DAY 365 — Anniversary Festival Mingle

Happy Day 365, Marina Nova!

Hear ye, hear ye! Inmates, prisoners, fellow underwater dwellers! Lend me your ears and hands and actually just bring all of you because we're having a ye olde Renaissance Faire to celebrate a full year in this bubble under the sea!

The dome has of course been decked out appropriately. Flickering torches light the pathways, interspersed with larger bonfires that you can cosy up to with that special someone - or perhaps just a glass of honey mead. Pennant banners hang across the gates and along the buildings, sporting the proud coat of arms of the prison (a lot of purple and octopi, for some reason) and many of the clothing stores offer time-appropriate options for those of you who still knows how to have fun. The kiosk has even been re-imagined into a castle.

Many areas within the dome has activities to partake in and, if you're skilled or lucky or both, prizes to win!

Sector 5 Gamegrounds: What better way to show your bravery than by participating in a series of tests of strength and cunning? Sector 5 provides the inmates with a chance to try such varied sports as varpa, caber tossing, ring toss or the very dignified sport of rövkrok, a type of wrestling that requires skill as well as no sense of shame. Not tough enough for you? There are also friendly foam weapons and armor available for those who want to engage in a chivalrous bout of hand to hand combat, test your archery skills — or maybe convince another prisoner to give you a piggyback ride and go jousting!

Competitors that do well enough and show outstanding bravery may be rewarded with a handful of rehab points, or a personalized pennant — or maybe a kiss from the lord or lady of your choosing!

Less violent activities: Not into skewering your neighbors on spears? Maybe you'd rather relax with a game of knucklebones, pick up sticks or Nine Men's Morris. Boards and instructions are readily available in several areas. If you're more creatively inclined there's also activity tables on offer where you can create your own coat of arms, bind yourself a flower crown or learn the art of illumination.

Food: The food carts in sector 0 are now carrying food fit for the occasion. Whole roasted pigs and poultry, wild rabbit in plum sauce, thick beef stews smelling of rich saffron, roasted vegetables (no potatoes here, no sir!) and cream-stewed cabbage for the vegetarians among us. If you're still hungry there's saffron pancake, ginger and clove cookies or bread pudding with raisins for dessert. There's plenty of mulled wine, honey mead, foaming beer, honeyd applewater and lingonberry juice to wash it down with. Enjoy!

Dance: As is custom, there will be a dance at the beach at the end of the day. Great fires will roar and a band of robots will strike up music suitable for dancing! Dress up in your finest satin and velvet, brush the extrement off your shoes and grab a partner!

Like a what...? [She really doesn't understand what Yuuki just said.] I don't mind being here. It just gave me some extra time, and the food is really good, and I actually got to see the sea. This festival is amazing, too. I'm having fun!

[Really, the only problem she has is the mess that's Zeno's timeline and the total lack of explanation they've all received by him, but that's not the place's fault.]

It isn't as nice as it looks. [For all the innocence right now, that rarely lasts. And it's important that people know that.]

The people who are behind the wardens... the engineers, this is all just one fun experiment to them. No one who has been kidnapped into this place deserves to be locked up and experimented on. They like testing us... playing games with our hearts and minds. Don't let them fool you for a second, Kaya. No one was brought here with good intentions. It's all just game to them, and we're the pawns they're playing with.

It's nothing you did or didn't do. They don't care about that. [It's just their own selfish reasons.] Your actions aren't to blame for anything. I just think it's important that you know. The ones responsible for dragging everyone here don't intend any of us well.

We're the third generation of inmates. The other two generations before us were all killed.

[The moment her face begins to crinkle and emotions dissolve, Yuuki immediately begins to feel herself panic. Too much!? Was it too much!? But it's important to know, too, right!? They shouldn't let their guards down when it's more than likely that something bad will happen again, too.]

H-Hey, hey it's okay--! [Shhh--!!! Unsure what to do for a moment she lifts her hands up, horrified.] Look-! The others never had a defense force. We've survived all this time, and I promise nothing bad is going to happen as long as everyone works together! It's okay, hey--

[She grasps hold of a hand again and gently squeezes.]

Nothing that we can't pull out from is going to happen, okay? We're going to make it.

[She gives a small shake of her head, reassuring. Or at least she hopes it is.]

It's a group of people here... some with supernatural abilities and others simply with a high level of skill. They're working to keep people safe here as well as find a way home.

[So people aren't as likely to be hurt.]

I promise, we're all doing our best and we'll keep you friends safe, okay?

[She gives a short nod, but continues on, hoping that it will help.] We're just a small group of people who have decided to give it our all protecting everyone here, and searching for a way out in the process. It's our job to make sure that no one gets hurt.

[She tries a small smile after that.]

If you get scared, or need help or anything at all, don't be afraid to call someone who is on the Defense Force, okay?
