Day 222 — Mandatory activity mingle
[ It's a wonderful, stormy day here in Squall Asylum and vacation time is officially over! Your gracious overlords have worked out a light itinerary for you today and they expect you to keep it.

Get in line to pick up your food rations for the day. Eat breakfast if you have time for it, or perhaps you'd rather skip this one time and save yourself the discomfort during the two hours of exercise that follow. Jogging, jumping jacks or perhaps impromptu team sports, whatever you end up doing you bet you'll come out exercised in the end!

Should you not want to participate... well. We have ways to make you join in. Anyone reluctant to get their heart rate up will get a helpful electric prod by one of the bots until they comply. Tough cookies.

Luckily you'll get a chance to wash off that sweat (hope you're not shy, the wash room can get crowded) before it's time for the silent game for an hour, followed by lunch. The day is not over yet though! There's still time for a couple of hours of hard labor tending to the crops, doing laundry or perhaps breaking bricks in the yard. To make sure none of the inmates are broken this is also the time for mandatory physical checkups — bots will guide you to the hospital. No ifs or buts. The violation of personal privacy is for your own good, we promise.

[She just smiles. She's glad for the concern, and she gets it. She knows he's not really questioning her control so much. Although that sort of thing is understandable.]

I've went plenty long before without being allowed to drink.

You don't have to worry. Where I come vampires don't need blood to survive, so I'd rather focus on actual food. [It's their sanity that becomes affected, but even then she wouldn't hurt someone. All of that aside, she has a mutual donor so she isn't concerned.]

	I'm immortal, so... I wouldn't die if I didn't have any. [Hmm...] I could probably live off of blood alone, but that doesn't sound like fun. [But how would it affect the lesser vampires?] We all get hungry for normal food, so I think it should be something we eat. It wouldn't be comfortable to feel hungry all the time. I could probably just survive off of blood. But we get hungry for food, too. So I think it's probably important... yeah...

I've never really thought deeply about it. I think it helps sustain us, and keep us full. If we went without, the need for blood would probably increase. And if we had neither, I think it would probably be painful. At Kurosu Academy we were still served regular food.

Not really.

[Except maybe to Aidou, but then again they have the same taste in food. And although he's her teacher, she's never really asked him about their eating habits.]

For a while at home I... was a little isolated. So I didn't really have anyone to talk to about that kind of thing. And even after I was permitted to return to school and restart the night class, I'm usually treated differently from the rest of the class, so I'm not really sure how to bring up such embarrassing questions, which would maybe be common sense to most.

Well... because I'm a pureblood. It's... a hierarchy sort of thing. But the aristocrats and other vampires treat the pureblood differently.

And I'm kind of weird, I guess... I mean everyone always says that. Since I was raised in a human household, I'm not sure how well I pull off the position of princess. In fact, I'd rather people not have that sort of expectation of me at all.

Vampirism is the dominate trait. If a pureblood and human were to have children, their children would be noble class.

I-I'm only considered a princess because I'm a pureblood. The pureblood are really rare. Since the pureblood have the ability to exercise control over other vampires and humans, the other classes reverie and fear us.

[On the flip side it makes them the ultimate prey, but she doesn't have to go into every detail.]

Kaname was the ruling king most recently, after the passing of the senate, but... [She shakes her head. He abandoned that post.] At home right now, I think there are individuals who would like to claim that title.

I don't think I'm really cut out for it.

Kaname is no longer within that position back home, and many responsibilities have fallen into my lap, but-- because of my age and situation at home, I'm not so sure that the rest of society would accept me as queen.

[And again, it'd be too embarrassing to be called as such.]

I have a responsibility and the legacy of the family to uphold, and while I have-- taken steps to try and ensure that there is no bloodshed or crazy individuals stepping up to take dominion over the rest... I'm only doing what I can, which is very little.

[She gives a helpless shrug]

Technically the hunter's association has taken custody of me and I'm not supposed to go anywhere or do anything without their permission.

I witnessed a horrific crime. [Not one she likes to remember at all.]

Because of my relationship to the person who committed it, I was arrested as a person of interest.

[It wasn't something she had much choice in.]

My adoptive father is the association president, so... the circumstances for me are a little different. I was permitted to leave with supervision and I was found innocent.

[She rubs the back of her neck and smiles sheepishly]

Aha-- Actually I ran away, though. I can't stop that person when under constant guard, and I can't accept all of their intentions. So I thought it was time to leave.
