Day 196// Family Isuues Group
[There's an annoucement for another group, this one meeting in one of the rooms at the education center. This group is specially made for those with issues with the families. When you arrive to the room the chairs will be moved to form a circle. It's to promote a feeling of unity, okay?

There are a set of sample questions written on a dry erase board, but of course, things might go off topic.
]

Sample Questions:

1. How many members in your family are there?
2. Have any of them passed away? How?
3. Do you have any siblings? Brothers or sisters? How many?
4. Do you have a good relationship with your mother?
5. Your father?
6. Your siblings (if you have them)?
7. Who are you closest to in your family?
8. If you could change anything about your family, what would you change?

[ooc: you could be forced to this one by the bots, or volunteer, either way goes. And even if you didn't sign up a character for this one, feel free to go for it.]

Of course. Talk has never been able to reverse nature. [Both of Rebekah's parents are dead now, but considering that the last time she saw her own mother she possessed her in an attempt to kill her and the rest of the family -- feelings are complicated at best.]

Then why put us in a situation to discuss our families? What is the purpose of this group?

[She looks over the questions again.] I do not have a father, either. What does mentioning one help? It is strange to be asked about things I have no relation to.

And my parents are both dead, and weren't exactly the best examples even when they were not. I didn't choose these questions, I cannot tell you why the wardens think it would be helpful.

I was not asking you. I was...speaking out loud. [She is very awkward about socializing, let alone this kind of discussion.] My mother was not a good mother, but she cared.

Parents have strange ways of showing they care. [Her mother had claimed she wanted to kill them all because she cared about them, wanted to release them from being monsters.]

[Her mother let her be tortured, experimented on, and turned into a weapon for thirteen years. But then she also tried to save her, to get her out of the Facility, because she cared.] She died. What she did or did not do does not matter. I am alive because of her.

That's one way to look at it. [It's hard because Rebekah had mourned her mother for a thousand years to only get her back in the worst possible way.]

Either way, if they're dead, there isn't much to be done about it. So I don't see how making us talk helps.

No, it does not. [She can agree with that assessment.] They say talking ends this sooner, but I do not see how these questions...facilitate talking.

[Unless she were to consider the conversations simply about how unhelpful the questions are.]

Even if we answer them, what's the point? None of these people are here. Not my parents, and not my siblings. So it's irrelevant what my relationship with them is.

If they are attempting to facilitate...therapy by assigning us in groups of people with shared experiences, this has been constructed poorly. It does not mean that we are the same.

And considering the differences in universes and species here the idea that just because we may have problems with our family doesn't mean we could relate.

You cannot relate to someone else's experiences. They will always be different somehow. [Which is why this entire thing confuses her.]

It's true. Which is why this whole exercise is pointless.

It is pointless to say that they can relate, but that does not mean people do not understand. [Other mutants understand what it is liked to be hated for what they are, even if their lives have not been the same as hers.] I just do not see why that does any good. One day will not make a great difference.

Maybe it's an experiment, and if they like the results, they'll do it again. [But god, she hopes not.]

[There's a crinkle of her nose, one of the few signs of distaste that she normally shows.] I would rather not be forced into this again.

It must? Is it not counterproductive? [She is soemwhat surprised. It something is meant to be therapeutic, she would have thought more comfortable surroundings when you feel more inclined to talk would be better.]

Neither have I. It is offered at the Institute, but not a requirement.
