DAY 365 — Anniversary Festival Mingle

Happy Day 365, Marina Nova!

Hear ye, hear ye! Inmates, prisoners, fellow underwater dwellers! Lend me your ears and hands and actually just bring all of you because we're having a ye olde Renaissance Faire to celebrate a full year in this bubble under the sea!

The dome has of course been decked out appropriately. Flickering torches light the pathways, interspersed with larger bonfires that you can cosy up to with that special someone - or perhaps just a glass of honey mead. Pennant banners hang across the gates and along the buildings, sporting the proud coat of arms of the prison (a lot of purple and octopi, for some reason) and many of the clothing stores offer time-appropriate options for those of you who still knows how to have fun. The kiosk has even been re-imagined into a castle.

Many areas within the dome has activities to partake in and, if you're skilled or lucky or both, prizes to win!

Sector 5 Gamegrounds: What better way to show your bravery than by participating in a series of tests of strength and cunning? Sector 5 provides the inmates with a chance to try such varied sports as varpa, caber tossing, ring toss or the very dignified sport of rövkrok, a type of wrestling that requires skill as well as no sense of shame. Not tough enough for you? There are also friendly foam weapons and armor available for those who want to engage in a chivalrous bout of hand to hand combat, test your archery skills — or maybe convince another prisoner to give you a piggyback ride and go jousting!

Competitors that do well enough and show outstanding bravery may be rewarded with a handful of rehab points, or a personalized pennant — or maybe a kiss from the lord or lady of your choosing!

Less violent activities: Not into skewering your neighbors on spears? Maybe you'd rather relax with a game of knucklebones, pick up sticks or Nine Men's Morris. Boards and instructions are readily available in several areas. If you're more creatively inclined there's also activity tables on offer where you can create your own coat of arms, bind yourself a flower crown or learn the art of illumination.

Food: The food carts in sector 0 are now carrying food fit for the occasion. Whole roasted pigs and poultry, wild rabbit in plum sauce, thick beef stews smelling of rich saffron, roasted vegetables (no potatoes here, no sir!) and cream-stewed cabbage for the vegetarians among us. If you're still hungry there's saffron pancake, ginger and clove cookies or bread pudding with raisins for dessert. There's plenty of mulled wine, honey mead, foaming beer, honeyd applewater and lingonberry juice to wash it down with. Enjoy!

Dance: As is custom, there will be a dance at the beach at the end of the day. Great fires will roar and a band of robots will strike up music suitable for dancing! Dress up in your finest satin and velvet, brush the extrement off your shoes and grab a partner!

Enjoy!

[Yuuri was dressed by his new/returned roommate. Not physically dressed. That would be weird. (No mustache either.) He was just coaxed into joining in the spirit of things. Right now he's thinking about joining in the spirit of some food!]

Suzaku! [Excited Yuuri is excited.] I was getting worried you weren't here again.

[ Suzaku is actually feeling a little less crappy than usual, after all the competitions, and the smile for Yuuri is fairly real. He ducks his head a little, the surprise just a tad too real.

He's not used to anyone letting him know that Suzaku's been missed.
]

I'm still here, Yuuri. And it's good to see you so happy - has anything nice happened?

Yuuki and Zero are back! [There's such a bright smile you might think this was something you were supposed to understand.] Zero doesn't remember me, but Yuuki does.

[ Suzaku's smile freezes even as his heartbeat races, hard, though he tries to not let any of the very, very conflicting emotions show on his face, or in his voice. ]

Zero?

[Suzaku is doing a good job of it! Yuuri is none the wiser.]

Yeah, he's my friend. He used to be one of my roommates. I guess it's kind of strange name. [If that's what you're pointing out.]

I...

[ I know somebody with that name at home. But that's far, far too complicated to explain.

Instead,

Do you know if he comes from the same place as anyone else?

Sure. Yuuki. And a lot of other people, but they aren't here anymore.

[Yuuri does look just a bit curious though.] Why?

But not the same as me and Euphie? As Gino?

[ He doesn't know Yuuki.

That's not quite the same as her not coming from their world. There are a lot of people in the world that he doesn't know, after all. So he has to ask.

You guys know a Zero? Unless he's a vampire I don't think it's the same person. [Yuuri, don't be so careless with other people's identities.]
