[Day 229] [Voice|Closed|Action|Open] WATER BALLOON FIGHT
[It is a hot day. Sweltering and humid and for many it could feel pretty icky. It is around noon when a unfamiliar and obviously modified voice comes over the network. It sounds a little robotic, too high to be normal, but also manic, in a good way. Excited, amused.]

Anyone really fed up with the heat yet? I know I am. So here's your Declaration of War on Humidity. Park your butt on the number four and you'll get yourself a nice splash of color to cool you down.

[There is silence for some time, enough that one might even think that he disconnected. Then it comes back with a laugh.] Or you could just come over to Quatro Park and join in on the fun. [Then there is a disconnect. Someone could try to ask a question, but no responses will be given.]

[Anyone who is Sector 4 and wanders towards Qautro Park might notice that there is large bucket sitting right at the entrance. Look inside and you will see that it is filled to the brim with balloons. Water balloons.

And there are more buckets like this. Scattered all over the park, beside a bench, behind a bush, right in the open in the center of a copse of trees. They are everywhere. All of them full of balloons.

And if you don't look out you might just be hit with one of them. Oh, what's all that red covering your hair and your shirt? Whoops guess these balloons are full of colored water. It might wash out at the end of the day, but be careful now or you could end up looking like a soaked rainbow.

Do you turn back and try to escape? Are you trapped there as a victim of water balloon warfare? Or will you grab a balloon yourself and go looking for whoever just threw one at you?]

{OOC: Water balloon fight! Richie spent the morning putting it together so it's forward-dated to noon and later. Two robots will be there making up more balloons as the day goes so they won't run out for a while and another is hiding in the park to throw balloons at random passersby. The coloring in the water is completely safe and washes out with soap from clothes, skin, and hair. Not that characters will know that at first. Have your characters wander in, get dragged by a friend, become an accidental casualty, anything you want! Mingle away the heat!}

	I'm aware of what you and Aidan were referencing, but I don't think I'm so one-sided. Especially in that area, I can be very flexible. If it was for the right person I could see myself following their lead. [Smoothly, she transitions from sexual preferences to the mechanics of cute haros.] I didn't make Pink. [She laughs daintily!] Ours was an arranged engagement. Our parents wanted to take advantage of the political connection of our families. Athrun is a sweet man and a good friend, but he never loved me in that way. Even if I hadn't been declared a traitor I doubt he would have wanted to marry me.

And now that you mention it, he was rather tentative. Perhaps I needed someone more commanding. [Continued amusement because if anything Kira can be even less take-charge at times, but when he's determined nothing stops him.]

	Aah. [She's piqued his interest!] Perhaps you did need someone more commanding and spontaneous. [He smiles a little at that, because that guy sounded lame and so he's glad he's a former fiance.] Arranged marriages... the only upside of not having parents. It can be a downside, too, I suppose. Spontaneous. That's a good word. Yes, I'm sure would like someone spontaneous.

Though I believe my father did the best he could. My mother died when I was very little, and I expect he thought an engagement to a powerful family would ensure my future. He realized his mistake before he was killed, but unfortunately never got to see things resolved. [Perspective, she has it in spades.]

When did you lose your parents, Sougo?

Even though I had my father, I believe I know something of what you may have endured. He was away many times with his duties as Chairmen, and I had to manage myself. It's very difficult.

[She's prompting him to say more without going into more specific questions. She's notices Sougo tends to say more when she doesn't pointedly ask.]

[A soft, neutral sound of understanding.] That's the second time in as many days you've compared me to your sister.

[Lacus is careful to express no approval or distaste about that, even though she's not entirely certain the comparison is a good thing. She didn't especially love it when Aidan compared her to his mother, either -- she prefers to be thought of as herself, nothing more. But Aidan at least meant it as a compliment, so she's not upset, it just isn't her preference.]

[The hand closest to him reaches up to brush his shoulder, then falls away.] It's not a bad thing if that's what you see and feel. That you would compare me with someone so important to you is touching, in a way. If I can, in some small way, bring you a familiar comfort or happiness, I am glad of that.

But we are different people, she and I. What I want to be to you is not a reminder of her. Each time you speak to me of her, I can tell it pains you. I do not want to be a source of pain for you, Sougo. Nor would I want to disappoint you.

[Her thumb gently strokes his cheek for as long as he keeps her hand there.] I wish I could take the pain away, so that when you thought of her you would have nothing but joy.

What is that 'everything else'? [She has a feeling she knows, but making presumptions right now wouldn't be fair.]

["It's fine," is what he wanted to say. But though he does appreciate that she wishes for him to have only joy, he felt he would never be fine since he has so much regret for the things he had done. Letting go was a difficult thing.]

Everything else... [He lets go of her hand.] The feeling that I didn't do enough. Leaving my sister by herself, even after she cared for me as well as she did. The fact that she never got to get married and live happily ever after, and live a normal life. Everything being my fault.

[Lacus nods along, not in agreement but to show attentiveness. Of course she can't agree that everything was his fault; his sister wouldn't either, she's sure. But nothing she says will convince him otherwise. All she can do is be what comfort she can be and try, over time, to show him that he deserves good things despite whatever guilt he carries.]

Every time you speak so openly to me, I am grateful for the trust you show me. I would like to help you believe better of yourself, but the past is past and nothing I can say now will make you think otherwise.

[Her smile widens slightly as she tugs gently on his arm.] All I can do is take you for cold sake to try and put a smile on your face, so that's what I will do.

That, and I can promise that as long as I am able, I will always be by your side. No matter what happens.

Ah, yes. No drink is too strong for a man, and they're not ticklish. I'll start a list.

[She slips an arm through his, quite casually.] There must be things you'll have to get used to as well, hanging around me. Like flowers around the apartment. [Since she got approximately four dozen at Christmas and has since decided she likes them around.] I'm sure there are others...
