigis is not likely to be a good teacher. She doesn't have a perfect grasp of human strength or abilities and things like this tend to be pretty intuitive for her. Add those two factors together and she does not make for a good instructor.]

[Well... not quite what he was expecting, but it something he would have done if she had asked the same thing in a similar situation. But he had watched her form as she did it. He was very observant]

[Trowa takes the weapon from her, stepping up to the line. He tries to copy the posture that she had been in when shooting the bow the first time. He didn't have it completely correct, but he was close. He did load the bow correctly though. Despite not having the correct posture, his aim wasn't too bad. Not bulls eye, but close]

Yes, I do not enjoy it as much as my normal mode of shooting. But it is enjoyable. There seem to be so many activities to participate in today.

Yes, it is enjoyable, but I would prefer my guns as well. But if I can aim accurately with my Gundam, shooting with an arrow isn't too hard.
