Day 331 (strange relations) / Open Video / Picnic Mingle
[Have Euphie's smiling face on the screen. Kanji and I would like to invite you all to a picnic today! Of course we want to see all our family there, but friends and soon-to-be friends too. [That means strangers.]

You don't have to worry about bringing anything, but if you'd like to bring something extra to share or a game that would be fun or even just an extra blanket just in case that would always be welcome.

We'll be in Trois Park near the koi pond and fountain at noon today.

[There will already be some blankets laid out and pink picnic baskets with a variety of food—many of which have been prepared in extra cute ways like rice balls shaped like cats. You probably think this was mostly Euphie's doing, but it was mostly that boyfriend of hers, Kanji.]

(OOC: Mingle! Tag yourself in or hit up Euphie on video here or at the picnic here. Want to be a relation of Euphie's? Just let me know!)

[She startles at the voice and looks up at the... pirate? Sarah nods.]

Fine... I think. Just... I don't know. I guess I have no business saying anything. It's nothing.

[Sorry. She's shy. And confused. And if he keeps talking, she'll likely spill whatever is bothering her.]

[ Well. That's not... quite what he expects. He crouches beside her so as not to loom, and tilts his head to one side. ]

Do you have somebody to talk about it, then? I mean, it's harder with a stranger, even in a place where...

[ He shrugs. A place where they need to depend on each other. ]

And, by the way, my name's Neil. Neil Dylandy.

[Names are good. Names are distracting. She ignores his question in favor of introductions.]

Hi Neil. I'm Sarah. How long've you been here?

[ Oh, he notices. He might seek her out in a day or two, to check up on all of that. Maybe. ]

It's all of my third day, here, though people tell me it's not my first time around. [ Yes, he only arrived after the flood. And didn't know enough to pay sufficient attention to the new-day announcement. ] How 'bout you?

So you missed... you missed the flood. I've been here for... ... a very long time. I don't know exactly how long. But it seems like forever. Though others have been here even longer.

I was told about the flood, but, yeah, I got here the day after. I was told...

Did you lose somebody in the flood?

[ Kitty told him some people died in it. Nobody has actually told him, however, that death doesn't necessarily last, under this dome. ]

[Sarah seems confused at his question. How does she even answer that? The person she lost was herself. And then she came back. So... how did she put that into words?]

No. Not really. I mean, they came back.

[ ... wait, what? ]

Came... back?

[ Neil's mind screeches in its tracks, then tries to make sense of that. Virtual reality. People dying and... returning. ]

I can't imagine that's easy on anyone involved, either. Maybe easier than the alternative, but not that much.

Nope. Not really. But that's what this place is like. Nothing makes sense and people get blamed for the stupidest things.

[OK. Yeah... so not really OK.]

[ Neil would shudder, but that's... not something to do, next to the person who has the actual reason to be upset. Instead, he hovers for a moment - and speaks up. ]

There's not much I can say, but, if you'd like some company, I can stick close for a bit. You don't have to talk, though if you need to - I can listen.

[Sarah picked up the sketch book again and started absently drawing.]

Company's good. I mean, it's nice to have someone around. You know? Even if you aren't my age. But most of the adults here are OK. Better than the ones at hoe at least. [OK, so she's primarily babbling.]

And some people are lucky. They have friends from home here. I don't, but others do. Do you?

Well, my twin's here. He's a few years older than me now, though, so that's interesting.

And another friend. [ He can do easy rambling, if not, just now, babbling. ]

They've both been here for a long time. Seems I've been here before, for a good while, too. But I can't remember.

You have a twin? Who's you're twin? Are you identical?

[It's really not fair how many people have friends here.]

[ Sorry, Sarah. But would you really like somebody who you care about, here? ]

Identical, yep.

Lyle Dylandy. He's been here a while. Teaches history, I think assists in teaching something else. Captain of one of the baseball teams, too, I think.

[ Not like he's proud of his twin or anything. ]

Oh... I don't think I've met him.

[She's never been to a history class, or a baseball game.]

Yuuri tried to get me to join the baseball team, but I'm not really all that good. [Or interested.]

Well, now you'll know who he is. Looks mostly like me, only without an eyepatch.

[ And dresses more along the lines of teal than green, but, details. ]

No? What are you good at, then?

Drawing. [Just at that moment, she loses control of her arms and legs, sending the charcoal skittering across the paper and into the grass.]

... at least I was. I'm also a bookworm. Huge bookworm.
