day 225 | xiii ❧ potluck mingle!

[ this is her first time doing one of these without gran, and something she thought was going to be difficult for those very reasons is actually rather therapeutic, heartwarming -- a glance back at her roots, back when she was just adele stackhouse's weird granddaughter and not that fae who mingles with vampires. sookie contributes a few dishes from her gran's old recipes, along with something lafayette taught her to make. she's got all the tables in this part of trois park covered with checkered table clothes of varying colors, lots of plastic silverware, paper plates, cups, and napkins at the ready, and a stack of picnic blankets folded up on one of the benches for those who wish to sit on the grass instead of at a table. sookie even brought a long a mesh bag full of sports equipment -- or rather, a couple frisbees, a football, soccer ball, basketball, and even some hacky sacks. (she's not the sports type, but jason would always be off playing something with the other guys.)

hopefully she didn't leave anything out. hopefully this will help cheer everyone up some, both the new arrivals and those still dealing with the days they spent in that other prison. ]

It's weird being back here so quickly.

[In this dome after that other facility.]

I'm honestly surprised we weren't there longer.

I'm not going to complain.

[She huffs softly]

The whole time I felt so powerless over there. I hated it.

[Just places a hand on her head and ruffles her hair slightly.]

I know you hate it. But it's not the worst thing in the world, is it? Being human?

It's not that I mind being human.

[Honestly, she doesn't. That isn't what bothers her.]

Often I... wonder at how much easier things would have been if all of us were human from the start. Everything would be so much simpler.

[In her eyes, at least. Kaname wouldn't have a reason to go around hurting anyone. Zero's family would still be alive. Probably her parents, too.]

But we aren't and neither is everyone we know. Because of that I want to be able to make a difference and protect the people I care about. But I can't stand up to the empowered without being so myself. [There's really no chance otherwise. She makes a face.]

And, well-- I had never been stabbed when human before. Even if it feels weird, I really missed the ability to heal right away. When you're human the pain doesn't just disappear. That whole work out session and even showering made me feel sick to my stomach. [because it pulled and aggravated her injuries so badly.]

[That old fantasy again?]

I wish I had known you were in trouble. This isn't the first time that Euphemia has done this...

[She makes a face, before shaking her head]

The very last thing I would have wanted was to involve Zero. The whole time I was with Euphemia I was trying to keep her away from you, and Hikaru-kun, and Yuuri.

[With a small shrug, she sighs]

I thought I had her convinced that I wasn't Japanese, but when I tried to contain her things went south.

[Euphemia isn't overly strong or athletic, but she took Yuuki by surprise nonetheless.]

[He never realized that before.]

Do any of us even need to wear communicators in our apartment?

Ahaha, I only wear it around the apartment when listening to the network.

[Because otherwise the device can be a little annoying.]

It's nice being able to understand one another without it, isn't it?

She was under a type of compulsion. You've actually been the one to cure her before.

[Which might be more of the reason Euphemia felt threatened by Yuuki.]

That's... what I found out. I wasn't able to do anything this time around, though.

[It seemed unfair that they were all depowered, and yet whatever it was that messed with her remained.]

No, you wouldn't have been able. I wouldn't be surprised if they did it in part to make us more grateful for the things we are provided and given here.

[It wasn't like they had a ton of control over everything here.]

Euphemia doesn't deserve whatever happened to her to make her do those things. You'd think they would be able to fix it if something like that would happen.

They don't care.

[Of course they don't. She remembers what happened before they fell asleep and woke up in Marina Nova.]

We're just an experiment, here. They're just using the excuse that we're criminals.

[A small sigh]

I wish more people agreed. It bugs me that some people honestly believe they are genuine criminals. Even if the 'crimes' are really things people have done, it doesn't mean they are deserving of prison. Not in all cases.

No. But we're still held against our will. And ultimately, the wardens are able to do whatever they want to us.

Yet it's still infinitely much better than home for some people.

Yes, but some of us have experienced more traumatic life changing experiences out of our control so this doesn't seem as dramatic as others.

There was no cure in her world for what happened to her. If I recall my facts correctly,[Which he's not well aquainted to her, but there was a time that a large number of people that inhabited the dome were from her world.] Euphemia was killed in order to stop her.

[By now he's growing irritated and is taking this a little more personally than he probably should. Hands clenching tightly into fists, he turns to walk away and get some needed distance between them for a bit.]

Most people that have nothing but death to welcome them home aren't exactly scrambling to find a way back home to meet their fate.
