Day 222 — Mandatory activity mingle
[ It's a wonderful, stormy day here in Squall Asylum and vacation time is officially over! Your gracious overlords have worked out a light itinerary for you today and they expect you to keep it.

Get in line to pick up your food rations for the day. Eat breakfast if you have time for it, or perhaps you'd rather skip this one time and save yourself the discomfort during the two hours of exercise that follow. Jogging, jumping jacks or perhaps impromptu team sports, whatever you end up doing you bet you'll come out exercised in the end!

Should you not want to participate... well. We have ways to make you join in. Anyone reluctant to get their heart rate up will get a helpful electric prod by one of the bots until they comply. Tough cookies.

Luckily you'll get a chance to wash off that sweat (hope you're not shy, the wash room can get crowded) before it's time for the silent game for an hour, followed by lunch. The day is not over yet though! There's still time for a couple of hours of hard labor tending to the crops, doing laundry or perhaps breaking bricks in the yard. To make sure none of the inmates are broken this is also the time for mandatory physical checkups — bots will guide you to the hospital. No ifs or buts. The violation of personal privacy is for your own good, we promise.

Isn't it nice, being in prison? ]

((ooc: This mingle takes place during all of day 222. A bullet-point for of the itinerary can be found here, where we also encourage you to direct any questions. Event info is here if you need it. ))

The term itself is vague in nature, but its name would imply that it is responsible for maintaining the link between our dimensions that makes transporting individuals to the facility possible. In my own reality, incidents of accessing alternate dimensions have been recorded but are generally accidental in nature.

My skepticism on the matter is largely associated with the loss of individuals via this technology. While I do not consider such occurrences to be outside the realm of possibility, I also do not consider it likely that the wardens would be forthcoming about any individuals who had left, either by finding their own means to leave or by being returned to their homes, as this would contradict the sentences we are handed upon arrival.

[Sam nods along.] So far we don't really know what happens to them or where they go when they disappear. They could be home or being held somewhere else. [A pause] They could be dead. [He doesn't say that easily and it shows in the way his forehead wrinkles a bit and his hand tightens at his side just enough. After all, his brother is currently "lost."]

It is also possible that they are, in fact, intentionally transferred to another facility and that the information is being withheld from us. The existence of Squall Asylum does seem to suggest that there are likely other such environments.

[He nods along.] We have a lot of possibilities and not a lot of ways to narrow it down. It's not exactly encouraging. [Sam has been in one of these dome prisons since Day 74. He's been driven to get out and so far all that drive has gotten him is more prison time. Day 222 and counting.]

No, it is not. However, it is not an endeavour which we can abandon, either.

[ Data's frustrated with it himself, even if he hasn't been here for nearly as long. But he's driven by his sense of Starfleet duty - not just to liberate the personnel present, but to gain the freedom of all those present. Besides, a life sentence for him could be centuries long. He's got time. ]

[Sam nods.] I didn't think we should. We all have things to get back to. [In his case "things" is stopping an apocalypse, okay? If it's even still possible.] It would just be good to have some light at the end of this tunnel.
