[Maybe you're at the media store or educational center to play your disc. Maybe you're just out and about somewhere contemplating what you saw or whether to see it. Either way, you're bound to run into someone!]

Well, from what people saw when they found us all in those pods, it sounded like they were looking after us. Were you one of those who went through? I'm still kinda miffed that I missed that one!

No, the doors were all shut again before I could find my way to one. I wasn't part of the coup in the last prison either. So, I'm pretty much going on other people's descriptions for everything when it comes to real versions of the prison.

It's a bit frustrating not having seen it, isn't it? Not that I disbelieve anyone who says they saw it, but... It's not the same as getting it first-hand, is it?

I'm with you there. [He's taken every note he can, but it's not the same. People don't always look for or notice the things he wants them to and even if they did getting them to remember it is another thing.] So, how was your disc? [Seems only fair since Jack could see his, not that he asked to.]

[He nods, and then takes a breath at the change in subject, realigning his thoughts.]

Kind of nostaligic. It was a montage of my time travelling with the Doctor and Rose - how we met, right up to how we parted.

Better than yours, I guess, though it ended with my first death so we've got that in common!

I guess we do. Maybe the wardens were feeling morbid. Or just wanted us to. They aren't the best hosts.

[His lips twitch.] Yeah, for all their talk of rehabilitation and mental wellbeing, they're supremely fond of mucking that up for us, aren't they?

Still, however nostaligic it's made me, I'm oddly okay with this one. It's nice to have a memento of that time.

Mine might have some valuable clues at least. I guess it'll work out for both of us. Maybe they're making us look on the bright side.

There are a surprising number of bright sides to being here, actually.

In some ways, I can't help feeling like they've done us a favour.

A favor? I mean, I can understand that for some people, but you think all of us?

Uh, well, perhaps not all of us. [Perhaps he was projecting a little, there.] I was mostly thinking of myself and Ianto.

...You got good things to try and get back home for?

[That question stops him short for a moment.] Good might be a stretch. I have important things I thought needed to be done.

...I guess I'm less sure about that now.

How come? [He gestures towards the screen.] Has this changed what you expect to happen if you get home again?

When I got here I expected I would get back and stop the apocalypse and die trying. Since then I've found out I did.

I just didn't stay dead. I was just a monster for awhile and then I guess that got better too. And now I don't know. I guess it just feels like my life is going on whether I'm there or not so maybe it doesn't matter.

[This disc was more a reminder of all that than the first catalyst for the thoughts.]

[He nods slowly, absorbing this.] I have a theory that possibly we're all actually taken from a lot further along our timelines than we think, and when we appear to 'go home' we're actually just uploaded with another batch of the memories they've got in storage for us.

Could be. But then they're reverse-aging our bodies. Maybe they just take us from when we think but they have a complete timeline of our memories to upload in storage.

Well, they could take the appearance of our bodies from our memories too...

[He shakes his head, laughing wryly.] I guess we're never really going to know anyway - not if we can't figure out any way of getting out into the real world!

I guess not. There's almost too many options to explore. [Probably part of their plan.]

Far too many. It's very frustrating!

[He glances once more at the screen, and shrugs.] Well, I guess I'll leave you to it. I hope you get something useful out of your gift!
