250 - Fear Itself Mingle
[ Today is a day where most would be at risk of oversleeping.The dome lies dark like in the dead of night. The sun hasn’t risen today, streetlights casting a dull yellow glow and occasionally flickering out into nothing, only to spark back to life a moment later. There is no electric flicker from the kiosk. The Wardens are still. The wardens are silent.

The dome isn’t silent. There is a rustling of leaves, a snapping of twigs. Claws, scraping against concrete. The inhuman screech of an animal in peril, an animal hunting, an animal hunted. A screech that promises sharp claws and sharper teeth and blood.

The dome isn’t still either. There is something moving, thick as a shadow, tangible as a chill down your spine. Something that doesn’t belong here, something that snuck in when no one was looking. A boogeyman under the bed. A ghost in the closet. A will o’ the wisp, blinking in and out of existence under the flickering streetlights. Whatever it is it’s moving, leaving a trail of cold, dead fear wherever it passes. Something dark. A shadow so pitch black that it blots out the very lights in your heart, dragging your fears out screaming and kicking, reducing even the strongest, toughest man to a blubbering baby.

Perhaps best to stay in bed today, Marina. ]

[Tieria flinched, bringing up his own flashlight at Jack in return, as well as brandishing a rather large kitchen knife when he jumped back a step or two to gain some immediate distance from whoever or whatever he had just walked into.]

Captain Jack Harkness.

[Yup. That was Tieria alright. Despite his tense posture and slightly startled, yet angry sounding yelp at their collision, he still managed to sound oddly calm when he acknowledged who was standing there.]

I have been better. [Truthfully. It always sucked when these things happened. Darkness, nasty creatures, horrible feelings in the back of one's mind keeping one paranoid and creeped out... he wasn't happy.

He was also a bit disheveled by this point, having come across a few other people, and a few creatures.]

I'm fine.

[He's not, really – he's alternating between feeling thoroughly spooked for absolutely no reason and thoroughly pissed off with the whole fucking dome – but he's not going to admit that to Tiera. He's only met the guy a couple of times, plus Tiera always seems to have that whole unnatural calm thing going on. At least he looks a bit tousled this time, not that that's good, of course, but it makes Jack feel a bit better about looking equally untidy.]

Had to fight off a few raptors but otherwise nothing major. You managing all right with that knife?

[Jack's lips twisted ruefully.] Ye-ah. Sorry. Wish I had a supply of guns to hand out to everyone. As it is, I barely even have an adequate supply of ammo for this! [Gesturing with the gun in the hand not holding the torch.]

Yeah, I've been trying to get people indoors too. I don't think those raptors have worked out how to open doors, at least. Though, I don't know, but I'm not sure they're all there is out there. It feels... It feels like there's something else out there, in the dark.

I do not believe they have. So far, people have been safe indoors as long as they stay away from large windows.

But, yes. There does feel like something else is there. [At this, he actually looked over his shoulder, and that was probably a glimmer of nervousness in his expression.] There had been several incidents in the previous dome that had released the raptors as well, but also brought about other creatures, and a deep cold fog.

[He flinched a little at the memory. It hadn't been all that long ago since the last one, either... approximately 180 days or so. Those creepy puppet doll things with the razor wire strings had been very disturbing...]

Indeed.

[He frowned.]

Several types. They changed each time. One group resembled humans who had been spliced together to look like spiders. They had extra limbs and crawled, jumping down from above to attack. Another was a group of animated puppets, life sized, with strings of razor wire they used to entangle victims.

[He started to look more shaken now as he really thought about them again.]

It was all very unpleasant.

[He kept his gaze turned away from Jack the whole time he spoke, as if looking for creatures, but it was partially to hide his feelings. His jaw tensed as he forced the images away. These strange things just did not exist in his world. It wasn't something he knew how to deal with.]

	Yeah, so far. Just that... feeling of something else crawling around just out of sight. Of course, it doesn't help when 'just out of sight' encompasses 98% of your surroundings. [Except that at that moment the lights came back on. It was still dark, still night time, but the difference was amazing. He let out a sigh of relief.] That's better!
