The last Christmas carol had been sung. The visitors had gone home, and Remus had fed and changed and bathed his son. Andromeda had gently declined their offer of dinner, and promised to owl Hogwarts so they would know where Severus was.
Now they stood outside her house in the dark winter night. A man, laden with packages from a toy store, hurried past.
"I would have done that," Remus murmured. "There's no better time to be a child than at Christmas. Making it good for Teddy - "
"You still can." Severus squeezed his hand. "We still can."
"Yes."
