DAY 365 — Anniversary Festival Mingle

Happy Day 365, Marina Nova!

Hear ye, hear ye! Inmates, prisoners, fellow underwater dwellers! Lend me your ears and hands and actually just bring all of you because we're having a ye olde Renaissance Faire to celebrate a full year in this bubble under the sea!

The dome has of course been decked out appropriately. Flickering torches light the pathways, interspersed with larger bonfires that you can cosy up to with that special someone - or perhaps just a glass of honey mead. Pennant banners hang across the gates and along the buildings, sporting the proud coat of arms of the prison (a lot of purple and octopi, for some reason) and many of the clothing stores offer time-appropriate options for those of you who still knows how to have fun. The kiosk has even been re-imagined into a castle.

Many areas within the dome has activities to partake in and, if you're skilled or lucky or both, prizes to win!

Sector 5 Gamegrounds: What better way to show your bravery than by participating in a series of tests of strength and cunning? Sector 5 provides the inmates with a chance to try such varied sports as varpa, caber tossing, ring toss or the very dignified sport of rövkrok, a type of wrestling that requires skill as well as no sense of shame. Not tough enough for you? There are also friendly foam weapons and armor available for those who want to engage in a chivalrous bout of hand to hand combat, test your archery skills — or maybe convince another prisoner to give you a piggyback ride and go jousting!

Competitors that do well enough and show outstanding bravery may be rewarded with a handful of rehab points, or a personalized pennant — or maybe a kiss from the lord or lady of your choosing!

Less violent activities: Not into skewering your neighbors on spears? Maybe you'd rather relax with a game of knucklebones, pick up sticks or Nine Men's Morris. Boards and instructions are readily available in several areas. If you're more creatively inclined there's also activity tables on offer where you can create your own coat of arms, bind yourself a flower crown or learn the art of illumination.

Food: The food carts in sector 0 are now carrying food fit for the occasion. Whole roasted pigs and poultry, wild rabbit in plum sauce, thick beef stews smelling of rich saffron, roasted vegetables (no potatoes here, no sir!) and cream-stewed cabbage for the vegetarians among us. If you're still hungry there's saffron pancake, ginger and clove cookies or bread pudding with raisins for dessert. There's plenty of mulled wine, honey mead, foaming beer, honeyd applewater and lingonberry juice to wash it down with. Enjoy!

Dance: As is custom, there will be a dance at the beach at the end of the day. Great fires will roar and a band of robots will strike up music suitable for dancing! Dress up in your finest satin and velvet, brush the extrement off your shoes and grab a partner!

Enjoy!

[ Suzaku's hand stops on its way to his mouth, then he carefully sets the bite back down on his plate. His mind races through the possibilities. ]

Hi. I... if you have met me here, before, I should let you know that I have no memories of when I was here before. I'm sorry? I'm glad to meet you for the first time again, though!

Ah.... [She stops a little short, her smile flickering a moment.] Sorry, then... [It's the same.] . . . Just like Zero, I guess.

[His memories have faded, too.]

I'm sorry for the surprise, then. I should have been introducing myself instead.

[Bending forward she bows politely.]

My name is Yuuki Kuran. I'm sorry for the confusion, Suzaku-san.

You don't have to apologize - when I came here, it seemed like almost everyone knew me, so I got used to it.

[ And he doesn't twitch at the mention of Zero only because he and Yuuri already talked about him. Or rather, it probably not being him.

Suzaku tilts his head to one side at her name, but, first things first.
]

Yuuki-san. [ He bows, and then smiles, both brightly and a little sheepishly. ] I was very young when Japan was no longer, in our world, it has been a long time since I have heard myself so addressed. Most people do just say Suzaku - and you can, as well, if it will be all right.

[ But a part of him that he had to stomp on when he was ten years old is just happy to see people who are Japanese and proud with it. ]

I am sorry if that is unpleasant to talk about, but - Yuuri said that Zero is from the same world as you. But he does not remember you still?

[ . . . He's from the same world as Euphie, right? Still to hear that Japan no longer exists in a place... it's sad. ]

If you're sure... [Does he not want any reminders of the past, then?] If just Yuuki is easier for you, then you can say that too. [She smiles a touch.] There are so many foreigners in Marina that it's not so strange any more.

[That said, she'll probably slip more than once. She blinks after a moment, though. Ah-]

Oh. Yuuri-kun said something, then? I guess it should't be surprising... [This is the point where she looks... a little sheepish and a little sad.] Well- he doesn't remember our time spent together here. I mean... there was the time he lost all his memories. [Due to her. . . ]. . . But he was kind of forceful in regaining those. [Really forceful.]

He recognizes me now, though. Just not anything about this place.

[ . . . Which also makes her feel a touch more guilty for having run away just minutes after meeting again just a few days ago.]
