250 - Fear Itself Mingle
[ Today is a day where most would be at risk of oversleeping.The dome lies dark like in the dead of night. The sun hasn’t risen today, streetlights casting a dull yellow glow and occasionally flickering out into nothing, only to spark back to life a moment later. There is no electric flicker from the kiosk. The Wardens are still. The wardens are silent.

The dome isn’t silent. There is a rustling of leaves, a snapping of twigs. Claws, scraping against concrete. The inhuman screech of an animal in peril, an animal hunting, an animal hunted. A screech that promises sharp claws and sharper teeth and blood.

The dome isn’t still either. There is something moving, thick as a shadow, tangible as a chill down your spine. Something that doesn’t belong here, something that snuck in when no one was looking. A boogeyman under the bed. A ghost in the closet. A will o’ the wisp, blinking in and out of existence under the flickering streetlights. Whatever it is it’s moving, leaving a trail of cold, dead fear wherever it passes. Something dark. A shadow so pitch black that it blots out the very lights in your heart, dragging your fears out screaming and kicking, reducing even the strongest, toughest man to a blubbering baby.

Perhaps best to stay in bed today, Marina. ]

[This wasn't good. Having run into his double thinking the same thing as him at the convenience store, Duo had a makeshift weapon consisting of a detached mop handle, a butcher knife, and a lot of duct tape. It was better than nothing, and didn't require extra ammo, and had been fast to throw together. He wasn't going to look a gift horse in the mouth.

Now that he was armed, he headed off to find people who weren't so resourceful, or, at least, weren't so lucky to get to the store, and help them out as best he could.]

Not that you could ask for it today anyway.

[Trowa effortlessly jumps down to where Duo is standing. He'd have no problems getting back to his vantage point so he wasn't concerned with that]

I'm holding up. The nagging feeling there is something behind me but besides that.

[That was part of the reason for his vantage point. He had some light, he could hear just about everything, and with a wall behind him he could dismiss that feeling of something being behind him]

	I don't doubt that there are such things. I’ve seen them but I’ve decided I can do more keeping watch for them for others who might be in the area and assisting those who need it. [Toul wasn't really someone who enjoyed using weapons to begin with, but right now she is using a balancing staff that she had taking from the athletic's center because it seemed the least harmful of all the things she had been looking at. It's a good thing she had been training this morning because otherwise she would have had no idea what was going on.

But that didn't save her from being chased by the reptilian beasts and she had struck one upside the head before making a run for it. Should she notice anyone else, she'll be quick to wave them back in the other direction.]

[Sorry, Toul, but Duo was a firm believer in kill or be killed, especially when it came to creatures like this. Humans were a different matter entirely, but these monsters had decided he was a tasty snack, and he'd rather use a stabbity spear than a blunt stick to fight them off with. It had higher chances for his own hide to stay intact.

He heard her voice and turned, weapon ready, though he was looking past her as she came towards him.]

How many are behind you?

[Because, if it was only one or two, he was going to try scaring them off so they could get away. More than that, though, and running probably was the better choice.]

I don't know the the number exactly! [She turned back quickly for a moment, trying to get an idea.] Smaller than a lion hunting party, but there are at least three. We shouldn't stay here.

[Then she turns back to him, ready to reach out and grab him hand to pull him along with her.] I was told that they're also inmates, but I rather think they are not interested in borrowing a cup of milk from their neighbors.

	I dunno. I haven't heard if they can. But, I'm not gonna just sit inside a building when there might be someone out there who can't get to one. [Duo had an odd sense of duty when it counted. [Toul would really like to argue the fact that putting your life in danger for a person that may or not be in danger themselves--she hasn't seen anyone else except this young man here--doesn't make as much sense as he thinks it does, but she's not someone who could leave someone if they were in danger either. It's the entire reason why she's standing here with him instead of fleeing on her own. So she takes a deep breath and turns back the way she came.]

All right, then. We best be quick about it before they see us.

	This is the largest group I've come across so far. Mostly I'd only seen pairs or threes. I had managed to slip by them, but thought one of them may have caught my scent. These raptors... they're not sentient. You're not fighting a person. It's different. They're gonna eat you or rip you to shreds and they don't care. If it comes down to it, I'm going to do my best to make sure I walk away alive.
