i'm free to decide
Who: Arwen, Desi and Emilia
Where: Sandwich shop near Hope Fellowship Church
When: Lunch
Hi Arwen, Desi, good to see you, how are you? Me? Oh good, good… I’m getting a divorce… Just thinking the words caused Emilia’s throat to tighten so how in God’s name did she expect that she was going to be able to say them? She could just try and dance around the subject, but Desi knew what Doran had done to her and would likely be asking what was going on. If Arwen had not heard from their mother then… well, Emilia would not be surprised, actually. Emily Kavanagh had a true talent for keeping secrets even from her own daughters. Still, Emilia would feel bad if Desi knew something about her that Arwen did not. And a little tiny bit guilty that she had run to Desi’s apartment without even sparing a text for her other sister.
Sighing, Emilia leaned her elbow on the table and cupped her chin in her hand, staring at the door and willing her sisters to arrive. She could hardly care which one came first, just that they both got there and that they got there soon. She only had an hour for lunch, an extra thirty minutes if she came up with a good reason, but she did not want to use that since she was already planning on ducking out early to make it to her lawyer’s office. There was another paper she had to look over or sign before papers could be delivered to Doran and she wanted to get her part done as quickly as possible because God knew that Doran was likely drag his feet just to try and irritate her.
“Thank you.” The response came automatically when a steaming cup of coffee was set in front of her. She shook her head when asked if she wanted anything else - she was still feeling full after breakfast. When she was at Doran’s she would usually just grab a granola bar and that was if she thought her stomach could handle everything with the pills she had taken. This morning she had been presented with not only a plate of waffles with fresh strawberries, but a side of bacon and toast as well. If she did not eat anything again until dinner then she would not be surprised.
