[It's different, being held by someone taller and more solid than he is. Safe. Easier for him to rest his face on her chest and act like she can't tell that he's crying. He feels smaller and more fragile than usual. It's a reminder that this body is a delicate and breakable thing.

[While this is nice, the wrongness is impairing Nathan's ability to stay anything approaching calm. He still wants to claw his way out of this skin.]

This doesn't feel right. [Any of it. His breasts are pressed between them, Euphie's stubble occasionally scratches his forehead, and no amount of wanting to latch on to Euphie so she can keep him safe is making things okay. He can't seem to convince himself to move, though.]

I think the same of you, Nathan. [She holds him a little closer. It has been lonely at times even being outgoing and staying in the company of others. She has a hard time stepping past being the princess held at a distance even while giving a friendly smile. She cares about people, but doesn't know how to let them in.] I always feel like I can be honest with you.

[Not that she feels like she has to lie with others, but she can say a little bit more with him. He's like her in some ways. In other ways she just wants to save him and maybe redeem herself a bit in the act. It's not something she's really aware of, but it's certainly at play.]
