Day 331 (strange relations) / Open Video / Picnic Mingle
[Have Euphie's smiling face on the screen. Kanji and I would like to invite you all to a picnic today! Of course we want to see all our family there, but friends and soon-to-be friends too. [That means strangers.]

You don't have to worry about bringing anything, but if you'd like to bring something extra to share or a game that would be fun or even just an extra blanket just in case that would always be welcome.

We'll be in Trois Park near the koi pond and fountain at noon today.

[There will already be some blankets laid out and pink picnic baskets with a variety of food—many of which have been prepared in extra cute ways like rice balls shaped like cats. You probably think this was mostly Euphie's doing, but it was mostly that boyfriend of hers, Kanji.]

Eh. [A vague shrug.] I have no reason to be unhappy, but this morning I was thinking to myself, "Pavel, what is it about this woman that you love?," and I had no answer, so I began to think more and I realized that I barely know her. I don't know what she likes to do, or what her dreams are, or what her favorite color is. Would she like sushi that is shaped like a cat, or would she think that sushi is better shaped like sushi? I have no idea.

A good point. I will aim for the moon, whatever that is comparable to. [Never too sensitive. The moon would be, what? How much Jack and Kitty love the other's left legs?] Nothing happened that I remember.

[He sighs melodramatically, trying to downplay his actual worries by amplifying them theatrically.] Maybe this is a natural reaction to loving someone when you know that you can't keep them. I had no intention of falling in love again, you know.

Pavel... [Voice softening and she covers his hand with her own, giving it a squeeze.] None of us are... Okay, one of us are immortal, but there are never any guarantees. Ever. Anywhere. I know this place can be brutal and unfair, but we're still fighting it. And as long as we're fighting we've got a chance.

Maybe we can go to the world of our choosing after this or maybe we can just shut down the influx and stay here and run it ourselves. I don't know. But it's not impossible and even if it was... Aren't the good minutes worth the bad hours?

[Wow, no, that would definitely be bragging and that's not cool.]

It's remarkable that we can all be happy. [A little wistful, maybe? Impressed? But not sad.] Look at this: we're far removed from our homes, our bodies are trapped in pods while we live inside of a projection, and in spite of that it would be difficult to imagine a nicer day or a better opportunity to be happy.
