[She wakes up on the floating island with the blaring and vibrating of the giant speakers below her. She can't really process the message, and as it turns out that doesn't really matter to her at the moment because everything that happened yesterday is taking on a whole new context. She threatened Reid. She threatened Reid. He looked so hurt. So did Nathan. She reaches up to call him only to remember she left her communicator by the bed. She'll just have to get there herself then. Without another moment's delay she phases, dropping right through the island and getting herself to the apartment as fast as she can.]

Reid! Nathan!? [Calling out their names as soon as she drops in through the ceiling of the kitchen as it turns out.]

[Action | Open (After the breakup)]
[Nathan is still in the hospital. Reid is...wherever he went. The apartment is all hers at the moment and she has no intention of going back there until she's too exhausted to be awake long for it. She's not sure if she wants to avoid people or be with them, so for now she's just walking without paying much attention to where that takes her.]

Thanks. [Its been about two years now and he still misses her and still hates what happened but it's different now than it was. It's something he can live with, and a lot of that is thanks to Jack.]

I don't think I'll ever stop loving her or stop missing her, but that doesn't mean I don't love Jack. It took me a long time to stop pushing him away after what happened, and I think it took him just as long to forgive me for everything, but loving each other now doesn't take away from what I had with her or what he had with John or anyone else over the years. I don't think you love just one person for your entire life but I don't think that means anything you might have with a person you care about is less special. I don't know how long it's going to hurt him to have lost her or how long he might push you away but I don't think grieving over her means he loved her more than you or cares about you less. I pushed Jack away because having feelings for him made me feel like I was losing her all over again. Like I had to hold onto that pain and not let myself be happy because she as gone.

Listen, I'm glad it worked out for you, but it's not the same. Our relationship isn't starting. He knows exactly what he's throwing away.

It's not like he said he needed time. He wanted me gone. [And as much as this hurts right now the idea of holding on to some kind of false hope that he'll change his mind and want to be with her hurts more and makes her feel more than a little pathetic even if she knows if he came in that door right now saying it was a mistake that she'd run to him.]

[She nods and sits back down. This time on the coffee table, facing him, but her gaze is on the floor.] Yeah, it's not the first time he's tried to end things since he got back. Not even the second... I've been fighting so hard. But... I was the only one fighting.

[He almost says no out of habit. After all he's not used to having anyone to talk to about these things in the first place. As much as he loves Gwen she tends to be a bit much sometimes and other than her and Jack he's not particularly close with anyone at home. Talking about things simply hasn't been an option before now. But she was honest with him even when it couldn't have been easy. Surely he can do the same.]

There's just been so much happening lately and I suppose it's all starting to add up. He's been acting strangely but I can tell if there's someting actually wrong with him or if it's because of things that have happened.

Angrier, more aggressive, I suppose. [After this morning he knows Jack is being affected by a pearl but it's still hard to blame it all on that. Very reluctantly he explains.] He got hurt, when we were putting Spike's soul back. Quite badly, actually. And I shot him. It was... I've never killed him before, and I don't think either one of us is coping with it very well.

I noticed that too, with the aggression. I thought he was just upset about Spike or not good with not being the one at the top of the food chain. [She figured maybe it was a natural progression of the DF heating up.]

Jack told me his injuries were minor and that he died to heal up faster. He said you were with him. He didn't say you were the one who...

[It feels like she's run out of the right words to say so she tries something else leaning forward on that coffee table to give him a hug. It's a little awkward, but she means well?]

[Lots of hugging today. But it seems to make it alright, suddenly. He's been working so hard to be alright with it for Jack's sake, to pretend he's not as bothered by it as he is. As a result the sudden sympathy hits rather harder than he expected it to, and he swallows around the lump in his throat.] I just thought he must have had to do it so many times in his life and it must be so hard and I couldn't let him.
