Leia's hasn't been this furious in a long time. Gossip, slander, rumor, and speculation — that was one thing. At most, seeing the parts of those holodramas that she managed to catch glimpses of that put a dramatic spin on actual events made her roll her eyes. Knowing that these films not only showcased her chained to Jabba, but also what she did to get under Han's skin is positively infuriating. Especially with the way people seem to talk about those events like they're addressing the weather, like they weren't real things that happened to her.

Or like her feelings don't matter. (Like she's not allowed to feel, because she's Leia Organa and she's better than that.)

The media store had been her initial destination before bumping into Sam, but now she's too angry to go inside, no longer interested in making her intended purchase. That can wait until she's in a better mood and will actually enjoy shopping, so she heads to Två Park instead.

Maybe a walk will help her calm down and clear her mind some.

Apparently, the prison has decided it will be giving Elena a break, despite being relatively new to its clutches.

She received a disc like everyone else, and it was surprisingly upbeat, considering her life as of late. People from both Chicago and Mystic Falls feature heavily in it, the ten minutes of the disc itself consisting of happier times. Elena is in all of the memories, and while the reminder is bittersweet and not without the heavy imprint of loss, she's grateful she has something to hold on to. She is grateful she can see the faces of those she loves, whenever she chooses.

Her current predicament, however, has nothing to do with the disc.

She's a shapeshifter, Elena. It's not something she advertises freely, and it's almost something she's been studiously keeping under control since she arrived. But she has to wonder if the animals in the pet store can sense that about her. One tiny rascal in particular won't leave her alone, going so far as to follow her around. And she isn't made of stone! There's only so much ignoring she can do before she picks the bundle up into her arms. "You need a name," she decides firmly.

The kitten merely purrs. This is the sight Leia will stumble on during her walk.

Her own disc contains positive memories, but they're ones Leia's not yet ready to see. Whether it's simple intuition or the will of the Force warning her against overwhelming herself, she placed the disc in a drawer to be viewed another day. A day when she's ready to hear her mother's dying insistence that there was still good in her father, when she's ready to see herself taking part in the legacy he left her.

Stumble she does, very nearly bumping into Elena as she rounds a sharp corner a little too quickly. Jedi grace and reflexes save her from crashing into Elena and the wayward kitten, though she was apparently too distracted by her fury to notice the other girl's familiar presence drifting towards her.

"Oh," she breathes. "I'm sorry, I didn't— What is that?"

Elena, she's never seen a kitten before. It was like a pittin, yet somehow far more adorable.

(Don't let Leia name it. She named her childhood pink pittin AT-AV: All-Terrain Attack Vehicle.)

Don't think that Elena's failed to notice how distraught you seem, Leia.

She's been worried about her friend ever since they had that conversation about the Star Wars movies, and everything that comes with it. At the same time, her reaction to the kitten lets her know that it might be just what the princess needs in terms of distraction.

Smiling, Elena lifts the kitten so that it is more at eye level with Leia.

"It's a cat. Only it's a baby, and they tend to be called kittens. People back in my world would keep them as pets." Elena scritches its tummy with her index finger, before glancing over at Leia in encouragement. "You want to try holding it...?"

She's distraught, but she appreciates that Elena isn't asking. Sometimes concern is appreciated, but now isn't one of those times. Concern would only aggravate her further, and she's grateful for the distraction that comes in the form of this tiny, furry mammal.

"Will it let me?" And yet her hands are already reaching out towards it.

The kitten mewls and some of the ice around her heart melts.

Elena's smile widens into a grin, watching the kitten find a new home in Leia's bosom.

There's your answer.

She continues to scritch the top of its head, the kitten burrowing into Leia now that it's secure in her arms. It is clearly seeking warmth wherever it can, and much prefers the company of two lovely young ladies instead of the older, cantankerous cat it has to share a crate with. "I don't think I have the heart to take it back to the pet store."

Even if she's never had a pet before. Jeremy's gargantuan Saint Bernard who never listened to her doesn't count. :|

It's difficult to stay angry when there's an adorable baby animal in her arms, nuzzling her collarbone and purring soothingly. Almost as if the little thing knows that she's in a tizzy and could do with some calming. Unintentional or not, this tactic of Elena's is working remarkably well.

"Pretty sure that means you're going to have to name it."

Cats are wonderful that way, and Elena is quickly discovering this fact.

"That's what I was telling him before you joined us." It's going to need a name, and it's going to need a really good one. She'll also have to make sure Damon isn't a buttface in its general direction, if the kitty is going to stick around. "I've never had a pet before, so I'm not really sure where to start. Any suggestions?"

Leia's quickly discovering this for herself, and finds herself missing AT-AV. The bright pink pittin wasn't the friendliest thing around, but it was a suitable companion for a little girl who looked as pleasant as can be, but could be quite the opposite when given the chance.

"I don't know." She holds the kitten up. It meows at her, still purring, and flexes its little paws, kneading the air. "Gold Three?"

Codenames for squadrons of pilots probably isn't the best place to draw kitten names from, but there you go. They could call it 'Goldie' or 'GT' for short.

It would seem that great minds think alike.

Elena doesn't comment on how strange Gold Three sounds to her as a pet name; they come from different worlds, and she isn't one to be intolerant of differences. "We could call him Goldie," Elena says with a tiny smile, peeking over Leia's shoulder as the kitten evidently melts in Leia's presence, too.

"He looks like a Goldie," she adds after a moment of deliberation, accompanied by a decisive nod.

"He does, doesn't he?"

The kitten seems to agree, reaching out to boop Leia's nose with one of his tiny paws. She laughs, unable to hold on to her anger.

"Where'd you find him?"

"At the pet shop. I was surprised to find one here, though I probably shouldn't be."

She's learned by now that this isn't like any other prison she's ever heard about. The whole point, it seems, is to look as harmless and unprison-like as possible. Leia's laughter makes her smile, if only because it seems like Leia hasn't had a chance to do that often. "You want me to take you there? We could see some of the other ones."

"There's a pet shop?"

Leia doesn't know why she's surprised by this. The dome has everything else. Virtual reality or not (and she's still not sure if she fully believes that explanation), there were far too many amenities here to make this place truly prison-like. She felt more like she was in some sort of experimental facility or being put on display like a creature in a zoo.

"Sure," she readily agrees to the offer, needing further distraction from her ire as of late. "Lead the way."

John is in the park already, avoiding watching whatever might be on his disc. He has it on him, but he doesn't know when or if he'll watch it. He sits on one of the benches near the butterfly pavilion when he hears Leia walking this way... in more than one ways. He's not trying to pick up thoughts, but it happens whether he tries to or not.

But he wouldn't need to read her mind to see, she looks upset.

"Hey, Leia. Are you okay? Sorry I heard you coming before you showed up. I didn't... hear anything specific. My telepathy just doesn't shut off unless I make it."

Unless he actively focuses on closing his mind.

Leia can close herself of, shut down her mind and appear to be the least Force-sensitive thing in existence, but it's not something she's ever consciously done. It's always been instinct, a defense mechanism she was unaware of until she looked back and realized, in hindsight, that she must've done so to protect herself. Otherwise, Vader would have had more of a reason to keep her alive — or more of a reason to kill her.

Somehow, him figuring out that she was his daughter doesn't factor in. Like she's deliberately insulting his intelligence by assuming that he wouldn't stop ignoring how much she resembles a fallen senator, or the distinctive way family feels in the Force. So fundamentally different from everyone else.

"Don't apologize." It's a little too clipped, but also tired sounding. She's mad, but not enough to snap at someone undeserving. "I get it. I have the same kriffing problem."

Mad enough to swear in front of people she doesn't really know all that well, though, apparently.

"I'm fine." Lies. What a blatant lie, and one she knows is foolish to make in front of someone else who, like her, can probable sense emotions and feel the weight of truth in words. "I'll be fine," she corrects.

John hears how tired her voice sounds, and there's some measure of concern in his gaze as he looks at her. He's grateful she gets it. The swearing goes over his head completely so he doesn't look at all put off by that.

"It's... a big part of being telepathic. Hard to find anyone else that gets it here at least," he says quietly in agreement. He was surrounded by other people like him where he came from though there are so many problems there and so many problems he caused that he's not... he's not looking to go back even if he should.

Responsibility is a heavy weight especially when so many other lives are on the line.

He wasn't going to call her on the lie though he can feel all of the emotions swirling inside of her, can feel that she is saying so because she needs to. John has lied so much in his life, and he's shut down his own mind so deeply that even Cara couldn't read the darkest parts of it. Sometimes they deserve to get to keep some things to themselves. He understands that intensely well.

"Do... you want to talk about it?"

There's the warm, quiet tone in his voice which implies she doesn't have to.

There's no requirement. There's no expectation either.

Colorful word choices tend to lose their intended effect when the jargon is alien or spoken in another tongue entirely. Some of the words she's heard pop out of the other inmates' mouths don't sound nearly as vulgar to her ears as they do others, and she imagines her own sharp tongue sounds like utter gibberish to most. Like she's babbling in some sort of tangled, trader's argot instead of actual fragments of basic.

Similarly, the more she begins to embrace the Force-sensitive parts of herself, the more she's seeing that people just don't get it. Reid may understand it to a degree, but it was like he said: a lot of what he 'knew' was based purely on conjecture. John, on the other hand, has actual experience. Maybe the way his abilities manifest is different from someone who utilizes the Force, but he's still able to understand he power in ways others simply cannot.

"Not really," she says. "But I appreciate the offer."

It's comforting to know that if she does decide she wants to talk, she doesn't have to do so verbally. Like how she and Luke could reach out and summon one another without so much as picking up a comm. They just could, knew exactly where to find one another. Distance didn't matter; they could do it effortlessly. (She can't say whether that's a Jedi thing or a Twin thing.)

"Did you get a disc this morning?"

John hears the edge to those colorful word choices so he can only guess they are curse words of some kind even if he has never heard of them before. It's the emotion which carries through those curse words more than anything, and he nods at her answer accepting it very easily though the concern is still clearly in his gaze.

They wouldn't need to talk about it in words if she did want to share. They could share thoughts. They could share whole memories without needing to speak, and there has always been a comfort in that for John too despite how he shuts down his head at times with the darkest of things in his life.

"The offer is always open," he says after a moment, folding his hands loosely together before he glances down at the question but nods. "I did. I haven't... looked at mine yet. I don't know if I will."

He can't imagine it will show him anything good. "You?"

"Didn't look, either."

It's a shy admission, one that someone like John will find is laced with apprehension — anxiety, fear, and a sinking dread that she'll find the sort of dark twist she's almost expecting pollute her life. Like having Anakin Skywalker's blood flowing through her veins is some automatic sign of damnation.

"Some people may have received good memories, but somehow I doubt that I will."

John sends her a quiet but warm look at the shy admission. He can feel the apprehension, the anxiety, the fear, and the sinking dread too. There's a pause then as he breathes through that, and he feels some of his own anxiety at the thought of his disc which he's kept on him but he hasn't looked at yet.

"Your life must be really difficult. Painful." He breathes out then between his teeth, staring down at the floor. The tension in him rolls off of him in waves. "I doubt mine will either. Part of me wonders if I'm not... just avoiding something I just need to face."

Whatever is on that disk. If it's a memory though, he remembers it all so well. Good, bad, mistakes. Mistake after mistake.

"It has and it hasn't," she says steadily. "Rougher than it used to be."

And in the wake of learning that more people than just Elena have seen Star Wars, it's a welcomed reprieve to speak to someone who has no clue who she is. To speak vaguely and not have him know exactly what she's talking about and not admit to it. The fact that Reid had done that so much with her hurts. She trusted him. Liked him. Befriended him. Leia's been told so many lies lately, that having someone she got close to do the same is like rubbing salt in an already open wound. The fact that he did so with the best of intentions makes it worse.

Obi-Wan and Yoda had good intentions, too, however skewed.

John lifts his head to look over at her at her steady response. His expression is quiet.

"I'm sorry to hear that," he says genuinely, quietly as his hands fold together in front of him. It is also eerie to think of this prison being able to pull memories out of their head and have them watch it this way. It would make him more uncomfortable to know future events are also on those discs. He'll watch his eventually, but it won't be any time soon. "And now you're in a prison, which has a deceptive amount of freedom while taking your choice to be here or not away, while taking away control."

On several occasions beyond just the forced into prison part. Switching bodies, forcing people to kiss.

Eerie indeed. It bothers her a lot more than she lets on that this place seemingly has the power to get inside her head when not even Darth Vader and his interrogation droid were able to. It meant that whoever was really pulling the strings around here was a lot more powerful than her father — perhaps even more so than the Emperor. And that terrified her.

"I've been imprisoned before," Leia offers up with a shrug, as if being arrested and tossed into cells is no big deal. "But the accommodations here are considerably better. On most days, anyway."
