[Where Jack may see gangly and scrawny with Reid she sees a man she loves. It paints a very different picture for her.]

You're both very pretty.

[Technically, she'd slept with Cross in a shared dream once, but she doesn't count it. She didn't make the choice to be there or do what she was doing. He'd done nothing wrong, but that was about the wardens, not them. Funny, then that she is counting Jack given their warden-manipulated circumstances.]

Nothing more intimate than being inside someone. [Her borrowed fingers trace the scar on Tyki's upper arm.] They still hurt. He told me once, but there's knowing and then there's knowing.

[He blinks a bit at that first part because, whilst he'd acknowledge that Reid could be pretty with a bit more care and attention, it's certainly not the first word he'd use to describe him. Love does funny things to perception, he supposes.

He chuckles a bit at the 'being inside someone' comment because he's Jack and he can't help see the double entendre there, but he sobers then as she starts talking about scars. He watches her fingers stroke across a scar that isn't hers.]

What caused that one? [Was it you?]

	The network hacking. It doesn't matter. I just don't know what to do with myself today. You? (OOC: She's referring to before Tyki dropped and the Defense Force hacked the network to basically remove Tyki's Noah from his profile so that he wouldn't have the evil influence or powers. Oh, right! I thought your 'we' meant you and Allen back home, that the hacking produced the scars, not that - well, what you actually meant! [He shrugs, and lets it go.]

I'm just going about my usual business, far as I can. Though it occurs to me that the body I'm in isn't actually a member of the DF any more, so my statement to you about having a lot of nerve showing up here could equally be applied to me! [Trying to raise a little humour, because this is starting to feel extremely awkward, not just because it's Tyki he's staring at rather than Kitty but because he's started to be very aware whose body he's wearing today.]

Right, I knew that. I just never met him so I tend to forget!

[He fidgets just a tiny bit when she looks him over, and it's not just because she's doing it with Tyki's eyes.] Really hard. [He takes a breath, and nods towards the DF building.] If I'm allowed in then-- [Grin, to show he's teasing] --shall we go inside? More comfortable than standing out here!

[And he'd kind of like to sit down. It feels like that's what Reid's body spends most of its time doing.]

[She notes the fidgeting. Such a normal thing from Reid. Such a strange thing from Jack. Bodies have more influence than we'd guess, don't they? It makes her wonder how much her new one has.]

That's a good idea. Fewer people Tyki terrorized to pass by and see me. [She heads that way, still getting used to the different roll of Tyki's hips and gait. Overall, she looks pretty smooth doing it, but it's taking some extra thought she doesn't normally give to things like walking.]

It would be interesting to have to fight in this.

[Even Jack can feel self-conscious sometimes, and especially when he's occupying the body of a man Kitty knows incredibly well and still loves, but which conversely feels like a far cry from the relative magnificence of his own. It's hard to feel comfortable in this body. He'd never realised how much of his self-confidence comes from his body - its looks, its easy movement, its fitness, its fighting skills.]

I'd really rather not have to try. [Dryly, because while Kitty seems to be managing walking pretty well in Tyki's body, he's still having trouble getting control of Reid's gangly limbs.]

How much of his powers do you have control over?

I'm still figuring out the phasing. It's different than mine. He explained it as being able to choose what he touches so he can hit you at the same time your fist goes right through him harmlessly. I can't do that. But he also can't take people along for the ride. He doesn't end up naked though so there's some level of applying it beyond himself. But it comes naturally enough. [Not as integral to her as her own power, but one she's very comfortable with. She does have a certain confidence with this body. She knew him as long as she knew anyone here and they were intimate for some time. She's also fought with him. She knows how he moves. It's different from the inside, but the body is in great shape and it's not as big of an adjustment as it could be physically.]

I can feel the tease inside. I've been thinking about letting them out and killing them.

Haven't messed with the dark matter. I was thinking playing around with all of it might be good. [It would be terrible.] In case he ever returns without the noah turned off. [The noah is still on in this body and playing with powers means being influenced by it.]

I guess at least it was you who got his body. You're about the only one with even a chance at understanding how it all works!

[He watches her walk in Tyki's body, talking in Tyki's voice about basically sabotaging his powers. It's a very odd dissonance.]

Whilst I'm all for doing what we can while we can in case he comes back again, do you think it would actually be a good idea? It wouldn't - you know - seduce you to the dark side too or something?

I don't know. You have a body and you kind of have to make it work for you. Sort of what happened when my powers came in too. Though one day isn't much time to work with. [Hopefully it's one day like usual. They shouldn't rely on that so heavily, but it's rarely been anything else.

She frowns at his last comment though. Is there something to that? He wouldn't have powers at all if it wasn't for the noah, so there must be some aspect of it in the body. She's not exactly sure how it works.]

I...don't really know. I think I feel fine. [Though now she's questioning if she jumped to threatening Jack too quickly out there. But she's just protective of Reid and annoyed he didn't believe her, right?]

Yeah. These things definitely take getting used to.

[He gives her an odd look as he holds open the door for her to pass through. She may not be 'dressed' as a lady today, but he's still a gentleman.]

What happened when your powers 'came in'? Did you just wake up one day and know you could do things you couldn't do before?

[He wonders how it compares to waking up from being shot through the heart and eventually realising your life was never going to be the same again.]

It started with headaches. They got worse for a couple of weeks until it felt like my head was going to split open. Then one night I went to bed and I woke up when I hit the floor in the living room beneath my room. I thought, you know, maybe I sleep walked and fell somehow. It didn't make any sense and I was afraid to think about it too much, but things kept happening. I'd reach for something and I couldn't grab it because my hand would slip through.

I just tried to keep anyone else from finding out because I was one of them. And I was scared, and I didn't want to be a monster.

[He chuckles sympathetically when she talks about falling through the floor in her sleep, and heads automatically over to the coffee maker to get some coffee going, because it's what he always does when he comes into HQ.]

It must have been terrifying, even without the social stigma. At least you weren't the only one, though, I guess. Going through that sort of change alone is... hard.

	I got more alone before I got less. I was detected and infinite soldiers were sent to retrieve me. I got away. My parents didn't. But that's all history now. Yeah, I guess. [And moving on] Dysfunctional family would probably describe Torchwood too. A small group, spent almost all our time together, plenty of rivalry and UST - well, okay, I suppose that's less of a family thing...

[That is definitely one of the things that's not helping this not be awkward. Generally, he feels they're managing pretty well to ignore it, but there are just those odd moments where it slips out and threatens to upset everything.

Luckily, he's not the only one capable of relieving the tension with a joke, even if unintentional. He chuckles.] Unresolved sexual tension. Where two - or more - people really like each other but can't or won't do anything about it.

[Okay, so that completely failed at steering the conversation away from their relationship, didn't it? He makes his own attempt at levity.] Actually, it's probably not that accurate for Torchwood. The sexual tended to get resolved pretty quickly there. It's just that it didn't always reduce the tension...

[Much better to focus on the murderer. Even if it is weird to hear her talk about sex with Tyki whilst standing there in his body. He chuckles a bit.] Oh, we had a lot of time to kill in between alien invasions or whatever. And we all got pretty good at multi-tasking after a while. </small>[He opens his mouth to tell her how good Ianto was at answering the phone in the middle of getting fucked, but realises just in time that Ianto probably wouldn't appreciate that kind of bragging. Instead, he checks the coffee, and locates a couple of mugs.]</small>

You want some of this? I don't know how Tyki takes his coffee - mind you, I don't know how Reid takes his coffee. I'm pretty sure he doesn't take four sugars like I do!

[It's interesting how bringing up her and Tyki's past—passionate and occasionally intimate as it was—actually turns her stomach a little now. She'd known he was "the bad guy" from the very beginning. It was never in question, and she'd even broken up with him once when he attacked Allen and Cross, but ultimately she went back. She could tell herself it was a battle. They were warriors too. They were on opposing sides of war. Even if she believe Allen was on the right side of it, she found reasons not to be alone when they could be together. It wasn't until the second attack on Cross that the split was permanent and by then she'd already started developing feelings for Reid even if she wasn't aware of it. But Tyki didn't pass out of her life then either. He was a shadow that stayed over her relationship with Reid and sometimes she encouraged it. He was even the one she went to when Reid left and she finally broke down. And today in his body she can feel as much empathy for him as she ever has. The scars hurt all of the time and there is a flutter of something going on. Maybe Jack was right about being cautious. But despite all of that it finally feels wrong that they were together ever since she saw the aftermath with Ianto. His dismembered body and his blood on the walls... It wasn't an act of war. It wasn't a warrior fighting for his side. It was horrifying, sickening art from someone more troubled and disturbed than she ever allowed herself to believe.]

Reid's been drinking tea more, but he took it black with lots of sugar. Tyki, I don't know. He'd probably pour his out and take it with whiskey or something. I don't need any. Thanks.

So, you and Gwen too? [She hadn't known the woman long, but she knew they were from the same world.]
