DAY 365 — Anniversary Festival Mingle

Happy Day 365, Marina Nova!

Hear ye, hear ye! Inmates, prisoners, fellow underwater dwellers! Lend me your ears and hands and actually just bring all of you because we're having a ye olde Renaissance Faire to celebrate a full year in this bubble under the sea!

The dome has of course been decked out appropriately. Flickering torches light the pathways, interspersed with larger bonfires that you can cosy up to with that special someone - or perhaps just a glass of honey mead. Pennant banners hang across the gates and along the buildings, sporting the proud coat of arms of the prison (a lot of purple and octopi, for some reason) and many of the clothing stores offer time-appropriate options for those of you who still knows how to have fun. The kiosk has even been re-imagined into a castle.

Many areas within the dome has activities to partake in and, if you're skilled or lucky or both, prizes to win!

Sector 5 Gamegrounds: What better way to show your bravery than by participating in a series of tests of strength and cunning? Sector 5 provides the inmates with a chance to try such varied sports as varpa, caber tossing, ring toss or the very dignified sport of rövkrok, a type of wrestling that requires skill as well as no sense of shame. Not tough enough for you? There are also friendly foam weapons and armor available for those who want to engage in a chivalrous bout of hand to hand combat, test your archery skills — or maybe convince another prisoner to give you a piggyback ride and go jousting!

Competitors that do well enough and show outstanding bravery may be rewarded with a handful of rehab points, or a personalized pennant — or maybe a kiss from the lord or lady of your choosing!

Less violent activities: Not into skewering your neighbors on spears? Maybe you'd rather relax with a game of knucklebones, pick up sticks or Nine Men's Morris. Boards and instructions are readily available in several areas. If you're more creatively inclined there's also activity tables on offer where you can create your own coat of arms, bind yourself a flower crown or learn the art of illumination.

Food: The food carts in sector 0 are now carrying food fit for the occasion. Whole roasted pigs and poultry, wild rabbit in plum sauce, thick beef stews smelling of rich saffron, roasted vegetables (no potatoes here, no sir!) and cream-stewed cabbage for the vegetarians among us. If you're still hungry there's saffron pancake, ginger and clove cookies or bread pudding with raisins for dessert. There's plenty of mulled wine, honey mead, foaming beer, honeyd applewater and lingonberry juice to wash it down with. Enjoy!

Dance: As is custom, there will be a dance at the beach at the end of the day. Great fires will roar and a band of robots will strike up music suitable for dancing! Dress up in your finest satin and velvet, brush the extrement off your shoes and grab a partner!

Enjoy!

Do you need help, Kija?

[She leans at him and looks at his work. She already has a crown almost done on her hands. It's quite well done.]

Miss Kaya. [Finding a spot to pause at he shakes his head.] It is all right. I think it is coming along. [IT'S A MESS. With a glance up however he blinks, impressed with her own.]

You are almost done, though. [So quick. He smiles up at her.] This seems like the kind of activity that a young woman might enjoy. This must not be your first.

[Eh, it's fine. The important part is having fun, not making it perfect. Just like chopping vegetables when you cook, no matter what the silly husband says.] Maybe it'll be easier if you take off your glove? [She points at his dragon claw. She had seen him with that armor piece on even when he's eating. It didn't look comfortable for delicate tasks, with those nails on.]

Ah, I used to make them when I was little all the time! Sometimes even now when I've been bored. But there's plenty of guys making crowns today, so it can't be just for girls.

Y-You needn't explain...! [Husband/Wife things are fine in private but he can't even picture it and he doesn't want to think about it!!]

[She's going to still be really red for a while. She's also not thinking still about Zeno's torso.] I-It's a cute story, but... alright.

So those four dragons? Did you guys know King Hiryuu back then?

[...

She offers a smile.]

You guys look so well preserved for your age. [She suspected she had married someone older than her, but not an old guy probably in his 40-50's.] But your white hair looks good anyway so don't worry, Kija!

[ Although for a dragon, he supposes that the rest of his years are numbered.]

My master is the princess. [The original Hiryuu died a very long time ago.]

[Zeno he needs some words with you.]

I would suggest that you speak with Zeno. I cannot speak for him... [He's clearly kept things a secret, but why...? It isn't really his place to explain things to her any more than he has, but it's quite the shock.]

But I believe that the two of you should properly go over the original legend and the story of King Hiryuu. [Clearly she's...confused. On a number of things.]

So you're not Hiryuu's dragons? You don't have to tell me the story if you don't want.

[She grabs a new flower to weave.] I don't want to make him sad, so I never ask him about his past. I don't... [She inhales.] I don't even know if you became Zeno's friends and traveled with him before he met Kaya or after. [This has bothered her for two days now.] Someone in the clinic told Kaya that sometimes people are from different times. ["I hope you're from after Kaya," she wants to say, but it's a painful thing to explain if asked.]

[ANYWAY. She smiles back and tries to handwave the mess that is Zeno.]

Are Seiryuu and Ryokuryuu also real? My little brother wanted to have Ryokuryuu's powers.

I would be happy to explain. But I think it would make more sense for you to hear the story from Zeno himself. [Again he doesn't want to complicate things.]

The original dragons served King Hiryuu. [They hardly live long enough to have lived for around 2000 years.] Our master is the reincarnation of Hiryuu.

[Although... the princess has stated that she's not him. Even still his blood calls out to her. Even if a difference in time is possible, which doesn't make much sense, even Kaya should know that King Hiryuu died so very long ago.

At the least he doesn't have a problem explaining about the others.]

Seiryuu and Ryokuryuu are indeed also real. [He recalls her comment on his hair.] Their hair matches the color of the dragon they exemplify. [See, he doesn't have aged hair...] Seiryuu is pure and determined with beautiful eyes. [Which he doesn't really...show off.] He has a pet squirrel named Ao, and she follows him everywhere.

[His little brother is enduring, no?]

As for Ryokuryuu he is independent, strong, and a little bit flashy. Also rebellious and difficult to understand at times. [And a scoundrel who visits questionable establishments, and is also saying weird things and flashing his skin...]

If he was here, however, I am sure that he would be happy to show you his skills. He rarely keeps his feet upon the ground.

[She listens carefully. Oh, it's a different set of dragons for a different Hiryuu. Then Yona is a god? She seems pretty normal to her, but then again so does Zeno. Kija also would be normal if it wasn't for the arm.

Of course Hiryuu is dead. The current king is his son, right? Everybody knows that, even in the countryside. There are also stories about four men who served him who had powers bestowed from dragons. The kids in her village used to play pretend the Four Dragons Warriors all the time.

It's a bit shocking getting to know people like those warriors. Even more that she fell in love with one! But it's pretty cool and not really scary. Her deceased brother in Heaven is probably a bit jealous, even if she didn't meet Ryokuryuu. She smiles excitedly as she hears about Kija's friends.]

They sound like lovely people. I mean dragons. Whatever you are, it's fine.

We are still human. [Even if they possess the power of the four dragons.]

Ah- yes. It would feel strange to change now. The four of us are all brothers. Not to use his name would feel somehow strange by this point.

[Even though Zeno actually calls him by his title. Not that Kija minds, either.]

Okay. It would've been funny to see people's faces if I told them I married a dragon, though. [She giggles.] They'd imagine him all weird.

Brothers... [She hadn't heard Zeno had brothers just like Kija and Yona hadn't heard he had a wife. Sometimes Kaya felt left out when he saw him smiling at them, as if she didn't belong with them. And maybe she didn't. But they both had been kind to her, and they were amazing and made Zeno happy, and she had no doubt the other two dragons were just as great. She really hoped they were from after her time, so he wasn't alone anymore.] If that's the case, does that make me your sister-in-law?
