As some of you may know, or have noticed, both of your mods have been having a hard time tagging in Marina for a while now, and have been steadily losing interest in it. Everything has felt like a struggle for both of us, and we haven't been giving it the kind of attention it deserves. It's been difficult, and more than difficult, it's been upsetting, which isn't fair to us or to you.
It's incredibly hard to give up something that's been part of our lives for so long, and even harder when we know that lots of people are still enjoying it. But after a lot of discussion, we've agreed between ourselves -- and we've been encouraged by others -- to make it official, and so
we are stepping down and will be leaving the game. This will put Marina to rest. However,
we will be working with Haunt and Rica, who have volunteered to step up and continue the game. We don't feel comfortable passing on the responsibility of playing the NPCs and following all of our complicated personal standards and ideas, so we will be closing the current communities and NPC journals, and starting fresh with an IC rationale for the change in location, just like our first move over two years ago.
They plan to continue the game with the new communities, and we will be working out the details with them in the next day or two. If anyone would like to volunteer to help them with the game, they would appreciate interest!
But
in two weeks, at the end of June, at the end of Day 173, we will be closing
marinasylum for new posting. We will make another post when Haunt and Rica have their communities set up.
It's been a beautiful time with all of you, for over three years, and we wanted Marina to go fast and painless while it's still beautiful, rather than letting neglect and disinterest drag it down.
Our communities will stay. We have 85 players, 154 characters; 6,132 community posts and almost 727,000 community comments. And they are all amazing!
So for our part: Thank you, and stay amazing, all of you.
