250 - Fear Itself Mingle
[ Today is a day where most would be at risk of oversleeping.The dome lies dark like in the dead of night. The sun hasn’t risen today, streetlights casting a dull yellow glow and occasionally flickering out into nothing, only to spark back to life a moment later. There is no electric flicker from the kiosk. The Wardens are still. The wardens are silent.

The dome isn’t silent. There is a rustling of leaves, a snapping of twigs. Claws, scraping against concrete. The inhuman screech of an animal in peril, an animal hunting, an animal hunted. A screech that promises sharp claws and sharper teeth and blood.

The dome isn’t still either. There is something moving, thick as a shadow, tangible as a chill down your spine. Something that doesn’t belong here, something that snuck in when no one was looking. A boogeyman under the bed. A ghost in the closet. A will o’ the wisp, blinking in and out of existence under the flickering streetlights. Whatever it is it’s moving, leaving a trail of cold, dead fear wherever it passes. Something dark. A shadow so pitch black that it blots out the very lights in your heart, dragging your fears out screaming and kicking, reducing even the strongest, toughest man to a blubbering baby.

Perhaps best to stay in bed today, Marina. ]

	[Have this look, Aidan. Piper was not happy. She could stop one or two for a few moments, but a bunch? That might have to resort to explosions, which could cause problems in this place. [ "A bunch" in this case may translate to nothing more than three or four. It's difficult to count when you're adrenaline is racing. It could just as easily be more than that of course and in any case it's not great news. A baseball bat can only do so much.

Speaking of, his grip on it is tightening at that noise. Breath held in his lungs, Aidan presses himself back against the wall. ]

[Just three or four was plenty enough since Piper's powers weren't at full force. She waited as well, listening to the scrape of the claws on the pavement of the street. They were moving slowly, hunting. They had lost sight of their prey, but not the scent.

She waited until she could see all four of them. If she could spook all of them with a well aimed explosion, they might all take off and give her and Aidan a chance to get away.]

[ The last time he felt this kind of tense excitement was... well, a long time ago. The closest he's gotten was that time the dome got attacked by sea monsters but back then he was locked down in breathless panic and right now he's really not. He's not going to let anything leave him cowering in a corner again. Never.

Eyes darting between the approaching sound and Piper, Aidan waits. Fight or flight? ]

[How about fight then flight? As the creatures came into view, Piper gestured her hands out towards them, freezing the lead one in place. When the others didn't stop with it, but rather paused slightly to investigate before moving forward again, she repeated the movement. This time, though, a small explosion fired off in mid-air in front of them. The creatures were startled and began to move back away a bit.]

Let's go!

[ His eyes widen in surprise and confusion as the first one stops, even more so when the explosion follows and for a moment his heart is racing so fast it feels like it's not beating at all, breath freezing in his lungs as the heavy dose of adrenaline floods his veins. It brings with it a smell of dirt and blood and gun powder, images threatening to freeze him in place.

Luckily he manages to shake it at the sound of her voice, hesitating wild-eyed for just a moment before forcing his body into movement. ]

That one stuck in place was going to start moving soon, so hanging around wasn't really an option.] Did you have a place to go? [Good. Because those raptors were moving and moving fast. They came around the corner after the humans, and Piper turned back as she heard the claws on the pavement. She froze another one, but it didn't deter them this time.]

Third building on the right!

[She went for a somewhat bigger explosion right in front of the crowd of raptors. They stopped, snarling and shaking their heads. She grabbed Aidan's arm and pulled him along.]

[She opened the door and went inside quickly.]

	That would probably be helpful. [Piper wasn't into that kind of stuff herself. Though, she did run a nightclub back home, and definitely indulged in the occasional drinking binge... but that was another thing.] Take your time. I think we'll be okay for a bit.
