Mingle: Event Kick-Off
[ It was mid-morning. The sky was clear and it was a (not so) very blustery day. It was cool but it was always cool. It was neither too warm nor too hot.

Lukewarm.

And that was just how Bak preferred it. Especially since he had in hand his very important, extra special concoction of wonderful forgetfulness on hand! Bak could stand teasing, but even this was getting ridiculous.

Hefting the bag a little higher so it fit snug into the crook between elbow and shoulder, he stepped off into wild world of Marinanova and promptly had to grab onto his hat.

Opps. He always forgot about that step down.

Taking another step, he nearly tripped again, this time on a rock. Frowning, Bak starred at the offending piece of debris and then he kicked it.

And yelped.

And then held his foot, dropping his bag in a near blinding rush of ”Eeeek!” as he dived for the paper bag, watching as with a POOF half of the contents disappeared into the wind, leaving him sneezing and dazed on the ground wondering what the heck had just happened. Clearly, his own formula had been getting the best of him. It happens when one sneaky scientist messes with the formula and Bak spent the better part of the morning putting the final touches of the mixture together.

Heightened emotions indeed.

Bak will rue this day assuming he survived it. ]

((ooc: Consider this post an open mingle and the start of the Marina Feelings Roulette Event! Creating your own posts is, as always, highly encouraged. And, unless you got an extra hefty dose of it right off the bat (re: by being in proximity to Bak when it happened) feelings should gradually start to go haywire later in the day with strongest feelings in the afternoon and tapering off again as evening descends. For more info on the details, please go here. Have fun!))

Eh. Eventually I'll run out of misfortunes, so it works better on a temporary basis.

[He puts the bucket back on his head as quickly as he can, while causing some more papers to fall out.]

There's a lot of repeats in there. That's probably why fortunes don't make any sense, 'cause all the good ideas were already taken.

Especially if they keep falling out of your hat.

[She's picking up the pieces of paper from the ground. Cause littering is bad, m'kay?]

Repeats are okay. It's all about perception. 'Now is the time' could mean something completely different to eighty different people... unless you play that silly 'in bed' game after reading a fortune or misfortune.

[He puts a hand to his chin. Dawn's got a point!]

I guess that's true, even though I think everyone else always seem to think the same way. [He shrugs.] In bed. [Ha ha he had to!!]

If you think that, then you obviously need to meet more everyone else's. [She'll play along!] In bed.

Maybe, but you meet a lot of people as a cop and I have yet to be proven wrong. [A very brief pause.] In bed.

A cop? [She looks impressed, but also still amused.] Then you should really know that you can't cookie-cutter mold everyone... in bed.

[Sougo rubs the back of his neck.]

Okay, okay. The people at this one bakery I frequented and some old people are pretty nice. In bed.

[... Shudders.]

Shit, that last one was messed up. I'm gonna have nightmares now of old people in my bed.

Heh.

[More terrible visuals! He can't unsee!]

I don't know which is more nightmare inducing -- me having old sagging tits in my bed, or you having old sagging balls in your bed.

[Why is this even a thing he's thinking about... Maybe he unfortunately had masochistic tendencies at times too!!]

Nightmare inducing is walking in on your sister and her newest fling when they're in the middle of... you know. You know?

[She's pretty sure he knows.] Cause... ew. Cause for some things there's just not enough brain bleach in the universe.

[Oh, such a funny thing for her to say. It upsets him so much more than he expected.]

Sisters can do whatever makes them happy. If she's lucky to live long enough to have a good fuck, then she should have all the good fucks that come her way.

Woah, this conversation just got all deep and depressing... and a little more ick.

[She'd lived through Buffy having died multiple times and because of that she agrees with Sougo. But at the same time, she has to keep up her bratty banter or this conversation could easily turn into a sob fest.] She always has a boyfriend and from the looks of them all, she's getting all the good... love make-age so I'm allowed to be all sister-bratty about it.

[That doesn't make him happy. Oh no! He has a view of sisters that cannot be ruined by sisters like Dawn's!!]

I guess. You sister sounds kind of like a bitch, if you ask me.

[Hey! You just said bad things about her sister! Only Dawn gets to do that. Her eyes grow wide and she shakes her head.]

If having a good sex life makes you a bitch then yeah. Only it doesn't so she's not. She saves the world a lot actually. So she's a super hero, minus the spandex. Not that there's anything wrong with spandex cause hey if that's your thing then... [Shrug.]

It's not the sex that makes her a bitch. It just sounded to me like she pays more attention to boyfriends than you. [He shrugs, scratching his head... bucket head...] Saving the world is definitely a redeeming quality.

Oh... well sometimes. World in peril stuff takes priority over family stuff. I think I've spent more time with her here in the prison than I have in years.

[She hands him all of the misfortunes she'd picked up from around him.] I think I like you. Wanna be friends?

[He takes the papers before raising an eyebrow at her. That caught him off guard. Way off guard. He's not even sure how to respond to her!]

Is that a serious question? You must be messing with me.

No, it's fine. I'm just not used to people wanting to be friends with me, I guess.

[He scratches his head.]

So, sure, I guess. If it really works that easily sometimes.

[She smiles. Because with Dawn it really is that easy unless someone hurts her sister in some way. But Sougo has yet to do that.]

Good. Then I'll see you around. Have fun spreading all the misfortunes.
