250 - Fear Itself Mingle
[ Today is a day where most would be at risk of oversleeping. The dome lies dark like in the dead of night. The sun hasn’t risen today, streetlights casting a dull yellow glow and occasionally flickering out into nothing, only to spark back to life a moment later. There is no electric flicker from the kiosk. The Wardens are still. The wardens are silent.

The dome isn’t silent. There is a rustling of leaves, a snapping of twigs. Claws, scraping against concrete. The inhuman screech of an animal in peril, an animal hunting, an animal hunted. A screech that promises sharp claws and sharper teeth and blood.

The dome isn’t still either. There is something moving, thick as a shadow, tangible as a chill down your spine. Something that doesn’t belong here, something that snuck in when no one was looking. A boogeyman under the bed. A ghost in the closet. A will o’ the wisp, blinking in and out of existence under the flickering streetlights. Whatever it is it’s moving, leaving a trail of cold, dead fear wherever it passes. Something dark. A shadow so pitch black that it blots out the very lights in your heart, dragging your fears out screaming and kicking, reducing even the strongest, toughest man to a blubbering baby.

Perhaps best to stay in bed today, Marina. ]

((OOC: Event information HERE. We ask the winners of the raffle to fill out a simple survey and then tag into the Vapor thread HERE! Happy mingling, Marinanites! ))

[Klara has no trouble seeing when the blackouts occur, but she's still wishing she had stayed inside today. But being alone with the power flickering and that dark sense of dread creeping up her spin had not been an option. She felt terrified, as if something was coming, but she couldn't figure out what. The shadows moved and she wanted to get as far away from them as possible.

It's not logical, she tries to tell herself. She knows she can't be harmed easily, knows she can't die easily, but the fear is there. So she had fled out into the dark of the dome.

She moves cautiously around buildings and down shadowed alleys until she smells it. It's strong and sweet and full of something she can't quite pick out from a distance. Blood. Someone is bleeding nearby. And it's wonderful.

No. It's not good. It's bad. It's very bad, because it means someone is hurt and might need help. She should get help. But she doesn't know where the person is. What if she's too late bringing someone to help them? What should she do? It's not heavy enough to be a lot of blood, but she's still worried.

The scent is getting stronger, closer, and Klara freezes on the street, once again struck by that dread and uncomfortable need to get away. She can't stay here. Something bad is going to happen, someone is coming, someone is going to--

She's not paying attention and she hurries, looking behind her and not at the person she is about to collide with as she turns into the dark alley.]

[Her reflexes extended to capacity, Lacus manages to leap above the shadowy figure that suddenly darted into the alley. The blade of her short knife flashes in what little light dapples in from the nearest working streetlight as she spins and prepares to attack -- ]

[She stops mid-strike, blinking as she notes that the thing she's attacking is most certainly not a raptor, as she thought. Her knife-hand is bleeding mildly, but she pays it no mind.]

Oh... I'm terribly sorry. I didn't see it was you at first. Are you all right?

[The smell is so strong and Klara is staring at that hand with the knife and the blood. There is so much fear in the air and she doesn't know if it's just her heart she can hear beating in her ears. Why is she so afraid?

She takes a step back, but doesn't run away. Not yet.]

It...It's fine. I'm sorry. I didn't know you were here. [It's not exactly the truth, but it isn't entirely a lie. She knew someone was down this way and they were bleeding. She knew their blood smelled so nice.] Did the monsters attack you?
