Mingle: Event Kick-Off
[ It was mid-morning. The sky was clear and it was a (not so) very blustery day. It was cool but it was always cool. It was neither too warm nor too hot.

Lukewarm.

And that was just how Bak preferred it. Especially since he had in hand his very important, extra special concoction of wonderful forgetfulness on hand! Bak could stand teasing, but even this was getting ridiculous.

Hefting the bag a little higher so it fit snug into the crook between elbow and shoulder, he stepped off into wild world of Marinanova and promptly had to grab onto his hat.

Opps. He always forgot about that step down.

Taking another step, he nearly tripped again, this time on a rock. Frowning, Bak starred at the offending piece of debris and then he kicked it.

And yelped.

And then held his foot, dropping his bag in a near blinding rush of ”Eeeek!” as he dived for the paper bag, watching as with a POOF half of the contents disappeared into the wind, leaving him sneezing and dazed on the ground wondering what the heck had just happened. Clearly, his own formula had been getting the best of him. It happens when one sneaky scientist messes with the formula and Bak spent the better part of the morning putting the final touches of the mixture together.

Heightened emotions indeed.

Bak will rue this day assuming he survived it. ]

((ooc: Consider this post an open mingle and the start of the Marina Feelings Roulette Event! Creating your own posts is, as always, highly encouraged. And, unless you got an extra hefty dose of it right off the bat (re: by being in proximity to Bak when it happened) feelings should gradually start to go haywire later in the day with strongest feelings in the afternoon and tapering off again as evening descends. For more info on the details, please go here. Have fun!))

I like realistic. [She nods in agreement. Honesty was always better than bullshit in her book. She wrinkles her nose though, thinking about fortune cookies.] One time I got this totally vague fortune from a fortune cookie that said 'Now is the time'. And that was it. I was like... the time for what? Huh? What? I don't...

[There's a dramatic eye roll and then she's steeling herself away in preparation.] Alright, so how does this work. Are you handing out cookies with misfortunes in them? Cause I don't think it's smart to eat cookies from strangers.

I guess it was the time for you to read that fortune, and then you did. How anticlimactic.

[Sougo takes the bucket off his head, little pieces of papers falling out of it as well.

Sougo quickly holds the bucket right side up so that no more papers fall out.]

Okay, you can stick your hand in or pick one up. That's how this works. I can't guarantee you'll like what you get, but that's to be expected.

[Which ever she decides to do, her fortune will be one like so.]

Super anticlimactic. [Dawn considers picking up all the papers that fell from the hat but then at the last moment decides to do it right by reaching into the hat.

She unfolds the slip of paper and reads it aloud.
] At any time, you can marry anyone you please. Trouble is, you can't please anyone.

[She wrinkles her nose.] How depressing. I want a different one.

[Sougo snorts.]

Ooh, that's a good one. Told you there's no guarantee that you'll like what you get. It's the way misfortune goes, and a natural part of life.

But I can please people. I mean, I'm not one of those people that goes around trying to please people but when I set my mind to it. I can totally do the pleasing thing.

[Hey, wait a minute...] Which... sounded a lot better in my brain space before I actually said it. But you get what I'm saying, right? I can be the pleasiest of the pleasers.

[Oh really. That sounded like tons of fun to him.]

Oh, so you're the M type. [He nods slowly.] M types go really well with S types, you know.

Huh? M type? Is that a compliment or should I be totally and completely offended in a ranting and raving kind of way?

[She arches a curious brow.] What personality type are you?

I don't know. That depends on how you feel about being a masochist. [He shrugs.] If you're really asking me, I think it's a good thing, because I'm a sadist, an S type. Like I said, S and M go really well together. [Sougo grins, very amused.]

Okay, well, first : that was very pun-y. Credit for that. I enjoy a good pun with the best of them. Second : I embarrass myself a lot but that isn't really masochism, is it? Or maybe it is.

[She seems to consider that for a moment.] And third, sadism is only sexy in theory... like in a smutty BDSM romance novel where it's all whips and chains and collars and... not... that I've ever read anything like that. Maybe.

[Quick change of subject cause now she's blushing like crazy.] So can I draw again and does it still count if I do?

[Sougo runs a hand through his hair, sighing a bit dramatically.] Why do girls always think things are only sexy in movies, anime and stories? Such things can be great in real life too, if you meet the right people who know what they're doing.

[He holds out the bucket toward her.] If you want. I really don't give a shit.

Well I can't speak for all girls, but for me it's because the imagination is mightier than the sword... so to speak. I can totally get from zero to sexy in just my brain space without anything else. And how am I even talking to you about this? I don't even know your name!

[She picks up one of the papers off of the ground.] I'm Dawn Summers.

I can understand that. Imagination is definitely more wild sometimes, too.

[He nods, another grin on his face, amused with the things she's saying. Girls with no filter are the most fun.]

Dawn Summers. [There's a slight bow.] I'm Sougo Okita.

The imagination is bigger and better. [She grins and waggles her eyebrows completely amused at herself.] I can totally do pun-y too.

Nice to meet you Sougo Okita. [She unfolds the paper and reads from it.] At the rate you give people headaches, you should buy stock in Excedrin. [A pause, hesitation, then a nod.] Okay that one's probably true.

Oh just wait, sometimes it's slow building. [She might be kidding, she might not be. In either case, she's grinning.]

You know, if you weren't imprisoned, I'd say you could take this show on the road.

Eh. Eventually I'll run out of misfortunes, so it works better on a temporary basis.

[He puts the bucket back on his head as quickly as he can, while causing some more papers to fall out.]

There's a lot of repeats in there. That's probably why fortunes don't make any sense, 'cause all the good ideas were already taken.

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]the_dawnster

Especially if they keep falling out of your hat.

[She's picking up the pieces of paper from the ground. Cause littering is bad, m'kay?]

Repeats are okay. It's all about perception. 'Now is the time' could mean something completely different to eighty different people... unless you play that silly 'in bed' game after reading a fortune or misfortune.

[Sougo rubs the back of his neck.]

Okay, okay. The people at this one bakery I frequented and some old people are pretty nice. In bed.

[... Shudders.]

Shit, that last one was messed up. I'm gonna have nightmares now of old people in my bed.

Heh.

[More terrible visuals! He can't unsee!]

I don't know which is more nightmare inducing -- me having old sagging tits in my bed, or you having old sagging balls in your bed.

[Why is this even a thing he's thinking about... Maybe he unfortunately had masochistic tendencies at times too!!]

Nightmare inducing is walking in on your sister and her newest fling when they're in the middle of... you know. You know?
