Speed dating was still one of Darcy's favorite things to do in town and she hoped that if she ever got sent home permanently, someone would pick up running it in her stead.

As usual, there were flyers lying around with suggested questions if people needed some good ice breakers. There were also appetizers and, of course, the bar was well stocked. After the main event, there would be several hours available for folks to mingle, regardless of whether they participated or not.

When the clock struck six, Darcy rang the bell and stood on a chair. "All right, gang. Round one starts when I ring the bell again. Please make your way to the first table on your list. Have fun!" She waited for folks to make their way around the room and, once it seemed like most were settled, she rang the bell again.

This was fucking bullshit. He had been signed up for speed dating against his well and he had not been able to worm his way out of it. SO, there he was, on the first date of the night. And just because he was at the speed dating event it didn't mean that he had to be happy about it. Or be nice to the other participants.

All it meant was that he had wasted maybe an hour of his time, and then he would be able to get alcohol.

Because that was what was important.

This was what was going through his head as he waited for the first date of the night.

Miriam signed up in a way to be more social, and less to find a romantic partner. She liked her life here, but knew how introverted she could be at times. The vampire wore a cropped blouse with The Clash and a Union Jack on it, her leather jacket, low heels, and dark wash tight jeans. No holes, though.

Wine, as per usual, accompanied her as she found her first date. Oh good. He looked about as friendly as Gerbert. Which made the ancient vampire try to not roll her eyes.

She almost considered mentioning he needn't bother trying to kill Miriam. "I'm Miriam and given your expression, you didn't volunteer to be here."

"Bloody right I didn't," he murmured, then he looked up at Miriam. Studying her for a moment, his head tilting slightly. "Though I could be persuaded to have a better outlook on the whole scenario. ...if you find yourself to be rather persuasive."

He did like the look of this woman, though. Perhaps this wouldn't be too terribly bad.

Maybe better than he anticipated.

Perhaps not.

	Miriam didn't blink nor did she wilt or back down from the man across from her. She took a sip of her wine, considering the man across from her. "And what, pray tell, would be persuasive to you?" The vampire didn't blink as she took a sip of her wine. She'd fucked a few people in this town since her arrival, but that didn't mean the brunette would just perform because some man requested it. Miriam lived too long to jump just because a man told her to do so.

She spoke no words as she finished her wine. Instead, she stood up, aware the bell hadn't rung yet, and went to refill her wine. Tonight would be a very long night indeed.
