It was meant to be nothing more than a huge Doctor Who day. Then Chevy had to go handle business for her father and, as the good friend so willing to suffer, Cynthia promised, pinky promised, swore on her Cardis and their friendship that she would not watch the Day of the Doctor without her. Of course, she also immediately regretted it, knowing full-well she would have to wait until someone put it online. The things she did for Chev, sometimes. Not that it mattered, because she was more than content watching the seasons while waiting for Luca to be relinquished from duties with his father. The man did not like Cynthia and had no trouble making sure she grasped that. Of course it bothered her, but what could she do? She was not about to give up on Luca if he wanted her around. Considering how many times her boyfriend said, "My father can go fuck himself," she was pretty confident he was not about to drop her like hot potato and run off with that secretary from his floor. Not to say that was the only thing that was an issue. She knew Luca hated where she lived. She hated where she lived, but it was not like she could... or would move back to her stepmother's place. And she definitely could not afford more. She was more or less stuck where she was. It was her place, though. He just never stayed there and she never went to his parent's place. She was not meant to be part of that world and she hated reminding him how much she did not want to be in that fancy setting. It made her uncomfortable. Still, when he was over and it was just them, or the rest of the group came over for movie night, none of that mattered. So she just waited with Tank fast asleep with his head on her lap and snoring while she watched the fourth season.
Out of boredom, she finally went onto Facebook while waiting for her Netflix to figure itself out- lag was the death of her entertainment. She scrolled through, hardly thinking about what she was reading until she saw something Luca had posted only a few minutes before. Somehow it went without any likes and she was shocked. Moistly because he had finally told off his father and showed him the EMT certification he had been working so hard for. She gave a rather excited shriek, which started her dog into barking twice and hopping off the couch. Still laughing at Tank the laziest guard dog ever (who had proceeded to lay back down at her feet after realizing nothing was wrong) and responded immediately. She wanted him to come over and for them to be able to celebrate. She knew that he wanted to leave that job with his father. She was still genuinely shocked that he had been in school secretly. He had told her before even revealing who he was, but it seemed so out of character. Until she got to know him, naturally. She waited for his response, knowing he rarely turned down a chance to come over, even if for a few hours. She got up, once more startling Tank who did not even bother getting up to investigate this time and walked to her kitchen to see what she had that could be cooked for him. Settling for the steak they had bought and never cooked one of the other times he was over. A common thing for them. This time, she was determined, and she took it out and let it thaw with a sink full of warm water.
Not long after she did so, completely forgetting she was still walking around in a shirt he had left there and mismatched knee socks-one blue and green stripped and the other lime green and bright orange argyle- she heard the door open and realized Luca was there. She left the kitchen quickly to meet him at the door and wrapped her arms around him from behind as he closed the door.
