Your heart is the only place that I call home
Who: Kiley and Mason
Where: SOHS
When: Early morning
After days of waiting, Kiley finally got the news she wanted to hear: the barrier was down. Of course, that didn't mean they could get into the school, no matter how well Corwin or Nicci or anyone else argued, but that still meant that they could. That they could finally get some answers about where everyone was and what the hell had happened to them over the course of the last week or so. It was chaos, straight up, and Kiley was trying to keep her head above water, to not freak out. The adrenaline was winning out over how damn exhausted she was, and it was a better rush than the caffeine from all the Red Bull she'd been drinking. When this was all over, she swore she was never touching the stuff again.
At least Corwin had been with her when the barrier came down. He'd always been better with people than her, and he'd been trying to get her into the school since they realized they could. Granted, he was also borderline arguing with the police officer he was talking to, and the cop was about to lose his cool with him, but either way, she appreciated the effort. She was about to tell Corwin that it was okay, that they could wait, when she saw a flicker of movement by one of the doors of the school. Then she caught it, a scent on the wind, one she'd recognize anywhere. Mason.
Corwin caught it too - all of the wolves around them had to - and she watched the switch flip in her brother's eyes. He lowered his shoulder, knocked the cop out of the way, and looked back at her. "Kiley, go!" he waved her forward, pointing at the school.
She didn't have to be told twice. Kiley might not be the runner Corwin and Mason were, but she still sprinted as fast as she could, spotting a familiar head of blonde hair standing taller than the rest of the crowd. "MASON!"
